  1. In your area, General Disorder is the obvious choice for this type of work, especially if you're going to trust a Brat with your kid. As for what to do, a Weber and a cam from Delta would make it pretty respectable, simple, and relatively inexpensive. I ran a Weber with a 4-speed, and I was pretty content with it after I installed new engine/transmission mounts and GD de-slopped the shift linkage. Jacob
  2. How do the JDM heads flow compared to USDM NA EJ22 heads? Jacob
  3. Nice! The power over an EJ22 is worth it. You can use your EJ22 idlers and such, so it's not that big of a loss. I'm glad to know kiwi junkyards are just as incompetent as American ones are:) Jacob
  4. You should look through a few more listings. I saw one where camo was just $7 extra. Jacob
  5. It's not a small change in feel going from an EA81 MC to a Legacy one. You may be able to get away with it with the stock engine, but it's outright dangerous on my Brat. The pedal feel never felt better, but not being able to stop really canceled that out. Jacob
  6. I posted this somewhere else a while ago. Don't order from http://www.autopartswarehouse.com if you ever think you'll need any kind of customer service. I had an issue with something I ordered from there, and I had a pretty bad experience when I tried to call them. Not that it's inherently bad, but their call center is in India. The bad part is that they managed to hire some of the rudest Indians I've ever spoken with. +1 for Picasa. Jacob
  7. Sorry, no pics, but I got dash cover for less than half of that on eBay. It looks like they have camo ones too. Jacob
  8. Is that because the hill-holder is engaged? I can't imagine any other way it would matter. Jacob
  9. I guess it could be the actual lines. 5 of the 6 don't look that great. It just seems odd that they'd expand, but then they stop expanding when the hill-holder is in. I'd expect them to keep building pressure and blowing up or something. Jacob
  10. I actually did "upgrade" the master cylinder at one point, but NoahDL's advice found here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showpost.php?p=497927&postcount=6 proved true. The feel was good, but the performance was worse. I've since gone back to a remanned EA81 master. I'll consider going back to a Legacy one once I have the new calipers on. That won't explain this odd behavior, though. Jacob
  11. Nope, I just lived with it for a while. Now it's in a garage undergoing a 5-lug swap. It'll be interesting to see if it does the same thing with the new caliper setup I'm running. I'm running rear discs, so there's no adjustment. Good idea, though. I didn't notice any air after the first few bleedings. I was thinking about the soft lines, but is that consistent with the rock-solid pedal feel I get with the hill-holder? Same question for the leaky hill-holder. Would that cause a bad pedal feel all of the time except when it's engaged? Jacob
  12. I'm glad you didn't take that with any hostility. None was meant to be there:) You can email them for a price. I imagine you could get them shipped for less than $200. I'd say it's worth it, considering the risk you run of grinding them yourself. Your idle could be weird, or you may totally lose your top end or something. If you email now and don't hear back on Monday PST, let me know, and I can make sure they respond. They're usually pretty quick, though. Jacob
  13. I'm running my hydraulic lifters with Delta cams and no shims. Even if I knew the specs, I wouldn't tell you, though. I understand the expense of shipping when you could make it yourself, but they're a supporter of the board, and it seems kind of lousy to piggy-back off of their work. Maybe you could see about the price with no core? It would save on shipping. The NZ dollar is pretty strong compared to a few years ago. Jacob
  14. Right now, it's up on jackstands with no springs, let alone struts, hubs, wheels, tires or brakes. My last setup was 2WD struts with RX springs, but that was a 6-lug setup. Jacob
  15. I'm not totally sure yet. It looks like STI springs will fit with either a small spacer or by hitting the outside edge of the tower with a hammer. I'm not sure which route I want to go, though. Jacob
  16. Hard to say with so many people tightening their belts. I know I just gave away a vented front knuckle setup, though. Jacob
  17. Those springs won't fit those struts. Sell them. EA81T springs are a decent upgrade for a street-going Brat/Hatch. You shouldn't have any problems finding a buyer. Jacob
  18. Have you e-mailed Oregon Rally Group yet? They're taking suggestions. Only a few board members are even loosely associated with them, so your best bet is an e-mail or something. Jacob
  19. 1) You typically use the manifold that matches the heads for this build. 2) That's probably covered somewhere in here: linky linky 3) Yes. I've bought them before. Jacob
  20. I see a Ruddell license plate cover. Did you get it out in Port Angeles? Jacob
  21. I have some videos somewhere, but I'm hesitant to put them on. Rallyx videos almost never do a good job of capturing the actual speed. They just look like I'm driving around a parking lot or school zone or something. Jacob
  22. I don't want to get in a pissing match either, but on the other hand, it looks like I'm getting flamed in here for questioning peoples' butt dynos. Here's Matt's post that I'm talking about: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showpost.php?p=32176687&postcount=303 I don't know everything about everything, but I know I've read that thread a number of times, and my Frankenmotor was a substantial improvement over my old 2.2. It's so powerful that my doors don't shut the same anymore. Jacob
  23. It's on NABISCO, and it's called "High Compression Frankenstein". Yes, that's his username. Jacob
