  1. does anyone know if the EA81 solid front rotors are the same? I want to redrill a set of rotors so I can make my car a 5-lug or a more common 4-lug pattern and I thought the easiest way would be to machine a set of hubs for it. Does anyone know if they're the same and if so, how hard would it be to redrill the hubs with a mill?
  2. if ya drive all the way out here, I'll help ya with the noise too:D Maybe even take it for a spin.....but I agree with everyone else. It sounds like your tires might not be EXACTLY perfect so its binding the tranny a bit hence making a whirring sound.
  3. and hopefully MAYBE Andrew will have the sedan goin good...I've never been wheelin in a Subaru before and I can't wait. I think he needs to get a job or some sort of income so he can pay for his insurance and the parts to fix the beater up a bit.....you know I'm just givin ya a hard time Andrew:D
  4. Subaru_styles has an RX body kit on his car. Nothing extrodinary but I did see this car in person. Its a niiiice ride....especially the box in the cargo area and the alarm that can wake up the whole neighborhood (no joke is has 5 loudspeakers on it). He's done the 5-lug conversion on it and put aftermarket rims on it. He has a cold air setup using a FI air hose like the one in the pic Toyofast just posted but its carbed. If you ever get to see this car in person, I would highly recommed it
  5. I do know that the fuel pump buzzing is normal. I don't know why it would be that loud but I know its supposed to buzz when its pumping fuel. Usually when a pump is gonna go out, its a gradual thing so if you haven't noticed anything unusal, then it should be fine. It will start to cut out every now and then if it was showing signs of going out. I don't think its anything to be worried about.
  6. if you're gonna use the 1600 rods, then I would also use the 1600 pistons too. The pistons are made to take the compression better than the 1800 pistons. It would be a waste of time if you decided to put the 1800 pistons on the 1600 rods. I think you'd start to run into a lot of problems. As for the bearings, I would have the crank regound just for good measure. If you end up not regriding it and you reasseble it, you have a chance that your bottom end could possibly go out on you then you'd have to tear it all back apart after you've done it once before. Trust me, I've been there, done that and no its not fun in the least bit:madder:
  7. man you let the magic smoke out. Now it won't work. Sounds like you have a power wire gettin grounded. Look around the starter cable to see if somehow it was moved in suck a way that its being grounded on the case.
  8. this is a good sign your alternator is going bad. At least its not going up in voltage and not stopping because that can start to fry major electrical parts. I know if your alternator goes bad and you have a digital dash, it can sometimes take a toll on the dash which we all know, is not a very cheap part:banghead:
  9. well today was fun. Finally got to met a few more people from the board at Mudrats shop and go to see the Rubicon video that was taken. I'll I have to say is wow... But it was great to meet all of you today and to see some of the soobs, especially John's hatch.......that thing is HUGE!!!
  10. I've got my 79 wagon 4wd:D which I still need to get running and off of Hondasucks property:rolleyes: I can't wait to pimp that around...oh and your coupe and your wagon are NIIIIIIICE:headbang:
  11. hey Jon, Andrew and I start school on the 29th bro. I dunno when the next good day would be. As it is, I gotta get my shed together so I can move all of my car stuff into it so my dad doesn't threaten to throw it away anymore. We are STILL, and I mean STILL waiting to get paid so we can get the 84 turbowagon from Mark:banghead:
  12. ok ok, here's what you do... 1. remove old worn out seatbelts 2. Look in a catalogue 3. Find 5-point racing harnesses 4. Buy harnesses 5. Install harnesses 6. No more problems with retactors I hope this helps:brow:
  13. hey, I'd pimp it around. Its a Subaru isn't it? At least they're trying, give them that much credit.
  14. dude, what happened to the front wheel of the Brat? What did you break?
  15. well there's this 79 brat down the street from me. The body is pretty strait but its got a few minor dings to it nothing major. It needs a paintjob soon cause the paint is very faded and the clearcoat looks to be peeling off. The interior is ok but needs some help. It has a stock pushbar on the front of it. It has stock rims and ok looking tires. I've heard it come down the street a few times and it sounds like its running ok but may need a tune up. The lady is asking $2000 for it. I'm thinking about asking her if she'll take $1000 for it, maybe less. What do you guys think its worth?
  16. hey dsmracer. Nice to see you've joined our message board. As for upgrade parts, the clutch from a XT6 will work in your 88 GL. Its lighter and its bigger than the one in there. Since your tranny is Full Time 4 Wheel Drive, you can swap the tranny out for a dual range RX 5-speed tranny. You'll have the joys of have a 4 low and a 4 high and taller gears since its out of a more sportier car. As for the brake pads from a 90 loayle, yes they will fit. If you need anything else answered, just ask anybody, someone will know. Welcome again:banana:
  17. hey subaru_styles, whats the red button for just to the left of the steering wheel???
  18. nice stereo or not, its still a nice job on puttin it in. Maybe if I feel so inclinded I'll post a pic of my stereo in my wagon. I did a nice job it almost looks stock:brow:
  19. boneyard? what? Lots of Soobs? hrmmmmmm.....they got any gen 1 wagons storm? cause parts are always good:brow: Or you could give me directions and I could find it. I'm a Cali guy:headbang:
  20. man I wish I could come:boohoo: that and Hondasuck's 82 4x4 sedan is being a pile of....well you know what I mean. I've never been to one and I wanna see what its all about. I've heard the many stories from people and it sounds sooooo fun:banana:
  21. most GL-10 wagons, sedans, XT turbo 4wd, XT6 4wd and a couple others I think
  22. yeah they'll fit but when you do the fronts, get the control arms with 14mm bolts instead of the 17mm bolts. The 17mm bolts will not bolt in but the 14mm will
  23. yeah those two bolts that hold the cable to the pedal assembly is a pain. Hondasucks's turbowagon only has one in but it still works. I couldn't really get the other one in and my back was killing me about 2 hours later. Good to hear that you got it fixed Mike:banana:
  24. the RX is lookin good. keep it up. Thanks Adam, I needed to know that cause Hondasucks didn't so thanks again
