There's a bit more involved then that. You also need to have the correct EJ parts in the front end with a 5-lug conversion. Then use the EA82 top hats on the front and the rear will need the EA82 top hats and have the correct bushing setup to keep the suspension happy. Might be more to it but I can't think of it right now.

Projector lenses into GL/Loyale buckets
Caboobaroo replied to Turbone's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
I have some headlights and can probably pick up some projectors.... -
Should be the dealer installed cruise. If its not working, make sure the vacuum chamber under the hood (will be a big black ball bolted to the passengt side strut tower) and if it does, you might want to check the clock spring under the steering wheel. And since I gotten 3 PMs so far, no I am not going to sell my cruise control setup! Its getting installed in my RX currently.

Just because you look under the car doesn't mean if you have them or not. They're usually in the upper half of the exhaust pipe to keep them from hitting on stuff. There should be one located in the top of the first cat which can be seen under the hood on the passenger side. Follow the back of the engine closest to the bellhop sing and you should see the sensor sticking up. The second one depends on year of vehicle. Sometimes they are sticking up from the second cat and connect close to the first sensor's pigtail. They also can be under the car pointing out of the exhaust toward the butt of the driver. This one come up along the driver side of the transmission and crosses over the top of the transmission bell housing and plugs into the harness on the passenger side.

New clutch slips, how to float gears?
Caboobaroo replied to the sucker king's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just have to ask to rule it out.... Did you make sure that the clutch disc isn't in backwards? Been a few years since I did an EA clutch and don't remember if it's possible. -
I'm coming up with a crank sensor/harness issue. Check the connector where it plugs into the harness, check the wiring with an ohm meter from the pigtail where the sensor plugs in to the ecu plug. Also check all your grounds to make sure they're tight.

Rear speaker size in an '87 GL coupe
Caboobaroo replied to Dj7291993's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have 6 1/2" Pioneers in the back of my RX. I don't think I had to do anything to get them to fit either, at least nothing extreme. -
Yeah the cut off for an external filter was 2004/2005. It's now in tank and I have yet to see a bad filter. Heck I haven't even seen a bad pump in one of these newer cars.... But on the bright side is they are very easy to remove and install. There should be a access plate under the floor behind the rear seat, which after removal of that, the couple fuel lines and electrical connector, it'll unbolt and come right out.

Seems you know your Subarus so this will be easy for me to explain. The XT6 had an ER27, which is an EA82 with two more cylinders, but still had 2 timing belts like the EA82. The EZ30 flat 6 is the one you're thinking of. It has a timing chain setup and is roughly based on the EJ design. As for a XT turbo, only if it's decent shape. Granted, it still has an EA82T in it but that can be swapped for an EJ20G, or an EJ257......

I have a complete cruise kit from my '87 GL and I will see if there's a part number on it. It had a large black ball bolted to the passenger side strut tower, buttons on the steering wheel, brain behind the driver side kick panel, and the electrical harness was a plug and play, like a dealer install option. I will try and get some pics when the weather lets up.

Brad at Xact machine. I can't remember his number but we use him all the time for our Subaru heads. He's located in Bothell just off of 405.
