  1. Car isn't too bad, easily fixable (and thanks to homie hookups for possible bodyshop usage!) so I'm not too worried about it, just pissed at myself for havin it do that. Guess now is a great time to put my XT6 swaybar in the rear (which I've been waaaay to lazy to install). Tex, I was coming down N Castle Way and it was the 90 degree right hand turn like 30 seconds from Austin's house. I was hanging out with Austin, Art and Matt:-p
  2. = my RX into a guardrail. :-\ So last night, leaving Austin's house, I was coming down a pretty twisty road in my RX. Going like 15mph cause it was real wet, dark, and I didn't know the road at all. Comin up to a right hand 90 degree turn (recommended speed was 15mph BTW), I was on the brakes, downshifted into second and my driver side front tire hit the center double yellow lines. Well the brake locked up and it decided to head right for the guardrail. Bumped the rail with the corner of my bumper on the driver side, took out the corner light, put a small dent in the fender and then the back whipped right into it so there's a crease running from above the LR tire to under the tailight (also busted the bottom of the tailight too). Then to top it all off, right after the rail ended (since I only slid like 5 feet along it) there was a huge ditch that I plummeted into. Got out of it thankfully to a driveway being 3 feet away from the front of my car but I also smoked my clutch quite a bit. Argh, time for widebody now I guess. Pics to come on my day off:dead:
  3. I guess I'll pipe in here. Firstly Gary, there is a pretty exstensive list in the USRM http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50400 I think we should modify it when we need to but use the same information between here and the XT board to help keep everyone on the same page. Since the XT4 and the EA82 cars do not differ in the drivetrain portion, then it is safe to say that the information will work with either/or. If you need more information and other discoveries I've found/made, let me know and we can continue to work on this. I know there are people (like Numbchux) that have discovered suspension upgrades fo the cars but lets keep it strictly to a 5-lug conversion.
  4. When I swapped engines in my coupe, I did the whole changeover in a night and got it running awesome. After I started driving it though, it wouldn't start back up after it had warmed up. Thought it was the fuel pump so I replaced it with a new one and still did the same thing. I finally got fed up with it and decided to start checking everything in the fuel system from the new pump, to the new filter. When I went to test the injector (SPFI), I pulled the plug out from under the manifold and it disconnected itself. I felt stupid, plugged it back together and haven't had a problem with it since. Talk about feeling stupid:rolleyes:
  5. I'll be putting some AGXs under my RX here soon. But its also 5-lug too:-p
  6. that is an XT instrument cluster. The EA81 digidash is the same exact shape as a regular EA81 cluster, the EA82 digidash is the same side to side (not without the box off to the side like the XTs and the EA81s) and then there's the XT. All EA82 digidashes are the same shape but the '85 and '86 are orange and slightly different from the '87 and newer.
  7. tizzle bring it on down and I'll see about gettin some stuff fixed on it with ya. I know a lot about EA82Ts now and how they aren't meant to be built:rolleyes:
  8. Tex I know the feeling! 3 engines in my black RX and I was fed up with it. Luckily this one is still the stock SPFI and it is ALL stock still. I'd be interested in the headlight but I'm planning on making a run to Pull-A-Part on Sunday to get a few things (like some EA82 seat rails, driver arm rest, headlight, fenders) but I do have some parking lights for the front with strobes in them that I'm debating on putting in:-p So here's a run down on what I gotta do (yay maintenance!) new timing belts, tensioners and idler oil pan exhaust, and valve cover gaskets struts and shocks (see the Holy grail EA82 shock thread for details) figure out why the damn rear defrost is dimly lit on the fash get my driver door and rear hatch tint fixed (a long story) install my STi driver seat get my STi key blank cut
  9. I'm thinkin my car is mad at me because I have yet to swap in the EJ20G:rolleyes: Or get the Brembos and swap those on. Maybe she needs some goodies to make her feel better:banana:
  10. Where everything happens at once. Last year it was blowing the motor for the last time in the RX and this year so far its been blowing an exhaust gasket, have a rock hit one of my headlights, locked my keys in my car last night at the movie theater, getting pulled over for a blown front turn signal (which also got my all stock except melon shooter exhaust and my tint questioned), rear defrost light is dimly lit on the dash and so on. So its not going good, now I got a lot of work to do on my car including an oil change, valve cover gaskets, exhaust gaskets, finish my STi seat swap, swap on a good driver side headlight, figuring out why the rear defrost light is dimly lit and well, just having to deal with my 20 year old car:dead: /rant
  11. Oh I went and got other parts as well so the trip was worth more then I had originally planned. That and I didn't have to drive:banana:
  12. Well I can get all four corners done for less then $400 ($370 or so) through work. Gotta love discounts:banana:
  13. 5x more then I originally bought the car for:-p $540 after everything (including gas and food) to pick them up
  14. Well Chux, I'm going to be doing a swap for the rears here soon (when the shocks I ordered finally come into work) and this is what I'll be running with:banana: KYB AGXs all the way around but the rears are going to be from a '96 Miata w/o ABS (less bracket crap on the shock) with my ebay coilovers and Impreza struts with the same coilovers up front. Now I just gotta figure out what to do with my bad understeer:rolleyes:
  15. Not yet, I'm still trying to get a set of seat rails from a non height adjustment driver seat. It'll go in the same way as the passenger side though. I found that doing it this way made it sit lower then if I tried to modify the STi rails instead.
  16. So Webshots is down currently but once it comes back online, my pics will reappear. If not, I'll edit to make them show up again.
  17. Yeah I was like "TTIWWOP!" to myself so I went out and took some. Thanks for the compliments guys, now I just gotta get the other one in there:rolleyes:
  18. Heh so firstly, you need to know my '87 "RX STi" is made up of a few cars. Ranging from '85-'96 is more like the span. The shift knob you see for the 4wd selector is on a short throw (and cut down) FT4wd shift linkage for the '87 RX tranny. The knob is however from a '85 GL-10 turbo sedan with dual range 5-speed (same car the checkerboard seats are from). It is however cut down about 4" or so. Suspension/brakes is made up of '91 XT6, '89 RX, and '96 Impreza pieces. Engine is from another '87 IIRC and well, you get the idea.
  19. Thats a fairly easy fix Tex so long as the rust problem doesn't continue into the floorpan. Even if it does, it's not too terribly tough to fix, just more time consuming. Just cut as much of the old rocker as you can (and as close to the seams as you can) then patch the new rocker into it. You can also drill out the spot welds and weld it into place like factory but thats a lot of work, plus you'd have to do the same on the parts car on the "new" rocker.
  20. Pics of passenger side seat in car! You can see one of the brackets I made at the very left of this pic Comparison between RX and STi seats
  21. the trim is fine if you can't get it without damaging it. The tailights though can be a bear. The black trim that runs along the top of the license plate needs to come off or you'll break off the corners of the lights. If you can't get it off, you can always bend the tab where the stud goes through on the inside and work it off but there's still a risk of breaking it. I really need the driver side since mine has a crack in it.
  22. Check the retrofitting forum on here about the EJ turbo swaps. SubaruTex is running an '87 RX with the EJ20G, Suberdave has done a couple already in a '87 GL turbocoupe and his '88 GL-10 turbowagon. I'm also planning on doing the swap this spring as well.
  23. If you grab me any of the coupe tailights that don't have any cracks, I'll make it worth your while. I also need a rear cigarette ash tray from an EA82 car with a black interior (non XT) that goes into the back of the center console. There's probably more like the bottom of the window trim on the doors and along the back of the quarter windows if the black isn't cracked and peeling but I doubt it.
