  1. Yup and hopefully I can get some money by the beginning of the year I hope.... I'll need to know what I would need like the followers since I've never really done a lot of work on an EA82T before....
  2. lol I have a good idea I am planning on doing for tail lights. Hopefully I can get started on it tonight before work. Oh did you happen to keep a possible good 3-door passenger side tail light? Mine has a chunk missing out of it and I'm looking for one. Lemme know Brad:D
  3. move?? Where are you moving to? Wyoming right? Umm try and have Craig push down on the side that is up and see if you can get a nut started. Maybe pull the alxe out and see if it'll sit straight then. All you would have to do is unbolt the suspension from the ball joint after its been jacked up of course, wiggle the axle off of the tranny and get it to sit down straight. Then figure out what the hell is up with the axle, replace if necessary and VOILA!
  4. lookin sharp! I'm hopefully going to have something "custom" done to my tail lights soon, I just need a good passenger side one thats not broken. Then I'll be posting pics as well. Keep it up Brad! Oh and do I see an RX wing in the right of the pic......?
  5. mmmmmm:slobber: I wish mine looked that good right now. Soon it will....soon it will..... and soon it'll have a set of cams in it....some 260 street cams right?
  6. here's some pics of my first Subaru http://usmb.net/gallery/albup46 It is a 1983 2wd GL hatchback, 5-speed, EA81 w/ Carter-Weber carb and an aftermarket sunroof. I got this from Andrew and the pics are ones he took of it when he went to go get it from my buddies cowfield. It lived in that spot for about 8 years until Andrew got ahold of it. I helped him do the work on it and then I ended up cleaning it up and it didn't look too bad besides the major rust it had inside and out from the leaking sunroof. I traded it away for my '79 4wd wagon which I still had and thats when I became hooked on Subarus (more specifically gen 1's!). I Still have the wagon and I traded a '88 Justy for my '78 Brat and now I own an '89 RX which I bought for 150 bucks. Currently in Wyoming, I have my Brat and my RX but my wagon is awaiting me back in Oregon so I can start on the EA81TT project for it:D
  7. he doesn't have a sunroof since the subs would prolly blow it out like a cork:D
  8. I met 30MPG! My Brat could do 90mph easily....sorry sometimes its been a long day when I get on here:rolleyes:
  9. well I'm going to possibly start making these so if you want one, I can either send you some plans and a materials list or I can send you one that is ready to be assembled type thing. Make it waaaaaaay easier to ship then a big honkin thing:D
  10. well I was wondering what other cars had the TD04 turbo besides the WRX and what years did these cars (even the WRX) have the TD04 turbo on them. Lastly, how much did you guys end up paying for them and where'd ya get them ie ebay, j/y, nasioc, etc.... *EDIT* Also I've seen some numbers like "TD04L" and "TD04E" and whatnot. WHats the difference between them?
  11. are you holding onto the Soob? Exhaust can be cheap! Go get some flexpipe and a cherry bomb and VOILA custom exhaust for less the 50 bucks! *cough* cheaper then the VW *cough*
  12. the way its set up it will bend in the metal thus giving it the same flex. Granted it won't be as bad but it doesn't to much for the handling. Use some squarestock like 3/4" to make a 2-point and make sure its either welded to the strut tower or make a bracket so it can bolt and unbolt from the strut cap.
  13. the Holley 5200 is exactly like you said. Its a Weber knock-off but it was still based on the ideas from Weber because Holley had Weber design it for them. I got mine from a swap meet for 15 bucks and it had been rebuilt by a carb shop! It takes the same adapter plate as a Weber depending on which motor you have (ie EA71's and EA81's are the same adapter whereas the EA82 is different). Plus the jetting kits for the Weber work for the Holley from what I can tell since I rejetted mine with Weber jets.
