Actually I have a couple of people who have told me you get about another 2 inches if you use outback springs. I have both so when I do mine I will take put legacy vs outback springs next to each other & take a picture.

Great thanks for the info. That looks great! I was goign to run both outback struts and springs but did not want the hassel with control arms and such.

    outback struts

Hey hate to beat a dead horse but I am getting ready to do the same on my legacy. So from what I have heard the best set up it to use outback struts with legacy springs? I also picked up a set of 15 outback wheels and plan on running 207/70 15 Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S. How off will my speedo be? Should I be ok for tire clearance? Thanks
  6. I also love redline 75w-90ns has fixed several of mine and freinds subaru shifting issues.
  7. I have yet to see them go on a 2.2, but maybe this has to do with location? And most shops here in Colorado tell you do do the same, if they are not leaking leave them alone. I have done timing belts on mulitiple 200k 2.2 and have never done them yet.
  8. I would leave the cam seals alone unless they are leaking, but change the crank seal and oil pump seal.
  9. You might give full syn a shot. I run Mobil 1 in my cars and it curred the tick of death on my car.
  10. Probalby oil pump screws or crank seal. When was the last timing belt done?
  11. Thanks for the info. Can I avoid the rubbing issues & control arms if I just used the outback struts and reuse my 91 springs?
  12. I agree with what you are saying Gary. I just put in the kit from the ebay guys Import warehouse. I upgraded to a german made belt for $10 more but I got belt, water pump, timing belt and new idlers for $156. Only issue I had was two of the pulley's were the wrong size but all the parts were OEM quality & the water pump had the same numbers and maker as teh OEM subaru part.
  13. So I wanted to get BFT AT's but they don't make them small enough to fit on my soon to be lifted 91 wagon. Anyone have anything good or bad to say about these Yokos? I am putting on 98 outback struts & springs on my 91 wagon. I know I can go 205/70 15 how much bigger can I go?
  14. My old ones are completly toast! 175 on orignals, I also got used struts, I like my cars and parts finely aged like a good wine.
  15. Yea I am just going to cut off the tabs rather then pull the brake lines out and then bleed the system. I live in rust free Colorado so the new and old struts are rust free. How do you like the ride? Is is stiffer than before? How far off is your speedo?
  16. Thanks for the input! So you just drilled new holes for the rear and keep the newer style tophats? I like this idea since I would not have to mess with taking the old top hats off and putting on the new ones. I have been told about marking the bolt, do I need to mark anything on the rear?
  17. I am getting ready to do timing on my 175k 2.2 roo. I have never replaced the tensioner on any other EA82 motors with way over 200k but have never had a 2.2 this high mileage? What do you do?
  18. You are talking about swapping the rear the top hats right? Anyone know the height difference between using: a: outback struts/stock legacy springs b: outback struts & springs
  19. Sorry to hijack this thread but I have been looking for some who has done this lift. I am getting read to do the same to my 91 LS Wagon. I got a set of outback springs/struts to install. Did you have any installation issues? What about alignment problems? Did everything just bolt right in? Thanks
  20. That is a great point!! I have taken several roos over the 200k mark, and my latest 91 is getting clost 175k. I am going to tell him they are like a fine wine...
  21. Yea he is comparing this first Subaru to his other Hondas that he owns. I understand his point of view since I have owned 5 Hondas and never has one had a single issue. I am not living in dream land about perfect cars but going from a Hondas to this Subaru for him I can understand his frustration.
  22. Yea he is type-a with maintance, tires, fluid changes, etc. I am shocked that the tranny is going south with such low mileage. Have you had any of these issues with your 00?
  23. Really your 03 was that bad? Have you had that many problems with it? I thought they fixed the HG issue in 03?
