Check the main power wire going from the fuseable link under the hood (I believe is right near the battery) to the headlight switch. Mine burnt up and I lost all lighting. All I did was run a heavier gauge wire to the switch and cleaned all the contacts on the circuit (grounds by the headlights, all the bulb connectors and such). Worked fine after that. I will see about getting out my '78 FSM and see what wire it is.

That would work. Anything over 50mm is going to rub on the springs, especially under hard cornering.
-
55mm is quite a bit of offset. Just make sure to check the clearances between the inside of the tire and the rear coil springs. I had a set of Prodrive P1s 17x7 +53 on my XT6 and they rubbed on the springs.

You can do it. You'll need the larger rotors and calipers with brackets and pads.

There is tons of info on lowering an EA82 without a 5-lug conversion. 2wd rear shocks mount to the trailing arms where the rear axles go through them on the 4wd which makes them shorter. Also, 2wd XT front struts are believed to be shorter then any other EA82 2wd strut.

The AVCS codes, P0026 and P0028 indicate it was run low on oil enough to trigger these codes. I work for an independent Subaru shop and so I get to see what happens when people run their Subarus low on oil enough. Did a new shortblock in a 2004 Forester 3 years after we did one because he decided to change his oil every 5k miles, instead of every 3k. Even though the dealer says you can do it every 5k, you have to remember that even a quart low on a 4.5 quart system can eventually wreck havoc on the internals. Run low on oil and signs of it, walk away unless they want to put a warranty on it. Oh and even though aftermarket warranties can be good, they can also bring a lot of headaches as far as where you can take it to and what THEY will pay to replace. But that's just my $0.02

I have a complete 5-lug conversion for sale....... Everything is good as most of it is coming from my driver, '89 XT6. I'm down that way quite often so shipping would be nonexistent:drunk:

Anybody want to trade Gen 1 projects?

I do have a black RX coupe..... But it's an '89... -
I have a set of Impreza GR2s from my XT6 that I would see if you're looking for a set at a good price. Probably let them go for $75 and they have 15k miles at most on them. Putting my AGXs on this weekend:headbang:

Documented: The 1970 FF-1 Project car...

You could use polyurethane to glue it down. Can be kind of messy though and a little can go a long way. It's the same stuff that glass guys use to glue windshields into the vehicle. Can take up to 24 hours to cure properly and I would use painter tape to hold the moulding in place while it cures. -
I don't remember what the spring rates where. It's been 5 years since I looked at the ones on my RX and almost 3 since I put them on my XT6. Going to be doing some suspension swapping between both cars here real quick and I will look when I do.

Tons Old School Subaru Decals on Ebay
Caboobaroo replied to Pooparu's topic in Products for your Subaru
Sorry I haven't gotten back to you Earl. Thats the only pic I have of them but there's a guy down under that has a set for sale. Unfortunately, he wants an arm and a leg... I got a leg but could someone lend an arm? Just realized I took some new pics of the car and still have to upload them. Hard to get a lot of pics as it has become my garage queen... -
I have the GR2s for an Impreza on my XT6 with the coilover sleeves and I also have the AGXs on my RX with coilover sleeves. Only issue I've had has been on the 6 due to added weight over the front. If I hit big enough bumps, the struts will bottom out. Working on a fix for that currently:banana:

Getting a Brat, T-coupe has to go!!
Caboobaroo replied to chef_tim's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Tim, does this happen to be the maroon T-coupe that Bill sold you many years go? -
Packard wires I believe are OEM replacement wires. I use them all the time and never have an issue unless the spark plug tube seals are leaking or mice have gotten to them. If it was me, I'd start by checking the easy stuff like plugs and wires. If the problem persists on the same cylinder, then swap the fuel injectors between the #2 and #4. Again, if the problem persists on the same cylinder, I then would perform a compression test and a leakdown test. Only time I get that far is when there is a internal issue like a burnt valve or more. Also make sure there's no corrosion on the terminals on the coil pack and if there is, clean it off with a scotch brite and replace the plug wires.
