Bored? Can somebody explain how this all works?
Yo'J replied to l75eya's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Good question and nice read ya'll! -
That glf should be all power right? Fun little car! I just got one recently, I looked for years, white 81' blue interior, and cant wait to get it on the road! Everyone who I spoken with says its the best 2wd roo too!

Les shwalbis will do an alignment with a lift but they will only give you factory specs and they don't do anything custom like you might need. I would try a tuner shop or 4wheel auto? or is it all wheel drive auto, I hear there is a great subaru tech there. Its a must to do most of your tightening on thr ground too, thats great advice, but, I would not remove the lift.

Nice! You got some talent, boss! What color have you decided on? If if were a 4wd, Id say white, but being a street only car I'd give other colors heavy consideration.

New to USMB not new to SUBARUS

Do It! I love my roo. I don't know if it will ever be "The Ultimate", but for form and function, it will make it happen! Welcome! -
Defrost only works when I don't need it.

How about testing it after the solenoid behind the dash, while the engine is running, as you go through the heater settings. If that solenoid has a leak, I'd be suprised but, you would have limited function. On my wagon, the hot coolant goes through the engine to the valve and to the heater coil, at the valve there is two functions that operate together, the door for the mixed air and the coolant valve. The door has too much weight and while driving it opens to mixed air and cuts off the flow, leaving me cool air. The knob that opens that valve is like a bicycle cable but made to push instead of pull, its a solid wire and housing. The wire housing can crack and fail easily leaving you no resistance to keep your dash settings. I'm interested in what you find. Josh -
My first car had bad headgaskets. I would never have the (albeit, minor) faith in my abilities to fix a car without the experience of fixing it. I just did it in a parking space, left the motor in it and did it the hard way. If you can pull it, it will be so much easier. I had no lift. I was 26 I think...... I won't take a car to the shop for much now unless I don't have time.

Depends on what neighborhood you live in? How bad you rice up your car? I'm sure it just for how dark you want your windows beyond state law. It is novel, you got to give it that.

^^What do the rims look like?

That is good and selectively funny! Pun intended. The cable that goes to the selector from to the valve cracks easily I would start there. Its a bicycle type cable that pushes instead of pulls i.e. its solid not braided. In my wagon I have to reach under the dash to push the vent closed to get heat, its just above the gas pedal behind the heat riser. You could have a flap cover cloth thingie flapping around in there too selectively getting in the way. -
Contemplating lifting my EA81 Wagon.

So basically its blocks everywhere, with an extended steering linkage and brakelines, -
I want a light bar so bad! That is so funny! I'm driving an 82' as well. Good Job!

I had the same prob with the paint on the remans. It was just thick enough to get in the way completely. -
What are my options? (windshield/rear window seal)

Ya got that jpg.? -
I got to look up the build some time!

Are the related? I obviously have to fix the injector (#3) right away, is the iac reading that problem and giving its own code as well? I got a full tank of gas and went to eat dinner, not a mile away, ate, got to the car and there it started....drove to the grocery store with it loping and stumbling. Pulled the codes and checked my code sheet I keep handy, then babied it home. 90 lego stuffed into an 87 brat. I've been driving with no probs for a good while now, till today.

Maybe a tooth off on timing ....
-
I went about getting all the parts, like adapter plates and a clutch, suspension and fuel pump way before I started. Then I bought the donor. Just to get some expensive stuff out of the way first. I knew I would re seal it and do the timing belts later. Then the harness has time to be done, afford it and research it again and again till you are blue in the face. Then you find other issues like the head gaskets were weak or the injectors need cleaning. I have a list of unforeseen items on mine. Its a nice ride with the 22. I put in power steering at the same time.

You can get the short filter and clips and be just fine. You should. (Then get a lift at your option!) I would love to join. I got a 2" lift on my ea81 wagon w/ 26" tires, but I have no time to go wheeling. Boy I wish I did. I missed mushroom picking this year almost totally due to work. Ya'll are really cool for throwing that option out there to folks. YO!

I dunno If I can get the pics but... I used the subi to unload a semi with two 30' long slabs of sapele, as to maneuver them into the restaurant I'm working on building the bar for. After they are glued up I'll transport them to the mill for sanding. https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/qmCmf_Kf-Bw-umT078c38uef8TMHU-Q4qvPg5nORTHI?feat=directlink https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/FPiJrFEaInzBE_nstvj-weef8TMHU-Q4qvPg5nORTHI?feat=directlink
