  1. No, if I saw it, I wouldn't have ordered them:-) Jacob
  2. These are listed for my '85 Brat on rockauto. I ordered a couple, and they're definitely not the transmission mounts that I have on my car. Are they for a Brat with an automatic? Thanks. Jacob
  3. I thought about that, too. Of course on a Gen 1, you have the removable Subaru symbol on the steering wheel. I added that feature when I added the Grant steering wheel to my Gen 2. So my running tally is: 1) Cupholders 2) Waterproof speakers 3) Spare parts 4) Put your weed in there:) Jacob
  4. Now THAT is not a bad idea. I have plenty of crap I've been sticking behind the seats. I could just keep a screwdriver in the driver area and keep all that stuff in those panels. Jacob
  5. Waterproof what? Critters? Panels? Jacob
  6. Aside from critters, I wonder if those panels were put there to hide cocaine, like the Delorean. My t-tops look sorta like gullwings... Jacob
  7. Has anyone done anything cool with the Brat screw-on panels in the bed? I unscrewed one last weekend, and it just led down into the wheelwell. I was thinking about relocating the battery there or something, if I could find one that was small enough. A friend mentioned I could turn the two small ones on the tailgate into cupholders, so when the tailgate is flipped down, I can put my beer there:) Any other ideas? Why are they there? Thanks. Jacob
  8. Ed, Thanks for your advice with the Brat. I'll be adding some ignition components to the pile of things I bring down with me, and I won't be messing with wires that I don't understand:grin: Everyone, Show us your pics! Jacob
  9. When did you order them? They looked right in the pictures, and I saw a thread on here somewhere that confirmed they were the right ones. Jacob
  10. Wait, I was under the impression there were three mounts. Left and right engine mounts, and one transmission mount. Schucks.com says it's 1 transmission mount per vehicle. Should I have bought 2? Jacob
  11. I got them from rockauto.com. They were about $20 each, but I paid for overnight shipping so I could take a whack at this job on Sunday. Thanks for the advice everyone. I can use a jack and hand tools ok, but I'm worried about the existing bolts or something being broken. Jacob
  12. I searched, but I didn't see a how-to or anything. I'm probably going to replace the engine and transmission mounts on my '85 Brat 4-speed. I saw some people doing it once on a Nissan, but I've never done it myself. Does the lack of a how-to mean it's really that obvious how to do it? Thanks. Jacob
  13. Well, on a Brat, there's no "pushing forward" on the 4WD lever. It's done by pulling up. If I followed your advice, I would have sent my hand into my Eclipse deck at high speed:-) I'm just happy it works. Now I need to experiment with its use in rallyx. If first is too short, and 2nd is too long, then maybe 2-low or 3-low is just right. Jacob P.S. The effed up thing is that when I pull the lever up to 4-low there's actually a "notch" where the 4-low light comes on, but I'm still in neutral. Why would Subaru put that there, or why did the P.O. wear that spot out instead of the spot where it does something?
  14. The EMPIs are definitely wider. The old axles didn't come nearly as close to the steering shaft as the EMPI DOJ does. Are there any quality axles that come in a smaller diameter DOJ? I suspect some mud got stuck between the steering shaft and DOJ and forced the hose clamp thing off. I have a rallyx in 1.5 weeks, so I'm looking for a pretty quick fix. I'd hate to have to unretire the STI after only one rallyx in the Brat. I figured the Brat would make it at least a season:-) Jacob
  15. The adjustment was fine. I took it out and tried it again. It turns out I just didn't know the rules of low gear. Just because the lever is pulled up enough to make the light turn on does not mean it's in low. Also, it seems you have to be stopped. I can get it going forward in 4-low now. Thanks for the help. Jacob
  16. I blew a CV boot on one of my fairly new EMPI axles. They seem to be a little wider on the DOJ side than the ones that were in there before, so I'm wondering if a normal CV boot I can get at Napa or wherever would still fit. Has anyone had any luck with this? Thanks. Jacob
  17. Ok, so I guess step one would be to make sure the linkage goes to the right thing near the bellhousing. Thanks. Jacob
  18. In my Gen 2 Brat, 4-high works fine, but when I pull the lever up all the way and push on the gas, it feels like it's in neutral. I just sit there, and the engine revs. I find it hard to believe that the P.O. broke 4-low beyond repair, so I'm wondering if there are any common issues or easy fixes to attempt. Thanks. Jacob
  19. Yeah, I feel pretty good about the holes being in the right place. The wheel just kept getting stuck taking it off last night. A slightly wider hole shouldn't be a problem, but I definitely don't want these things slipping off. Jacob
  20. What size drill bit have people been using when drilling 6-lug wheels to Subaru's 4-lug pattern? I used a 35/64 bit, and I have a hard time getting the wheels back off the hub. I'd like to go to a bigger bit, but I don't know how big would be too big. Thanks. Jacob
  21. I'm not the type to worry about chrome very much. What about installation being included and me being able to drive home afterwards? Will that cause any problem with the seal? Jacob
  22. What type of modded seats are you running, and in what kind of wagon? Jacob
  23. Cool. I think that's a good deal. Does that include installation w/ a new gasket? Also, could I drive it home after installation without messing anything up? Jacob
  24. I'm in PA, so it might be worth the drive for a good deal. How much for an '85 Brat windshield installed? Thanks. Jacob
