Found a new junkyard.
Caboobaroo replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
YAY!!! My RX will finally have a bodykit. Maybe I'll have two and sell one. Gotta wait for the hookups in Colorado to let me know if they grab it or not. But two sets can make me one good set and have spare pieces left over.....hmmmmm time for a wagon maybe? -
so Will, any updates yet? Its getting close to pulling the motor out of the RX and doing a manual swap and I don't wanna replace the clutch in a month after I get it done with my new hoodscoop, TMIC, TD04, WRX downpipe with hollowed cats, MS&EDIS setup, oh and the cams I'm gettin from ya as well...... might have some problems with it if don't hold to what you have....
-
ok so I don't really wanna chop my springs on the XT6 struts and no I'm not going to pull them out like I did the Brat so my question is, will EA82 2wd wagon springs fit onto an XT6 strut? Would WRX performace springs fit? What will fit that could be inexpensive unlike buying a lowering kit and blah blah blah. Just seein what people have done;)

SPFI on ea81 engine question
Caboobaroo replied to Snowman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeah Kelly and if you need some EA71 pistons, then I got a set back home I can pull next time I'm there... -
tach installed, rev limit?
Caboobaroo replied to Vicious-S's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
thats why he said "3000 is power". Unless with modifications like a Weber, electronic disty setup, exhaust, and a good intake setup, you won't get much of a powerband and then when you do, it's a low RPM band... -
hmmmm linky no worky for me......

well I've contacted oddcomp about this but I think he's been too busy with work or something but here's my question. Everyone is now wanting to convert to the said setup in their cars right? I've also heard about having this setup for sale so its all plug and play action for us who are a little less then 'electrical scientists', makes it easier on us who can have a little bigger wallet. So I was wondering from all of you who are building your own units like oddcomp and I believe shadow as well, when is there going to be a market started for all of this? I read through the other thread that is in relation to MS & EDIS but its just too long and took me forever to read it and all of the big words and whatnot. So, is there anyone who can tell me how much it would be to have made the full shibang so all I have to do is drop it in, hook it up, and go?

depending on how things go in the next couple months finacial wise, I might be able to afford the ARP set for another motor I'm planning on doing a monsterous build to...

Hey Brian, next time you can get a chance and snag that bodykit, I'll have money waiting for you. Mine never came with more then the airdam but it has a couple small tears in it so I'd need everything. I can even pay for shipping as well:D -
mine have power door locks and windows as well. I guess you'll have to sell it Will and find a newer one:D Or quit whining about not having power door locks:brow:

the rear discs were an option if they didn't come on a turbo car. You can use the discs from a 2wd EA82 BUT you'll need the 4wd hubs to make it work.

how did the ECU handle it? Did it still seem like it hesitated after shifting? Me wanna know when I put mine on....well crap, won't really care once I get the MS and EDIS on there...... *gets ready to put a rubber glove on*.. -
EA81 & EA82 alt compatability...
Caboobaroo replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Andrew took an alternator from his old '83 GL-10 sedan and stuck it in his '87 turbowagon when the alt went in it. Worked fine I guess..... -
why me god, why always me?!?
Caboobaroo replied to subyrally's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
don't worry man, I'm having the SAME bit of luck you are. Bought my RX from the junkyard and they told me it had a bad motor, so I also noticed it had a bad waterpump so I replaced it. Was running like a champ but smoked like a steamship. Thought I had it pretty well until I started getting loads of water, I mean LOADS of water, pissing from my exhaust. So now I'm buying a new motor in January for it (JDM baby YEAH!) but its still an expense I didn't want to deal with. Was kinda hoping to get a motor while I drove it and build it nicely for the car. Well now I get to do a mild build on it with my new motor.....can't really win I guess but it's worth the extra time and money to do it right I suppose... -

Not unless I beat ya to it.......workin on producing another motor once I get the JDM motor bought, to the house, and in my car......mwahahahahahaa:D:D Then get a set of gen 3 heads and have them WORKED like none other. I'm liking the sound of bigger valves, lots of porting, a nice set of cams, titanium valve springs for those 9k rpm shifts, full hyperutectic bottom end including lightened crank and aluminum rods. Plus a set of .030 overbored carbed pistons to top everything off with. Oh and maybe a EJ intake setup if I feel like massaging it to work on there:D Now I need to find someone with a metal shop so I can start working on machining everything I'll need....MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA -
82 BRAT wont move?
Caboobaroo replied to Flowmastered87GL's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Mike, did you make sure that you put the clutch disk in the right direction? There are two different sides, one being marked "flywheel" meaning it goes on the flywheel side. If you put it in backwards, it will do everything you just mentioned. It will slip like none other and will barely move due to it slipping..... -
I was bored, lookie what I did!
Caboobaroo replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
probably the one on the RX. Its a stock wing and if it wasn't such a pain to ship, I have a good one in white.... Will, get on AIM, we'll talk about the parts bro;) -
GO WILL GO!!! Figure this out and we'll have more choices for clutches, especially when we start running 250hp like we're planning....mwahahahahaha now I might be able to have a clutch to hold my POWER!!!

who's that dis'n the Justy?!
Caboobaroo replied to RallyJusty's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the Justy I had was an '88 FWD 5-speed and I could get the tires to roast all day long! I traded some parts for it and then traded it for my '78 Brat which was RWD due to a blown front axle. Granted, they seen a little underpowered BUT they do weight less then an EA81 hatch since I was able to pick the side of the Justy up;)But I'm much happier with my Brat, especially when it had the JDM motor in it.....110hp baby YEAH!!! -
Yeah but too bad its not his! Its still one hell of a machine though!
