  1. well I pulled it all apart and blew all the jets out with compressed air but I didn't see anything unusual. The other thing I remember it doing before I started switching the acellerator pumps around was it would take it awhile to come back to idle if I revved it past about 3k. So...I'm about to put it back on after tearing it down. I hope this works.....
  2. But I still don't understand on how it could get gradually worse. I would believe that it would happen almost immediatly but not gradually....
  3. so I might have something stuck in the primary jet? That means I get to pull it apart again to fix it. I just had this carb torn down about 200 miles ago and I cleaned everything with either chem-tool or carb cleaner. Well here we go....Let the FUN begin......NOT!!!
  4. well there's a place out here just a couple minutes away from me that rebuild waterpumps, starters, alternators, etc and I picked up a waterpump for my '78 Brat for 16 bucks and one for my wagon for 19 bucks. If ya lived here, you might be able to get one for about 25 bucks. A remand. pump will run you about 40 bucks I believe and it is not that hard to put on if I remember. You'll have to pull the alternator and the belts off to get to it, pull the radiator, and its a few 10mm bolts I believe. I'm not an EA82 expert but I have done some work on them and one was a waterpump. It took me about 1-2 hours if that.
  5. well my '78 Brat has been running GREAT for the longest time but now, something is going on. At first I thought it was the acellerator pump going out so I replaced it with another one I had. It got worse so I had another one that was almost brand new. Well its still doing it and now it won't stay started. Here's what it does: 1. I can start it up runs great for about 10 seconds and then dies like lack of fuel 2. When I can get it started, if I give it ANY gas whatsoever, it dies immediatly 3. When I had it running and driving, I had to floor it in order to move or it would want to die 4. Sitting at a stoplight, I had to floor it, let off, floor it again, let off and then take off with it almost floored or else it would almost die So, what can it be??? I am at a total loss and I have no money right now to get a rebuild kit for it. It started off getting gradually worse with the acellerator pump that was in it before I started swapping but now I can't even start it......
  6. find the ground. the speakers have a shared ground on either side so if the ground goes on the passenger side, then you'll have no sound coming form them at all. The other thing to check is the connector on the back of the stereo. If its the stock stereo, sometimes the connector will come loose just enough that one side won't work but I found if I smack it, it'll start to work again. I had the same problem with the stereo in the 86 turbosedan I was driving.
  7. Ok so I posted on here a little while ago about '84 Carter-Weber problems in my buddies coupe. Well this thing runs like a CHAMP but it doesn't start on its own. If we push start it, copression start it, whatever.....it will start easily but it will not start on its own. I don't think it has anything to do with fuel, spark, etc but I could be wrong. Any ideas?
  8. that you know someone with a lowered gen 1 Brat? Well if you're reading this post then you NOW know someone with a lowered gen 1 Brat. And for all those people who are like "Why the hell would someone lower a Brat???" well its currently not 4wd. Its is RWD:D:D So I will get some pics in the morning to show all of those people who are gonna be like "Man that sounds PIMPIN!!!" Oh and for all those people who think its stupid to lower a Brat, well you can still see the pics and maybe it'll change your minds I hope....So like I said, pics to come!!!
  9. wel if I was running a twin carb setup then it might be a little easier but since I'm running an MPFI setup with twin turbos, well it makes it a wee bit more difficult:-\
  10. Push starting it consisted of 3 guys pushing while I had it on and in first gear with the clutch in. We got up to about 8mph and I dumped the clutch
  11. Ok so a buddy of mine has an '84 2wd coupe with a Carter-Weber on it. Of course the carb was loose so I got it all tightened and I also checked to see if the acellerator pump was good but we still have a problem. It won't start on its own. It turns over and over and over wanting to start. Its getting fuel, spark, everything. If we push start it, it'll start right away but in the first couple seconds, it feels like its not getting gas but then she takes off and doesn't have a problem after that. If you shut it off and start it back up within a couple seconds, it'll restart but if you wait a couple minutes, it won't start unless you push start it. It runs great, idles great, everything but it won't start under its own power. The guy also has like no money to do a Hitachi swap either so we gotta play around with this. Any ideas?
  12. Well there is all this talk of getting this person's cam ground for their EA81 n/a or someone elses EA82T and yadda yadda yadda. Now I want to know if anyone has had a cam ground for an EA81T yet. I want to put a big nasty cam into my EA81TT project but I don't know what kind of specs I want or any of that junk. If anyone has had one done or would like to help me figure out what kind of specs I am looking for I would appreciate it. Thanks
  13. Hit the wrecking yard. Its you best bet. Won't cost too much for the control arm and the stabilizer bar but budy damage can be at the least a fender but it could also be a bumper, hood, and fender.
