  1. Tex, the drivelines for all EA 5-speeds are the same, however the FT drivelines have an extra vibration insulation in them according to my FSM. Lengths and everything are the same, I used one from a '86 PB4wd wagon long ago. I also have the shift linkages and since they're special to the RX box, I need the set you pull from your wagon to make the ones for my RX:) Then just swap to turbo front axles and you'll be golden:banana:
  2. If I remembre correctly, there are no toe adjustments on the back of EA81 cars... *pulls out '83 FSM* It says the specs for the rear toe are 0 degrees +/- 3mm Looks like it has a similar setup like the EA82 and you are correct, those three bolts need to be loosened and adjusted to where it needs to be. However, if it seems like its toed out, you have something either bent or the rear crossmember isn't sitting in the correct position bu thats typically from a hard impact such as with a curb.
  3. I'd be willing to get a set of headlights you're looking for in trade for your originals if they're in good shape with no cracks.
  4. I dropped the one I put into my old RX out of a wagon that was in the middle of a field. That wasn't much fun but it wasn't too terribly hard. Just make sure the tank is empty or real close. I didn't check when I pulled the one from the wagon... it was still 1/2 full:mad:
  5. I know your pain my friend. But this is a sign to move onto one that might not have the cancer like this one has... I remember seeing pics:eek: My first Subaru was getting close to what yours was. The rockers were almost nonexsistant, the floorpans were pretty rusted, quarters behind the doors were pinholed, the area where the seal is on the door was so bad the seal was almost falling off everytime I opened the door. I traded it for my '79 4wd wagon and the addiction started like wildfire:rolleyes:
  6. Unfortunatly I don't own any gen 1s currently but I'll post up one I might be able to get for free... '78 or '79 GL 4wd wagon, s/r 4-speed, EA71, beige, roofrack, A/C, brown plaid cloth interior, woodgrain dash inserts. Missing front bumper but other then that, the car is clean. Just like my old '79 4wd wagon I had, my second Subaru. Been sitting for years but there's no rust, no dents from what I've seen and overall its in nice shape.
  7. If you can also find me the piping from the MAF to the turbo and the turbo to the throttle body? And maybe a PS pump as well? Really I just need the piping and the MAF so I can get it running
  8. Me behind the wheel... And me on LUVMYBRAT's cherry '84 Brat. Me and my buddy Josh in Wyoming. I'm on the right
  9. I need to know if there are other MAFs that are compatible with a '93 EJ22T from the same era. I'm in the middle of doing a EJ22T swap into my '87 RX and it didn't come with a MAF. I hear there might be other MAFs that are compatible, just need to know what. I also need the intake piping from the MAF to the turbo and from the turbo to the throttle body....
  10. Its fairly easy and it helps when there's no gas in it. Drop the mustache bar and the rear diff mount, pull off the PS rear wheel, pull off the access plate and disconnect the filler tube. Disconnect the fuel lines, pull the access plate under the rear seat (or trunk/cargo area, I forget where) disconnect the fuel guage sending unit and the 15 bolts that hold it in. Keep in mind the lines are going to be very stiff and hard to get off but harder to get back on.
  11. Well I busted out my FSM to see if they might possibly be in there nd low and behold, I found lengths. Unfortunatly, the auto driveline is 4.73" shorter then the manual driveline which is over twice the amount that it needs to be shorter. I needed about 2" so now its time to find a place that'll do the shortening for reasonable. Anyone in the Seattle area have any recommendations?
  12. And this is why I spent $16 on the correct axle pin tool from Mac Tools. I have 2 of the correct tools for the axle pins. And if they break, I get a new one for free:banana:
  13. Fortunatly for me I have all my tools in my garage at my apartment:grin:
  14. The brake booster gets in the way of the second turbo and even though it'd be pretty sweet, there's really no gain from a twin turbo setup. I was planning on making a EA81TT for my old '79 wagon and figured out how to do it but there was still a bunch I'd have to do with making it work right.
  15. I have a '04 STi key that I had cut to my lock code and it works in my door locks but doesn't work in my hatch. I don't care too much but its titanium which is much stronger then the stock key is. Sounds like you might need to grease the lock mechanisms and I don't mean the cylinders.
  16. Hopefully that works for me so I don't have to get this pig shortened:rolleyes:
  17. I know Zefy on here has dropped a DOHC EJ25 into his gen 1 Brat. He'd be the man to get ahold of.
  18. That would be awesome. I have a manual one to compare it to and hopefully it's the shortened distance I need:banana:
  19. I need to know that the length of the front piece of both the 4EAT and the 3AT driveshafts are. If one or both are about 2" shorter then the manual driveline, then I'll be in business. Anyone have a chance to measure one for me? Gloyale? Turbone? I can't really get to a wrecking yard right now since the weather is crappy and I'm riding my bike.:-\
  20. I have gone over and over and over this deal with the EA82 PS setup on an EA81 but no one can think to remember it. If you get an EA81T PS pump bracket, you can bolt it to the motor and then bolt the pump to it. I have seen though, that the earlier solid lifter EA81s don't have a spot to bolt it to and some of the early hydraulic lifter EA81s have the spots but need to be drilled and tapped. You'll know once you hold the bracket up to the motor. Its the same pump EA81T to EA82 but the bracket on the EA81T doesn't stick out as far since the EA81 has no timing belts compared to the EA82. I have pics of the EA82 bracket on an EA81 if you want to get creative.
  21. AEM cold air intake from a '02 WRX Silicone and aluminum piping from the Bay of E MAF adapter from a '92 Nissan Sentra IIRC
  22. BMW E30 headlights are the same size, require modifications to the core support but would be an awesome upgrade. I want to do it but I don't have a gen 1 anymore. I will hopefully soon though:banana:
  23. Ya but I did the conversion with custom control arms and like 4 years ago, about 6 months after I joined the board:grin:
  24. I used one of the PCI kits on my EA82 and it was awesome. Never had any issues in the year I had put the parts on the car and the engine is still running today.
