  1. First off, any EA82 with either a turbo swao or a complete EA82T will be a nightmare to you. Just do a EJ swap into it, you'll never look back. As far as a Toyota 6 lug, I think you'll either need to drill out the wheels to fit the 4x140mm lug pattern or drill out the hubs for 6 lugs. People have done it on here, check out the offroad forum or do a search.
  2. Lemme help a bit. I have a pic of where the lines in the third pic go. They go to the turbo. The line that goes to the boost switch on the top of pic three is for the boost light on the dash
  3. rebuild kits are stupid, especially with the amount ot work to get it right without having issues within a few days.
  4. No still not done. I lost motivation awhile ago for a few months but I've had a hair up my @$$ in the last couple months so stuff has been getting done. I've been trying to get a few other things done with it too like '05 STi engine mounts, fitting that radiator in there and figuring out what fans I want to run. Oh and there's oil in it:lol:
  5. I'm running XT6 control arms, '96 AWD Impreza wagon struts, knuckles, brakes and axles on my RX. I've got -1.6 degrees of negative camber in the front with 0 toe.
  6. Not running yet but she's close I hope. Not much left to do. I gotta do timing belts in my XT6 though and since its my daily driver, that has to come first...:-\
  7. Oh man, I haven't updated this thread for a long time. More things have been done since the last update. I got all the intake/PCV plumbing in and done, had to replace the crappy F-pipe since it broke. PS lines are the EJ22T down to the ends of the flex lines, then I had EA82 ends put on so they mate up to the EA steering rack. I also cut the crap out of the core support for the EJ22T radiator to fit. Got the EA81 A/C slim fan to fit between the radiator and the PS pump with about 1/2" of clearance. Still need to figure out the other side as far as a fan. Wiring harness is in and a couple wires still need to be spliced together since I didn't want to splice them out of the car and then run into an issue of it being too short. Everything else is done though as far as I can think. Oh well maybe not the heater hoses and a couple bolts here and there....   8. I had decided it was time to take a break from the USMB since I had to concentrate more so on work and life. I've been seeing a girl for almost a year and she currently lives in Portland. We tend to see each other every weekend since one of us will drive (mostly her) to see the other person. Things have been getting more serious and her and I are getting a place together here in the next month or so and she got a job working for Evergreen Hospital since she's a medical assistant. I also have been slowly working on the RX still but lack of motivation has made the progress slow. Since work has been slow, money has been real tight as well so another reason why progress has been slow. The swap though has been making progress recently because I've gotten a fire up my @$$ to get it going. Doing everything I can without much money but I realized, there's quite a bit to do that doesn't involve money. I'll be updating my thread in the Retrofit Forum. So what all did I miss?
  9. I've done a couple different things in the past. The best thing I did was TIG weld some new studs into the heads, cleaned up the welds with a scream reamer (or a Dremel with a grind wheel if you use electric) and voila done. Other thing I did was what GD said. I drilled it out to accept a 1/2"x20 thread, used loctite on the threads of some all thread, screwed it in there using the double nut system, cut the studs off, made the gasket surface flat, center punched the now steel inserts, drilled, tapped and put factory studs in.
  10. For the 5-lug conversion to use the '04 STi parts. You need to keep the XT6 lower control arms and rear hubs. Everything else can be adapted to fit. Rygyver (sp?) here on the board makes custom adapter rings that get welded into the center of the STi rear backing plates, then drill 3 holes and they bolt into the car. The use the XT6 hub with the STi rotor and caliper and the rear stuff is done. Front, keep the XT6 control arms and ditch everything else. I have '96 Impreza parts on the front (knuckles, brakes, axles, struts) of my RX and have the rear backing plates done already. The front Brembos I have been told will bolt onto my knuckles but if not, I'll just probably put the '04 knuckles on, along with some different suspension. I'm also been contemplating the STi rear subframe and lateral link suspension setup in the back too but its way too complicated for me to get into right now but I have a feeling it'll work in combination with a widebody:brow:

  14. It depends on the setting you're using. Only time it should have a "load" is when you use the defroster. Reason being is to keep the A/C compressor from getting siezed while not being used during the winter months. So the defroster kicks the compressor on and cycles it. Also helps pull moisture from inside the cabin as well.
  15. First upgrade to the RX, do the 5-lug conversion using a mix of Impreza and XT6 parts. Second, do an EJ turbo swap. I know people want to try and build an EA82T like Rob and I did once before too but in all reality, for the price to do the swap, abundance of aftermarket parts and the fact that you can make some serious power from an engine that has been proven to make it that doesn't need to be constantly rebuilt or repaired. My old '89.5 RX was a nightmare. Thought I could build a decent EA82T but after 3 engines, lots of research and time, found it was actually almost 2x more money to build the EA82T for the 300hp mark then it would be for an EJ turbo swap and decent mods. I currently have under $1k in an EJ22T swap with Impreza 5-speed and 3.9VLSD. I think Rob has about30k on his fully rebuilt EA82T and its having some umm.... issues:-\
  16. Well I did some work on my RX finally! Got all the plumbing for the PCV, intake pre and post turbo, MAF, air filter and part of the wiring harness installed on Friday. Doesn't sound like much but it took me a bit to get it situated. Tomorrow I'm working on getting the harness finished in the car, and the PS lines done, along with getting the interior put back together
  17. I've had drainplugs that Jiffy Lube has put back in prior to me doing the next oilchange and had to use my impact hammer to get it to come out.
  18. Well time for me to pipe up in this thread since I had done this swap. I had bad luck with a couple bottom ends but they held up until either the oilpump went in the first one or I blew the ringlands in the second. First setup was a stock EA82T bottom end, rebuilt gen 2 turbo heads, '88 XT N/A spider intake with the 280ZX turbo injectors, AFPR @ 40psi, TD04 turbo @ 14psi, Megan Racing 3" bellmouth downpipe, WRX TMIC, Samco intercooler hoses, AEM cold air intake. Oilpump went south, took bottom end with it. Second setup was the same as before but I used a SPFI bottom end. I was living in Wyoming at the time so altitude of 7200 feet above sea level which is why I was running a bit more boost. I never hit fuel cut and was running a boost gauge, narrowband A/F guage, Greddy Profec II B-spec boost controller. A/F never dropped into lean, always stayed on the Stoich/Rich line. I did the injectors and the AFPR at the same time and it seemed to make a decent difference for me. Remember, it will be key to be able to tune the vehicle. Tuning is the major key to keep the engine happier BUT you still have to worry about the cooling system issues AND the fact its an EA82T:rolleyes:

I washed my XT6 I recently tinted my roomate's tail lights in his '00 OBS I've been doing some wiring, plumbing, and mucho crap on my RX Did an oil change in my other roomate's '96 Impreza that has a '03 WRX swap in it, then did an oil change on another friend's '02 2.5TS wagon that has a '06 WRX swap. Also been helping my roomate put a new core support on his '94 Impreza wagon rally car
