  1. well I'm gonna go up and get the 30.06 out and have shooting contest on Andrew's car:brow: well maybe not. Anyone else have any ideas? Any part of the clutch assembly I could check without pulling the tranny or the motor out? The fork boot is torn so I might be able to get my pen light in there and see if the pressure plate isn't broke. If it is.....time for an XT6 clutch with the RX tranny:headbang:
  2. well I replaced the clutch cable with the help of JonOfScio but still nothing. The pedal depresses but will not come back up like it is being held down from something. Then you have to use your hand to bring it up and it goes back into place where its supposed to be. I think the pressure plate might be fried but I hope not. Also, I got the cable off of an 88 sedan 2wd 5speed and its exactly the same but the pedal setup on the sedan was different than the wagon. In the wagon, there's this big spring that is connected to the pedal in a weird fashion and I guess its to help with the return? But the odd thing is, the sedan in the JY didn't have that spring. What do I do now?
  3. that sounds like it could be the problem. The clutch seemed really weird when he traded Edrach his Legacy for it. The clutch had so much freeplay in it and it didn't disengage until right next to the floor. It was kinda gradual but it happened in about 20 miles of driving or so (from his house to mine). I'll see if I can get one from a wrecking yard or from a part store and hopefully have it in before he gets home:banana:
  4. I don't think its a ground because if the ground for the low beams went out, the highs wouldn't work either because they have a shared ground with each other. Check all of your fuses and also check the alternator for any problem. The dash might be the problem but before you go cutting stuff out, make sure you check everything that could be wrong before you go cuttin away.
  5. he has an RX tranny he's going to put into it. If something is wrong with like the clutch and it has to be replaced, I'm probably gonna put the RX tranny in. Does anyone have any suggestions on why this is happening? I want to get some idea of what could be wrong before I got into it. I need to get it doen bafore he comes home or else he's gonna do this to me:dead:
  6. well Hondasucks is in Utah so he's letting me pimp around the turbowagon. Well I was driving it home from his house after working on the ole beer wagon and the clutch gradually started to not disengage. It got so bad that I had to adjust it before I got home cause it would NOT shift into gear unless I forced it or ground it, YIKES! I need to know why this is probably happening. The other thing is that the clutch pedal doesn't want to return to where its suppoesed to be, meaning it stays on the floor. I need to fix it before he gets back in a week!!! Any suggestions on something I could try?
  7. I've always thought it would be fun to take an XT6 and make it a twin turbo...hmmm that could be a Vette killer lol.
  8. well I'll give a hint. No its not an STD and its not a 360. that should be a good enough hint, right Jason?
  9. 500 bucks? hmm, I guess my wagon was a STEAL then. Ony 200 bucks and I drove it home 40 miles. I saw a 78 Brat here in town that I wanted to get. The guy was asking 400 obo on it. I never got to look at it before he sold it. stupid me, stupid me...:madder:
  10. I've been told by Andrew that the STD was below the DL line. He had an 87 hatchback that was a STD. He said he loved it cause it was sooo nice. I wonder how nice it is with no options??? But I still like my 79 DL 4wd wagon. go old school!
  11. geez, what is it with people and stealing Soobs??? Now I'm gonna go install my car alarm. Lets see anyone get past it....
  12. Andrew needs one for his 87 turbowagon. He was going to go down to a muffler shop and have them make one for his "rally car" but if he can get one for a bit cheaper, I know he'll do it!
  13. I know that Hondasucks's 87 turbowagon has no muffler on it. It has a nice rumbly sound to it but its still not incredibly loud........................until you get on it:brow:
  14. I was just wondering if anyone knows if the EA81 struts and shocks will fit into my 79 wagon. Any ideas?
  15. its fine if you take it out even for the winter time. What do you think we do when winter comes and we have cut our airboxes apart? Glue them back in and cut them out in the spring? No we go out to the snow and play!!!
  16. hey Jon, I don't think a lot of people on the board quite know what the gut is. For anyone who's like "Whats the gut???", the gut is basically where a bunch of people get together and do some illegal street racing. Oh and trust me, the little Honda boys think that their cars are all that. Well let me just say that Andrew's turbowagon has left quite an impression on them. They see it and go "Holy begeezus that things fast dude!!". No no no little boys, its just cause your car is really slow!
  17. if you do plan on cutting the bottom of the airbox out and putting in a K&N air filter, you'll probably increase by about 10 hp or so. 2 of the easiest ways to make any car preform better is open the intake (less restrictive) and open the exhaust up. When the air can pass into a car smoother that it did, you'll increase hp like gutting the airbox out. Same with the exhaust; put a better flowing exhaust on it and you'll notice more power. If you decide to only mod either the intake or the exhaust, thats fine but you won't get the full effect of it until you mod the other. It works hand in hand.
  18. there's this stuf called Sea-Foam. You can put it in your fuel and it help rid your motor of carbon build-up. My friend's 87 Ford truck was pinging really badly at high rpms so we put a can of it in his gas tank. The pinging stopped and it had a lot more power. I know NAPA sells it. Its in a little can I think about the size of a pop can.
  19. hey Mike, Andrew said that you had a set of 14" pug rims. Got any pics of them? I'm looking for a set that I can either put on my wagon or trade for another set. I found a set of 15" pugs in my friends garage but they're her mom's so I'm gonna ask her if she'd trade.
  20. so I'm thinking about putting a weber on my EA71 wagon. What should I get? I'm used to Edelbrock and Holly carbs not Weber....
  21. hey bratsrus1, you said that you have free trannies? I making a trip to pick up an 84 turbowagon that needs a tranny. Maybe I could pick both of them up and put the EA81 in the wagon and use the EA71 for my 79 wagon..... I'll have to check on days that I have free to do that
  22. yeah it sounds like your ball joint. My dad's truck has bad ball joints in it and when you step on the brake lightly, it clunks also. Sounds like I get to have fun on it:madder:
  23. on my 79 wagon, I'm doing a dual exhaust setup. I figured out by talking to local muffler shops that putting an h-pipe in right behind the motor will help with the back pressure and help equal out the pressure in each bank making it produce more lower end power. unless you plan on straight piping it all the way to the rear, I suggest using glasspacks to help with the back pressure. But you should put in a crossover pipe in somewhere to help with the equalization of the pressure in each bank of cylinders.
