  1. if it has a blown headgasket or has a cracked head, here's an easy way to check. Start the car and take a radiator cap off. If you see it bubble out of the radiator in a constant pulse, chances are its either one of those. If it doesn't do that, smell the radiator cap. If a head is cracked into the exhaust port like they sometimes do especially on the turbo cars, the radiator will smell like exhaust fumes.
  2. Mmmmm naughty Subaru, naughty:D I have to agree with you Rob, it is very naughty looking even though my g/f thinks its CUTE!
  3. well what are you looking for my man? I got gen 1 Brat parts sitting around collecting dust:D
  4. ok by now you're like "WTF, I'm so lost" Here's how I see it. The GL was a setp below the GL-10 right? The GL-10 came with EVERYTHING! (sunroof, AC, deluxe interior depending on the year, turbo, digidash) Now you could order the GL with everything you could get on the GL-10 so you could order a GL wagon with a turbo, or a sunroof, or a digidash. The other way is people could get the GL-10 but order it without a turbo or without a digidash. Get the picture? Thats the easiest way I see it. Now if you want more specifics, then you'll have to make out the mumble jumble that everyone has posted so far:D
  5. Lookin pretty sharp! I like how its not too cluttered looking so it keeps it nice and simple. WJM, so you're planning on selling the WRX intercooler? Lemme know when you do, I'll have some more bling for ya;)
  6. the BOV that vent to the atmosphere are good with a stand alone fuel management system like the MS setup since the fumble that it has with the stock ECM is the ECM trying to figure out WTF is going on with the air that is being lost somehow. So a recirc valve is the best to use with a stock ECM setup but with the MS setup, you can run a true BOV.....plan on doin it myself, can ya tell?
  7. got one, 5 bucks plus shipping and its yours.
  8. so... how about that reseal kit;);) The 5-lug should be gotten by the end of the week so then I'll hopefully be sending you some parts:D Congrats!
  9. here ya go Corky, my RX info since its not on there... Model Year: 1989 VIN: JF2AG56B8KH803926 Current Location: Laramie, Wyoming Current Owner: Russell O'Bannan (Caboobaroo) Current Condition: Project Car Comments: The rare black and gold RX. Has the 4EAT automatic in it. 3.70 LSD, soon to have the Full Time 4wd d/r 5-speed RX tranny with 3.90 front diff and 3.90 LSD rear diff. Also getting 5-lug conversion and TD04 WRX turbo
  10. PM snotrocket, he dropped a EJ22 into a bug he has. Pretty pimpin little car I must say he has. If anyone has any answers, it will defiantly be him! The one on the right looks a little better condition then the other one but like I always tell people, if YOU think its worth it, GO FOR IT!!!
  11. sounds like the brakes are taking a turn for the worst Mike. is this your '75 wagon by chance? If it is, I believe newer style EA81 vented rotors and calipers should bolt right on if I'm not mistaken. If they do, you've just done a brake upgrade on your wagon:D I did it on my '79 wagon but I also custom made the control arms so I got the EA81 balljoints and knuckles as well:)
  12. aww come on Zap, Wyoming isn't THAT bad since I found my blac RX here for 150 bucks. There's also a dead XT6 sitting in a street halfway between my house and work (Wal-Mart). There's also ANOTHER XT6 in the j/y I got my RX from that I'm gonna hopefully get the 5-lug off of for 50 bucks. I also have the luxury of having lots of free soobie parts from gen 2 sedans and 4wd wagons to gen 3 4wd and 2wd wagons as well. So dealing with the cold and the wind is one thing BUT I have all these nice things as well:D Sounds like you got her under control Mike. No not Shannon, the Brat:D I thought I might have to come back and help you fix it, LOL:D
  13. or a bad hose that runs over the top of the motor being hidden from you by the intake. I've seen it a few times....
  14. it should still have a return line on it which he can do the same thing. I can't quite remember HOW the Carter is set up since its been about a year and a hlaf since I looked at the one I had but there's no need to fear Mike, try a hobby store that sells gas powered RC cars, they should have something like they did for mine. I got a hole on the little itty bitty line inside the Carter-Weber on my '83 hatchback and no one had a line that would fit BUT a hobby store. So my suggestion is to try them:D You probably would have never thought of that and I'm surprised I did!
  15. Yet....... cause we all know you Brian:D Very nice RX. Sometimes I wish I would have boughten it when I had the chance but oh well I got my $150 RX;)
  16. ok so it IS possible to swap the pinion shaft and with the gear since those are machined together and there are just gears pressed onto the shaft from what I'm reading? So it'll be pretty easy then? How would I reset my front diff since I have no special tools? But it Will work? YAY!!!!!HAPPY DANCE!!!! Oh and I was refering to all XT6s with maunal trannies, not automatics:D
  17. I know that the RX full time 5-speeds came with the d/r setting but with 3.70 final drive. I also know that the XT6 full time trannies came in only the s/r 5-speed with a 3.90 final drive. My question is, could I swap the pinion, pinion shaft and ring from the 3.90 tranny to the RX 3.70 tranny? I've heard that there are gears machined onto the pinion shaft which runs through the whole tranny right? Why couldn't the whole shaft be swapped with the one with the 3.90 pinion? Aren't the gears the same between the two trannies? I know its a lot of questions but I just wanna see if I can make it work...
  18. there have been a few people to do it. Corky (Dr. RX) would be a good person to talk to about it since he put a EJ20T I believe it was, into an RX 3-door...
  19. [hijack] so would the carbed pulley work on my RX since I'm not running AC due to a bad compressor?[/hijack]
  20. hmm ok I'll have to see if I can "make" one So ok, what would I have to do to my heads then? Should I totally rebuild them myself or try and get a set off of ebay that have been totally gone through with all of the machine work done to them? I think that might be the easiest way to go IMO. But its time to get Andrew's wagon running so I can get the RX in the garage so I'm out of the snow!!! Anyone else have anything they'd like to add? Like how much did a full rebuild cost you and where did you go for parts and stuff like that? How much was it for machining the block?
  21. yeah we need to get a bunch made like that with the special ring in it for us who are planning on running MS & EDIS on our cars:D oh and BTW, how much did you pay for that? I want one that I can do some modifying to so I can fit the "ring"
  22. I don't think there's any real way to tell if you have a Brat motor or a wagon motor or a hatchback motor. I think it has to do internally with the cam which is what I've heard but I could be wrong. The Carter-Weber 1 barrel was used on all models from 82-84 but only some cars had it whereas some cars on the same line could have the Hitachi 2 barrel setup
  23. y'all wanna build one for me since I'm like a retard when it come to electrical outside of a car like building boards and computers and that type of stuff....man I feel dumb:rolleyes:
  24. NICE!!! I like your....ehh.....crooked intercooler, looks custom!