  14. SAWEET!!! So I'll have to poke around on the internet or in the yards to find a set of four. Then I'll have to get an FPR for it to I'm guessing. What kind of FPR should I get for pretty reasonable?
  15. So what exactly should I be looking for when I go to a wrecking yard? Just some plain ole Nissan 200SX injectors? Any specific year? A little more info would be greatly appreiciated because I have to build up my fuel system for my all powerful EA81TT:D
  16. Was just wondering if anyone knew if EA82T injectors would swap into a EA81T. Also was wondering what the differences were between them like flow (lbs/hour), size, shape, etc. If anyone has done a swap or knows if they do swap or not, lemme know. Andrew has a set of EA82T injectors and I was hoping they would have a higher flow rate than stock EA81T injectors. Pics would also be helpful like side by side:D Thanks Edit: I just found where McBrat had an injector problem but no one specified if they would swap. One person said that they are identical but someone else said they might have a different flow rate. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=11983&highlight=EA81T+injectors here is the thread by McBrat
  17. Sorry no pics yet of it unless you look here. This is only the passenger side but it gives you the same idea:D http://usmb.net/gallery/album211 Oh and about the EA81TT. Yes its going to be a twin turbo EA81 that I will start building here in about 2 months. I have the motor, wiring harness, ECU, fuel lines and the fuel pump for this project. They came out of a 1983 EA81T wagon. I am also dropping a d/r 4-speed manual behind it.
  18. Well yesterday, I finally got the driver side control arm welded up and bolted in. The wagon is back on 4 wheels and looks pretty nice. For the people who are just joining me, here is a basic run-down on what I have done to the '79 wagon. First I stripped it of all of the EA71 front suspension except for the struts and the coils which I cut 3 of. Next I got a set of EA81 control arms, vented rotors, calipers, and hubs to go under it. I then made my own stabilizer bars since the EA81 stabilizer bars were too short to work. I weled them onto the control arms and bolted everything in and VOILA!!! I have a new set of rotors and calipers to go on but I need to go pick them up. Now its time for a good cleaning and some paint. I also have a set of new ball joints to go on too. I am going to rebuild my steering rack here soon, put new tie rods and tie rod ends in it, clean the crossmember before I put my EA81TT in there. I also plan on doing some other stuff to the front end like new bushings but thats all going to be done in the 15 months in Wyoming.
  19. if I'm understanding you right, you want to put the GL power locking mechanisms for the doors and the hatch into a DL? I believe its a direct bolt in but I'm not totally positive that the wiring harness is there. Might want a few more opinions:D
  20. I believe that SubaruTex did a nice intake setup on the RX. He got rid of the stock aribox completley, made an "box" by closing off the section where the airbox USED to be with a sheet of aluminum, cut a hole in the aluminum that the intake piping runs through and the MAF bolts onto, and then put a nice cone filter on it. It would help keep out the hotter air that is surrounding the engine while sucking in the cooler air that comes from outside the car. Here I found a pic of what I'm talking about to helpp you out!!!! http://www.subarutex.com/gallery/RX/Engine_Bay
  21. I believe we can. I just rebuilt the carb on my gen 1 Brat and I can adjust the choke if I wanted to. Maybe you should get a carb thats NOT a Cali carb..... just an idea:D
  22. yeah I want to get a monsterous cam for my EA81T. Can anyone help me with trying to figure out what I should get spec wise? Qman, since you said that you have one in the Brat, what kind of specs did you decide to go with?
  23. An EA82 radiator will fit with slight modifications. The passenger side top bolt lines up with the stock hole in the core support but the driver side doesn't line up. The bottom would also have to be reworked but when I was looking at it, it didn't seem like it out be too hard to do. If you do plan on putting an EA82 radiator into your wagon, you would need to use a TOP hose for an EA82 for the bottom. Lines up pretty nicley:D
  24. An EA82 radiator will bolt in with slight modifications. I know that the top bolt hole on the passenger side lines up prefectly but the driver's side is where it needs some work. I have one currently sitting in my '79 wagon. The other thing that you have to do when you put an EA82 radiator in is use a TOP hose for an EA82 radiator for the bottom. It works pretty nicley:D
  25. welcome aboard!! Hondasucks and I will be moving out there at the beginning of September to Laramie for school. Hope to see you around!!
