  1. no Andrew and I had to run down to John's place in Eugene to give him some pics of our fellow Subaru member who was recently in a hunting accident (see post http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5176) But my wagon has what looks like EA81 suspension under it. It looks exactly the same. I don't se any difference but I am going to be doing a lowering job on it (cut coils:D)
  2. You may be able to outrun the car, but I do not know of a car that can outrun Motorola.
  3. thaaaaaats right people. I got the very good idea tonight of swapping an EA81T into my car. How hard would it be? I know I'll need the fuel lines, motor, new exhaust, ECM, wiring harness....is that it? Anything else I'd need for this swap? How hard would it be and what sort of mods would I have to do? I'm also thinking about putting a dual range 4-speed in too. Would that be hard as well? Has anyone done this sort of swap before?
  4. yeah and Hondasucks will be putting one on his 87 turbowagon here shortly. Maybe I'll put one on my car to help cool the spare tire:D
  5. hey it makes your car sound like a rally car:brow: Thats like 50 horsepower right there man!!!
  6. so ok, this is all dandy for the FI systems. What about us guys with carbs ie a weber and a bit more rabid hamsters under the hood?
  7. yeah it is but its a hell of a lot easier to work with than the EA81...it has a lot less vacuum hoses on it:banana:
  8. Jon has been workin on it since 5:30 and its 9:30 now. It involves bending disty vacuum adavce line connection, cuttin thetab on the manifold so it clears the disty, cuttin the metal heater hose connected to the manifold so it would clear the oil filler neck and removing a small piece of the alternator bracket so it will clear the manifold. Other than that, he's doin a great job on it. GO JON GO!!!
  9. thats right everyone, I chopped my shifter today. I took about 5 inches off of it and man does it feel great!!
  10. sounds like it might be in the tranny. Its either inside the tranny itself or it might be the front diff.
  11. 1. an LSD works when one wheel slips, one wheel grips 2. the advantage of using off road is so you still have power to one wheel when the other is off the ground 3. ok just for the records, a positrac rear end is an LSD with a different name. 4. If you don't have an LSD or a positrac rear end, you've got whats known as an open diff. basically when one wheel is off the ground, that wheel will get all of the power and the other wheel won't. I hope this answers some questions:D
  12. the STD hatchbacks had round headlights up until 87. Hondasucks had one but it got totalled His also had the 4-speed in it too
  13. Jon, I have a ring compressor. I've only done god knows how many engines with it. I bought it at Harbor Freight for like 10 bucks or so and it works great! If ya need one, I'll let you borrow mine but then you're gonna help me on my engine when I rebuild it:D
  14. Hondasucks had a 1983 GL-10 sedan 2wd. It is an EA81 with a 5-speed. The only mod I think he did was cut the shifter.
  15. well just wait till the beer wagon is first seen at WCSS6. Then there'll be lots of pics of a super cool gen 1 wagon. Oh I can't wait till then:D
  16. LOL, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ROFLMFAO!!!!! oh man *wipes tears from eyes*
  17. glad to hear thats you're enjoying yourself. What motor is that anyways? Did you tear it completly down or just to the point of the first pic? People ask me why I drink beer while I'm working in the garage. I just tell them that it helps my "lets get pissed at it and huck it across the room" mood. I bet you were feelin pretty good by the end of the night:brow:
  18. OOOooOOoOooOooOoo, build me one, build me one!!!! just put some headlights, taillights brakelights and some turn signals on it plus the plates and you're good to go drivin on the street:brow:
  19. #1. 500 bucks is a pretty decent price for an EA81t. I would look for an engine harness and under dash harness out of a turbo coupe because it will just slide right in where the wagon harness I think needs some modifying (not sure). #2. It should all bolt into your hatch if I'm not mistaken. May take some finesse but it should all bolt in. #3. I've been told by a few people that these are kind of a desirable motor but you might want more opinions on that one. #4. Check the valve covers for any signs of oil leaks and the oil pan too. Check the dipstick to see if it has any coolant in the oil (it will look like chocolate milk) and vise versa (oil floating on top of coolant when the radiator cap is removed) hope that answered you questions. #4 basically goes for any engine you're looking at whenever you're buying a full car or just the motor. Hope you have fun with it cause its gonna be one fast hatchback:headbang:
  20. I agree with Qman. It sounds like the temp sensor is shot so it thinks the car is warm when in fact its not. But when it gets warm, the sensor basically right so it runs fine. Try replacing it, it should be all good then.
  21. man Mike that sucks. I hate guys who do that. Oh well here's a for your problems:headbang:
  22. have you tried to pull it apart and see if it can be fixed?
  23. why oh why does my wagon hate me??? I wanna come soo bad but the wagon needs to be fixed first
