Every little bit helps! Thanks for the nada guide post!

I wish it was a brat. Mine is an 82 gl wagon.

So first update. I've submitted $3000 current reciepts and $5000 for the 15 months that I've worked on the car. Funny, they don't recognize "Maintenance items", shocks and stuff. The first offer back now is $419, waived salvage and paid deductible. They don't credit a lift in any way, they said it would only be to the buyer, or buyer specific. They can't find any "Dealer" lifted rigs on the market, if you catch my drift. And why not?

Lookin' good over there! You know I'm jealous!

Brat chrome bed trim alternatives

I'm a wood guy, so I would use wood as it is easily cut to any shape or size. I've had wood racks on all my cars, some shapely some more utilitarian. I've always wanted to do a wood brat camper top, resume' quality. Sleek and rounded, brightworked for sure, with phosphor bronze visible. But I still want to do a subaru boat too! I guess it depends on your theme. Nice job by the way! -
Never thought of that.

FOUND! stolen subaru wagon, spokane (not mine!)
Yo'J replied to baccaruda's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Around here they found the evidence of someone trying to steal some heavy copper wire. It was live, running 405volts. They found the hacksaw in the line with a melted handle. No trace of any person though!rofl -
How did you do the strut rods? I do love that body style. I keep thinking of selling my truck for a third roo, and that would be the one. (or a restorable brat) Whats the motor?
-
Hi Ya'll, and thanks for the support, I'm sure the Ins co. will be fair with me I just have to present my case properly. The car being a 82 was in restorable condition, as restorable as it needs to be. We will figure this out. Thanks again for the support and listening to me vent. I'll keep you all posted. I'm still going through my reciepts organizing them for the scanner. You think 300dpi?

Hmm so it really doesn't need to be messed with as long as it looks good and isn't a vacumn leak? I could buff and paint all the solenoids shiny to go faster! Fit the egr to a turkey baster under your seat for when someone takes a look at your car? punka punka punka! seriously now ... Does it work with the reed valve or is that a different set of "gasses"? I put on a plate and have not blocked the reed or the pipe to the head. I would like to know whats going on, just for the knowledge. I wouldn't mind them there if it wouldn't affect the weber or operation.

...after inspecting the damnage.. a total of.... $130 something? Where is the emocon for slapping your self in the face? close enough... for a "totalled", but driveable ea81 wagon. Had no dents, all plastic, all working parts fully upgraded. Minus fees and deductible. They say they can find fair market value at $3oo and like $15? Uhh, I'll take three thank you! Any one else down>? Drive the cost up. I admit a drivers side doors and b pillar fix professionally would be very expensive on a new car, more than the cost of a un wrecked ea81 but $130 something? I haven't sent receipts or anything yet so I haven't made my claim yet but this is 2009 and this is just a note to keep your receipts. We will see how this goes. This was a hit and run so I can't sue anyone. I could only get under insured motorist coverage. I wonder what they would give for health?

bump....

I had put the plate on, but, didn't seal the pipe. Should I go seal off the pipe? Will this affect performance? ea81, we don't have much.

steering issues still, got a few?s
Yo'J replied to Yo'J's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The whole thing moves. You can reach in the engine bay and wiggle the steering wheel and watch the shaft move at the firewall. I'm sourcing a ujoint today and I might pull the dash apart to look for bolts loose or bent. I wouldn't surprise me if all is worn. I've replaced almost all wear items on the car so far, what is a few more? The only thing thats left in the car originally is the block, (new manifold) Dash, front calipers, knuckles, seat belts, carpet and the steering column, rear diff and muff (the "ler" fell off) -

steering issues still, got a few?s
Yo'J replied to Yo'J's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Its hard to believe no one has done a steering column swap for reasons of steering column woes or fixed the column wiggle. Anyone know steering issues? What makes a column wiggle at the firewall through the dash? Am I asking the wrong questions? -

OH, and no I'm not that crazy:rolleyes:, I had purchased everything just two days before the accident and I will need to drive it until everything is settled anyhow. Now, on with the evening:drunk:(insert sexy girl emocon here) Happy New Year Everyone! -
For 500 bucks it better come with the rest of the car!

HI, I'm gonna get an alignment on my subi, the side swiped one, I just got a new steering rack from red head and tie rods and ball joints and bushings in down under and I noticed my column u-joint is a little wiggly and my steering column is too. In the book(haynes) it shown a bushing on the steering shaft and a bracket, which I'll bet has another. I figure I'll get another u-joint at some point but what about replacing the other bushings? Will this effect my up coming alignment, like making it more difficult to do? Has any one done the column bushings? Is it a PITA? It was hit hard enough to turn the front wheels when parked so I'm tracking down the issues.

Well the mods are easy if you can drill a piece of metal and wrench a bolt. You will need 4 sticks of flatbar, size depending on the seat size and were you want it (for taller folk or shorter folk). I think I used 2" x 3/32" (maybe 1/16")a little thin but its what the seat was made of. Any seat will do if they fit in the car width and depth whatever. Keep your frame rails!!!!! My ea81 (totaled christmas) has 2004 outback seats with the height adjust lever. Little tight on install but if I where to do it again.... Well I'd pick a narrower style legacy bucket seat (that folds totally flat:brow:). They are nicer for skinny folk like me. If you are a bigger person, the outback seats rock as they are wider. Oh, my front set ran like $75 to $100. You can do better.
