Steam Cleaning the Engine Compartment

:clap:Yer Beautiful! I love this post! USMB Rules! Along with its members! -
So I got later wagon front springs and sourcing rx stuff here is iffy at best. I hear where you are coming from with the sucker part. The best turbo stuff,.... isn't that from the later models, loyale ect.? I wouldn't run a top strut tower brace without plumbing it to the spare tire area anyway due to common, (not so common) sense, or tie it to the frame or sub frame... if I had one. The flex is a bit noticeable, my body was driven hard before I got her, I can tell. I was just thinking about keeping the tires on the ground during certain applications of the pedal. I'm not really experiencing wheel hop or bad performance, just roll and its at stock height. My lifted wagon seems to have less roll. Maybe my rear torsion bar is toast.....? Whats the difference between the 2wd vs 4wd front struts? I don't think I've seen anything on the charts I've seen here, except spring perch placement? Thanks! Josh

It wouldn't be too hard to double them up. It was just a passing thought as I have a spare. Ejed brat. It wouldn't fit on the back very easily. Would a strut tower brace be just that much better, or both?

The Awesome Older Generation Picture Thread

http://www.webercarbsdirect.com is pretty cheap too, a little harder to navigate but $199? The base and jets will have to come local but thats still cheap.

The rear is a big hit isn't it? I'm thinking of using a lego for the rear in a ea81 coupe but I don't want to lose the rear seats. How far can you tilt the rear strut tops into the center of the inner wheel arch. I figure a bit of preparedness might save me a lot of wasted expense. I see on your build you left them straight up. If you have the time to reply it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Josh

Shucks. I was really hoping you would do this and all of us here could get a stickied thread on it. This is something that is a bit out of my ability, I don't have a welder or really know how, but, it is something I really want to do in the near future. I want to do it to my 81' two door coupe. Mostly for back road access and on road travel. Very similar to your wants. I have a ejed brat I'm might be looking to sell to afford it too. I'm really wanting to do the whole undercarriage from the ej. I'm thinking an imp... I figure I'm not going to loose too much with the trunk and it gives me a place to hide the new strut towers and with a lift it really wouldn't matter too much how the rear undercarriage fits. Hmmm, Scott, what do you think?

EJ20H swapped Gen3 Brat build Continues Tear down time.

Good to hear! I wish I could have made it there. Keep updating! -
Keep going! That sounds fun! I really like the look of the dl gen2, or 1981 to 82' fronts way better than the 83 gls and on.

I wanna know how long it will go! I'm not really personally worried about looks when it comes to my dd subi. Now if it drives funny, that is a different scenario. I would dump it if the cost were prohibitive of fixing it, well parts wise for me. If you want a newer car then thats up to you but any car well maintained usually isn't up for sale cheap. My rig looks like a hick rig but drives great and I use it for work. Without more information about the rest of the car from you OP, I would just do the belt, its kind of a fun job. When was the waterpump changed? ball joints? Steering stuff checked? wheel bearings? Brakes? Filters? All good and you still want a new car? Do the belt, then sell it!

That 'Hydro Turf' stuff looks cool! So does the hardwood flooring. It makes me want cork.... I got a full plywood back in my ea81 I use for work. it folds out to make a bed when the seats are forward. I have a piece of that out-door carpet for the back I have never installed because I figure I would just kill it. I put coroplast, the political sign plastic, down under the wood and it cut a bit of noise out. I have storage and speakers built in where the rear seats were. 3/8" for the deck and 3/4" for the built up boxes, the natural angles on the rear make a smooth transition, surprisingly. I have some design issues, like stops for the folding sections and what not, no rear seat. I keep thinking of 2" memory foam removable panels for camping and road trips.... If I could find a set of front seats that fold up flat, or a bench seat, I think it would be way cool to have a wagon that turns into a huge bed. Pad the sides and upholstery the whole thing white in a white wagon. Just for the ultimate ski or winter sport vehicle.

Nice looking ride! Congrats on the cool score! I like the stock rims, they look good with the chrome rings and centers caps.

Lots of fun! I'd do that again! -
Thanks everyone for the support! We got it back! It was found in skyway with an empty tank of gas and no harm done. They must have had a key. No curb rash, no damage, no nothing, it just smells of smoke and dirty clothes. I know who is buying a club for that thing now!

Call Fittings Inc. out of seattle. They dont up charge either. I'm amazed at their selection.

Congrats! That means you better bring him to the meet! Its on my calendar! I hear there might be a few more people showing up....... -
Thanks for the pic! I really hope it shows up. When I saw it, it looked fine, sounded good. I hope they track it down soon. I darn near could give a description of the driver if any one would care in the SPD. I just heard they dropped the State Patrol car theft dept. on its rump roast broke, so, everyone be careful out there. Taupe? Its Metro Sheik according to my lady's nail polish:lol:.
