well unfortunatly my wagon will also not be attending. I'm still in the process of lowering the rear and getting my EA71 running good (got a new carb and I gotta hook it up). It would also look kinda funny driving down the road with half of it black......oh and no front seats either:-\ But yes, we can talk about how nutty our cars are:D -
New to YOU, but not SUBARU!

HAHAHAHA Caleb hit it right on the head. I am among the few on the board that have a gen 1 anymore. I know people especially in Texas can't quite find the parts they're looking for. I also like the gen 1 body style. COOL someone else that has a 79 4x4 wagon. Do you have any pics?? -
Well I had this marvelous idea of putting EA81 suspension under the front of my wagon the other day. So I got some from Andrew that I could do some test fitting with today and there are a lot of similarities and differences between the two. Similarities: Knuckle is very similar, stock EA71 strut bolts into it perfectly, wheel bearings appear to be the same size, axles appear to be the same diameter and spline count (gonna check that tomorrow to be sure) Differences: Ball joints mount differently (EA81 mounts the opposite way as the EA71), control arms seem to be waaaaaay different. So, if I want to make the EA81 suspension work in my wagon, I figure I'm gonna have to modify the EA81 control arms to fit. One of the reasons is because when I was pricing the amount for ball joints, EA71 ball joints were almost 30 bucks a piece where the EA81 ball joints I could get both for the same price as one EA71 ball joint. Tomorrow I am also gonna check to see if the bolts that mounts the control arm to the crossmember is the same and to see if the control arm is the same width as an EA71 control arm. I'm hoping this works pretty easily and it'll be a great suspension upgrade for all of us gen 1 guys:D Oh and I'm also gonna see about putting the 84-newer vented rotors and calipers on it too:banana:

I'm gonna see about modifying a set of EA81 vented rotors before I get a set of those Brembos. Whats so different between the Brat and the sedan/wagon valences? The one I got which I still need to go pick up is from a 79 Brat. My cell number is (541)740-3226. Gimme a call sometime and we can get together and talk about the "rides" Later Russ

I'm gonna see if the later EA81 rotors (vented) will work first even if I have to modify them a bit to fit I'd like to go that route. I'll let ya know if I'll need them when you come up. Oh and do you still need a quad headlight front valence for the Brat? I might know where another one is that I can get for ya. I know there is one but that one is for me but there might be another one at the yard:D

Well when I pulled my EA71 apart, I found one bent pushrod on the exhaust valve on the drivers side. Mine weren't steel though, they were aluminum. Is this right? I got another set from Mudrat79 that were from another EA71 and those were aluminum too..... http://usmb.net/gallery/album210/pushrod This is the pic of the pushrod AFTER we tried to straighten it:-\

dude can you hook me up with a set of those??
-
well we got it pulled off and now it seems to want to work...I dunno about some carbs... I dunno...

well Andrew and I are working on an 85 2wd 5-speed carbed wagon. We finally got it to start BUT the throttle is sticking halfway open. We checked the cable and the peddle but both seem to be fine. So it has to be somewhere in the carb. Now on the driver side of the carb where the throtle shaft comes through from the other side, there is a spring that is supposed to be wound up to hold something or to help with the return of something. We have fiddled with it and we cannot figure out where it goes. Any help?

Cool thanks Corky for the link to the book. I'm gonna go look at the car that has the motor in it today. I believe its a starter on the side (84 4wd turbowagon). I'm gonna see about getting that book. Also I heard that down in OZland, they have Dhaihastu Charades that are 3 cylinder 1.0 liter turbocharged cars. I might be able to get a couple from there but it'll take forever to get them (the only draw back). So, I might have my hands on ONE Chevy Sprint turbo but does anyone else know where another one is? Maybe 2 so I can have a spare?

will this weber work??
Caboobaroo replied to The Scooby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yes that is right GD. The venturies are smaller compared to the DGV. I bought a DFV for 15 bucks at the Portland Swap Meet a couple weekends ago. I was fully rebuilt and never run but it came off of a 2.3 liter Pinto motor. The bases are the same as a DGV carb BUT if you compare the two, the venturies in the DFV are a lot smaller. I will try and get some pics of one that has an electric choke compared to one that has a water choke. If I'm lucky, I can get back with GD and we can take some pics comparing the DGV to the DFV. -

I guess I can volunteer again since it wasn't TOO bad last year. So Jason, I'll talk to you on the 23rd about it. I'd also like to meet the guy that put an EA82T into his gen 1 Brat:D -
So I did some searching on the bay of e for turbos and I came up with some ideas and questions.... So I was looking at Garrett turbos and I came across the Garrett T25 and the T28. What does the second number mean? Would a twin turbo setup from a Mistubishi 3000GT VR4TT work? Since its a v6 3.0 liter with a turbo on each bank, that makes it run 3 cylinders (1.5 liters) instead of a stock Subaru turbo which runs 4 cylinders (1.8 liters). So in reality, that should make the turbo smaller than a stock Subaru (IHIRB5 I believe) turbo right? Just a few questions since I was doin some poking around

Well Andrew, Jessica, Jon, Kit and myself (I dunno if I'm forgetting anyone) are leaving to Hood River from Albany and for those who don't know where that is, its about 30 minutes south of Salem right on I-5. So that would roughly be 5 more people depending on how many cars we have going but DEFINATLY the Beer Wagon is goin:D:D:D

HEY it was at MY house I think.....I don't need to log out at MY house:D And if it was at Andrew's house...well meh to you:drunk:
