  1. Rainy day bump! Bring your Subaru by for an inspection or just an oil change. If its powered by an EJ25, we can also check the condition of your headgaskets and give you a quote. We won't be beat!
  2. Ive dropped them in ATF for a couple days to help free them up.
  3. Engine is done. I know that sound all too well as I had 2 EA82Ts die with that noise. Time for another engine. I actually have an EA82T that I'm not sure whats up with it. If you want it, come pull it and its yours. All I know is that the last person to DD the car said it was starting to overheat. I'm just going to scrap it and drop in my EJ22T
  4. I'm not going to make it. The XT6 isn't close to being ready to drive yet.
  5. I've also done them on 2 cars before. Both my silver RX and my XT6 have them currently. The RX has KYB AGXs with the sleeves and the XT6 has KYB GR2s with the sleeves. My only issue with them is since the front of the XT6 is so heavy, I bottom out the struts every once and awhile. Here in the next couple months I'm getting some BC BR coilovers for it. Remove strut assembly, remove tophat and factory spring, install the coilover sleeve, adjust to the height you want and reinstall.
  6. I also have a million Subaru clutch alignment tools in my toolbox currently as I work for an independent Subaru shop out here in Seattle area. If I were you, go to your local Harbor Freight and get the few tools you'll need. I use a 14mm 12pt 1/2" drive socket from Harbor Freight and it cost me like $3 bucks. I would do the clutch and the separator plate at the same time because it doesn't make sense to do it after you do the headgaskets. Also, make SURE you get the updated separator plate as the factory one in your car is plastic and from '99 and up, they went to aluminum which stay sealed better for longer.
  7. What about the EA81 coupe? Technically the EA82 coupes are referred to as 3-doors...
  8. Steve, if you need any help, I can try and assist over the phone if you'd like. Shoot me a PM with your number and I'll be in touch:)
  9. We actually sell complete gasket sets for doing headgaskets on these and they're an updated MLS headgasket. The brand is the Subaru aftermarket called 6-star and you've gotta be on a special program to get them. We do them all the time at my shop but we also sell all the parts, instructions, and some of the materials needed to do the headgasket jobs. PM me for details if you'd like!
  10. Probably to change the signal from a 4/8 cylinder engine to a 6 cylinder engine. I can't remember what the add on does exactly but I think it changes the pulse the tach gets... Oh and take your time. All you really need to do is label where all of the original plugs went, cut out the bit that you don't need, add in the couple of wires you will need and you're done. For the horns I recommend running the power wire from the original horns to a relay and run the Hellas off of a larger power from the relay.
  11. Thats how it goes my friend. You have to remember the age of the car too. Even on some of the newer Subarus I work on (I'm a mechanic at a local independent Subaru shop), I still have some issues with getting the fuel lines off of the filter without damaging them. Also, if you want to get parts without driving that far, you can order them online and probably get them faster then the local dealership could.
  12. If you're in the area, I do have an EA82 4EAT for sale...
  13. They can be available when you're ready for them. I just gotta pull them off the car.
  14. Let's hope its the cable guys. I also know that of the pivot ball for the clutch fork will eventually wear through the fork causing it to crack, which makes it seem like a cable too. I went through the trouble a few years ago replacing the cable and it didn't fix the issue...
  15. I'm not sure if there is a difference but I'm scrapping the drivetrain in my '89 RX and have the cats you might need.
  16. Really? The only differences in grille mounting that I was aware of was the 3-door vs. sedan/wagon...
  17. I'm just going to do a lift under mine but I've also been tossing around the idea of a fuel cell as well....
  18. Tex, if you get this shoot me a PM about registration.
  19. Umm no not quite. The base where it presses into the hub is different between a lot of the studs which is why its hard to find one that works. OP, good luck finding some. I've been looking for them for the last 4 or 5 years with no success...
  20. Unfortunately I will only be there for the show on Saturday. That weekend also happens to be the 2 year mark for my girl and I so other stuff is planned that weekend as well. Don't wanna keep anyone up again this year like at Stevenson a couple years ago, right monstaru?
  21. Earl, I need to get some new decals made for my XT6 but I'm looking at doing something that was factory in JDM land but not here. I'm also working on sourcing up pics of the rest of the JDM decals so I can get those made as well.
  22. I'm planning on stuffing an '00-'04 Outback rear subframe in the back of my '87 GL coupe when I lift it but thats going to be awhile:rolleyes:
