  1. if you can get a pic of the threads, you might be able to retap them and fix them. Only way you're gonna fix it...
  2. IIRC, I had 185/70R13s on my gen 1 Brat and it was slammed and never had any rubbing issues. Probably could only get 1/2" more drop from it if I wanted to...
  3. Primewells are garbage. We sell them at work and they are horrible tires. I'll check at work to see if we might have any other tires that are 13"
  4. The only man to have done it is the one to ask. His board name is kingbobdole...
  5. No I think they're awesome plates, definetly make the car stand out!
  6. Its amazing what can be done in a day isn't it Ed:grin: I'm surprised no one has said anything about the license plates yet:banana:
  7. Jibs, Skip just did a swap on his Brat and I have done the same thing in the past. Here's Skip's thread http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=93437
  8. Depending on what you want to put in there, it can be done but it depends on the amount of fabbing you wanna do. I put '05 STi seats into my '87 RX. kthxbye
  9. I wish I was slow enough at work to work on my car...
  10. I can see what I can do but the whole two jobs thing kinda kills my spare time:-\
  11. sweet dude, I can't wait to see what you do to this beast. You gonna make it 4wd eventually?
  12. well you're doing better then I am! I still have a lot of work to do before I get mine to run. That and I still got to pull a diff for you. Anyways, hope you get it running great!
  13. For those of you that know either Jon or myself, this car my parent's picked up a few years ago from the second owner, both owners were little old ladies that drove this car maybe once a week, and yes, it has that low of mileage on it. Sat around in my parent's driveway since my youngest sister was too lazy to get her permit/license so she could drive it. Thus, Jon picked it up from my parent's for what they paid for it and lemme tell you, it was a hell of a steal. Oh the pump, you can use any EA82 FI pump but you'll have to do some line replacing for the flex lines to ones that'll handle the pressure IIRC. Go Jon go! Soon you can drive up here to see me;) I need to get back into gear on my EJ swap though:rolleyes:
  14. do it, if you get it to work, then that'll be awesome. If not, you can always sell the parts and recoup your money from it. SHouldn't be too hard though, just some time and ingenuity:banana:
  15. none of my factory service manuals show any sort of gen 1 power steering setups. I would believe that possibly an EA81 rack might fit with some modifications but for the pump, that might be tricky. I do know that the EA81T and all EA82 pumps are the same but the bracket that bolts onto the EA81T sits back onto the motor since there aren't any timing belts to clear like the EA82. What sucks is that I haven't seen a gen 1 EA71 that have the bosses on the block like the EA81Ts and the later EA81 NA engines. I would think that if you could find the rare EA81 PS pump that sits off on the passenger side over the head, it might be doable.
  16. I bet since you can do a rear disc swap on a gen 1, you should be able to do the XT6 parts in the rear, maybe with a little modification to the trailing arms because of clearance issues. fron you should be able to ream the balljoint hole and modify the strut tower to accept the XT6 struts but the axles, I don't have a clue. Hybrid maybe?
  17. No, '81 was the last year of the gen 1 Brat which had the EA81 and dual range 4-speed IF it was a GL. '82 was the bodystyle and suspension change to the actual EA81 bodystyle (well that we refer to as an EA81 car).
  18. Well crap, I found a pic of an EA81 '81 Brat and it had the side mounted starter... I was almost sure that maximumBrat's old EA81 '81 GL Brat had a top mounted starter for some reason.... Now I'm all sorts of confused:-\ And now I feel like a n00b again.....
  19. I know they did GD, I've seen one in person and remember the top mounted starter. The '81 GL Brat was the only car to come with the top mounted starter EA81 and a d/r 4-speed.
  20. The engines physically are the same but the difference between the two is the '81 Brat still has a top mounted starter on the bellhousing where the newer EA81s have the side mounted starter. So the bellhousing on the engines would have to be swapped.
  21. Like it was said, the y-pipe and the muffler are the same on the 2wd and 4wd cars. The mid section is not however as on the 2wd, it sits in the trans tunnel and will block the driveline on the 4wd.
