  1. Yea I was thinking Volvo because of 3rd row seat, I know they are not wider than a roo back seat. I won't change the baby seat, it is big but the safest made.
  2. So does anyone know if you can fit 3 car seats in the back of 2nd gen outback? I need it to fit one infant forward facing seat (middle) and two boosters on either side. I am hoping that it will, I don't want to have to go Volvo route but they have 3rd row seats. -R
  3. So you said another inch & quarter so what is your total lift? I am thinking about moving up into a 2000-2004 but want to be able to lift it like my current 91 legacy.
  4. Well the boot is bad, and I figure if I am going to go in there I might as well change out the whole thing. Are the MWE Axles same quality as OEM? I have heard that aftermarket from parts stores are junk. I have outback lift on mine so need strong OEM grade or better. I have also been reading about two approaches to getting the axle out: removing the lower control arm popping the knuckle from the ball joint? Anybody try both and like one better than other?
  5. I cannot find any good threads on replacing a CV Joint. Can someone point me to good write up or thread with step by step directions and/or pictures? Cheers -R
  6. It is a sad state for subaru. I have owned 11 roos, model years from 1976-1996 and have thought about upgrading from time to time but after the airbags blew on my 96 from a slight 2 mph hit I went back to older models. The best thing about roos have been their dead reliability that they don't seem to have anymore. I have taken many over the 200k mark but don't think I would touch any think after 1995 except maybe the H6?? I used to rave to everyone about how great roos were but then my dad's 02 and my brother-in-laws 03 were total pos. Both had external HG leaks, one at 42k, steering rack issues, wheel bearings, brake issues, etc. I am missing something here, where has subaru gone wrong??
  7. Yes it is actually the part on the inside of the door on the striker mechanism. If you take off the door panel and then the door striker you will see it on there. I will try to find the pictures I took a few years back, if I didn't delete them.
  8. Great I will do both, is there actually a MAF cleaner? I have done it on other cars with carb cleaner. Anyone have a write up on cleaning the MAF?
  9. My roo has an erratic idle from time to time. I have new plugs wires, pcv, etc. It is fine 90% of the but occasionally idle will drop below 500 & barley run, sometime even die. Any ideas?
  10. So I have never changed a starter in a Legacy before, need to swap one out for my brother. Anything to look out for? Any tips or tricks? I have done them in GLs, but never legacy. One step I will be able to skip on a legacy, won't have to remove the spare tire.

    97 leggy lift

Are you looking at lifting a 97 stand legacy? I installed outback struts on my 91 legacy sits higher than 1st & 2nd generation outbacks now. Rides great, not issues at all after 6 months.
  12. That is nice clean rig, auto gets good mileage??? Isn't it a 3 speed? I found that auto cut mileage by at least 5-7 mpg on my GL/Loyale roos.
  13. So what did you use to get the 1.5 lift? Was it just the springs?
  14. I am finally getting around to replacing the gaskets on my 91 with 191k. Anything special I need to do/know? Looks pretty strait forward, three bolts, but wanted to make sure before I jump in. -R
  15. Is there a way to lift an 00-04 outback? I put outback struts on my legacy & sit higher than my buddies 02 now so he wants to go higher, what can he use for a lift.
  16. Depending on the year and model they have a separate chapter or even book on the electrical relays and schematics.
  17. I would say if you have a hayes you will regret it, get a FSM or access to one on-line. Also PM me and I will send you a great end-wrench write up.
  18. Anyone have a tune up parts list w/oem part numbers for a Legacy? I used to have one an nice excel one but lost it somehow. Also where is the best place to get good prices on oem parts?
  19. Thanks, I was trying that site this am and couldn't get there. Thought maybe they had bit the dust.
  20. Crap then I am too young to get one. So I ask here too, was their Front wheel drive models? Do they all have sunroofs? Best model years