  14. I would think te whole front end is different between the XT and the RX. I looked at an XT for awhile and saw that there are some major differences that would make it too hard and not worth while to do. It'd just be easier to make your own bodykit rather ten try to adapt it to make it work. I gto some ideas up my sleeves like fender flares to hold a nice set of 17's, maybe 18's if I'm lucky:D
  15. well I was informed last night that the FT4wd d/r 5-speed tranny I'm getting turns out to be a part-time from an '85 RX. Grrrr..... Fortunatly, I found a RX tranny and the bodykit pieces I need back home so if the 4EAT in the RX right now works good enough until Xmas time, then Andrew will bring the tranny and the bodykit pieces back with him for me where I will have everything else to do the 5-speed conversion waiting(brand new XT6 lightened flywheel and stage 2 clutch) If not, then he part time will be going into the RX for a short while. Ok so I basically got all of my questions answered, and this is how they go... #1 will work #2 will work #3 it does #4 will work #5 I have some ideas in the works... #6 As Brad said "Hell no" #7 yes but use the linkage from the same tranny.... Thanks guys!
  16. well I need to find out if the gas tank will work or not since thats one of the things I'm replacing to get it running....anyone know?
  17. basically Ford Pintos came with a Holley 5200 on them. Not sure if ALL of them did but mine came off of one. I do know someone who got one from a Ford 2.3 liter in a Ranger. late '70s and early '80s have them I believe...
  18. well I'm planning on putting XT6 air ride into my '89 RX and since mine never came with it, thats why I asked. I'm also doing a 5-lug conversion as well (I know where a 4wd XT6 is and can get the 5-lug for 50 bucks probably)
  19. the cars you'll need to look for depend on it yours is 4wd or 2wd since the carbs differ. Basically if its 4wd, make sure the car is 4wd, manual tranny, and depending on if you need a carb from a california model, make sure its from a california model. Thats basically it On the lift question, the 3/3 lift will make the front end sit lower then the rear so thats why people go with a 4/3 lift, to level it all out and make it sit even all around.
  20. ok so I'm going to be picking all of my parts up on Sunday, YAY!!! I have a few questions though. #1. Will just the rear glass from a 3-door match the glass in an RX? Just want to be 100% sure of this before I get it and find out it won't fit. #2. Will a carbed gas tank from a wagon fit into my RX? Would I have any problems with the outlet/return lines being different size etc? #3. Do all FT4WD d/r 5-speed trannies have the diff lock? I believe that the only cars that came with this tranny were the RXs but I'm not sure. I have been told tha they do but I also want to be 100% sure on this as well. #4. Would the rear quarter window trim be the same from the 3-doors to my black RX? #5. Anyone put air suspension into a car that never came with it? I'm planning on doing a 5-lug swap but I also want to put the air suspension in it as well from the XT6. #6. Does anyone make an aftermarket body kit for the EA82s? Would it be easier to go find an RX bodykit since mine never came with more then just the air dam on it? #7. Do I have to get the linkage to match the tranny or can I use a part-time shift linkage? Thanks for all who reply to this since I'm still kinda new to the whole EA82 thing. Its been gen 1s for me all the way!!!
  21. you might have too but to make it really easy on where everything goes, use a roll of masking tape and mark everything, makes reconnecting everything a snap!
  22. hmmmm if someone can do this, I'm very interested in learning how. I know where there's an XT6 which might have the air suspension still in it and since I'm also planning on doing the 5-lug, this is EXACTLY what I want to do. Iwas thinking about it last night..."Hmm I wonder if anyone on the board has done this yet....":D here's a thought though...get a sensor that will click power on going to the compressor when the air pressure gets too low. Like a minitruck setup, plug it in and leave it so it recharges the tank itself.
  23. its really easy to replace an intake gasket. Basically take the 3 bolts out that hold it down on either side (so 6 total), scrape both of the old gaskets off, put some new ones on but only use silicone around the waterjacket, drop the intake back on and voila! you'll be back in business in no time at all!
  24. yes use the '83 and newer EA81 distys since its two wires you have to hook up besides the coil wire. I never really had a chance to screw with mine to get the timing marks to come up since I had to drive it everyday and I couldn't be without a car. So I got my Brat running with it and rebuilt the stck Hitachi and I was getting 30mph from a 26 year old engine. Maybe you need to screw with it to get the marks to come up but I never really had a chance to do so.....
  25. mwahahha but my Brat will be runnin on true American HORSES BABY!!!!
