ahhh....well....nevermind then.....I vote loyale with EG33
-
where did the "top speed" thread?
Numbchux replied to Jack in Norfolk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm sure it was deleted....not exactly a good idea to be posting on a public forum by how much you broke the law now is it? -
the ER27 wasn't any more available in the loyale any more than the EJ22... neither was the EZ33 in the legacy.... find a legacy turbo
-
I'm sure we'll talk again before then, but if you don't get to it before my spring break (week of march 13), I can bring down an extra tranny xmember, and probably other stuff. I got so much with Morgan's wagon!

Gentlemen, I am at your mercy.

oh, I take it you moved... yea, raven's around, lots of people are doing the gm alt conversion these days. then again, many people are just putting an EJ motor in there, so the alt is stronger that way... -
Keep that disty protected. I'm not sure if you've seen the video, but it's in my gallery, I went through the truck mud run at iron range offroad. flooded my disty. not the points, but the crank angle sensor underneath. no spark at all... and yea, a little dielectric grease on the plug wire ends, and some on the coil connections.... I've also seen people rotate the stock airbox up into the spare tire well, keeps it even more safe...

Well, I've only had this BYB rig for a week or so, and haven't had a chance to wheel it...yet, but in person, the rear suspension blocks make me nervous. but the three companies are pretty much identical. if you want to go 6", get an SJR kit. if 4" is enough (and it probably is). Then it pretty much comes down to price, and availability. CV life isn't effected almost at all by any kit offered. as long as you don't go nuts with the adjustable suspension. which you shouldn't, it just limits your travel. lots of good info in that FAQ...then hang around the offroad forum, and you'll pick up plenty. why does your profile say you're from wisconsin? -
RS that looks like an RX?

^^That is weird! I saw one here in Duluth last spring, only time I've ever seen anything other than GL's/DL's that wasn't a board member. It was a turbo, had the ground effects, but no wing. and it was black. AT, pushbutton -

Read this page: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24980 I too am wondering where you're at...I'm in Duluth with an Ozified lifted rig, and I've got an AA lifted rig (not running now) at my parent's place in the twin cities. I'd be more than happy to meet up with you and hash it out. -
I don't think it's been ruled out....it's just that people haven't taken the pictures....the next time you're out there modifying your car....take some pics and post 'em up!

Don't forget those idlers!
Numbchux replied to Numbchux's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I had something like that happen in my blue wagon....except it was one of the ball bearings out of my right front CV, I was going closer to 75, and then the ball came back, and cracked my windsheild! -
a couple additions to the family stable...
Numbchux replied to Numbchux's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Actually, I can't drive 'em both at the same time cause my blue one's got a seized motor -

yep, somewhere in that massive pile of parts that came with it....I'll be putting it on before too long...not sure if I'll be leaving it yellow though :-p -
so about a week ago both me and my mom got new cars... I bought MorganM's old wagon from 95lwrx, who had been caring for and modifying it for the past few months: and my mom got an '01 legacy 4EAT sedan. it's amazing how similar driving the 2 legacies is (she was replacing her '92 FWD 4EAT leggy...can you say EJ donor!) anyway, that brings our family count to 6....including 4 EA82 wagons, 3 of them black, and 2 of them lifted. so now I own 2 of the 3 known lifted EA82's in MN. and of the 5 lifted subarus....w00t! some specs on the PoopenVagon: 3" BYB lift 29" Wal-terrains (can you say fender trimming) 2 thrush glasspacks, EA81 Y-pipe big-arse 1/4" stainless steel skidplate (95lwrx's doing...more pics to come) custom tube bumpers with legal tow-points imitation KC daylighters on the Thule roof rack (also 95lwrx's doing...pics of the mounts later) so now I've got one of each lift, haven't put the LSD in yet, but I probably will....we'll see which one performs best...
-
get beefy bumpers (great place to use your high-lift) and skidplates to protect your engine....everything else is plenty tough....if you really want to, you could get/build a rear diff skidplate, but IMHO it's overkill....
-
I have the Sylvania Silverstars...big help!! also, as said, adding aftermarket fog/driving lights is a huge help!
-
For those who didn't konw....I just picked up The PoopenVagon, built by MorganM, Cared for, and modified some, by 95lwrx for the last few months.... Anyway, he had done the timing belt tensioners not long ago, so I didn't worry about it, but it turns out he made the same mistake I did the first time I did my own tbelts....didn't replace that idler.... And what it did to the drivers side belt... so remember, don't neglect that idler, it can wreak havoc on your motor!
-
well, I don't see much point, unless you're going to make an entire underbody skidplate, that's 1/4" thick stainless steel.....just a little tube right under the doors seems REALLY pointless to me, in my experience (buddy on the local wheeling club...with a cherokee), the sliders did more damage, cause he bent 'em at the mount, and it destroyed the body panel, and it wouldn't have otherwise....and we've got rocks up here!
-
???....that's the stock brat A-bar, he's had that on there since almost day one...and it's strong (stronger than that strap we tried to use....lol) it doesn't hurt the aproach angle more than the oil pan would, and it protects said oil pan...

Any thoughts on AWD vs. 4WD?
Numbchux replied to stoner72's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yea....the shifter's sloppy, that's a common problem. Thought the lifted '88 wagon I just bought doesn't have this problem, I guess one of it's previous owners had a solution...more on that later or.....get used to it (sounds mean, but I'm serious, I did, most of my buddies can't find my 3rd gear....) yep, you can swap in the D/R, but it's a tranny swap, and you have to figure out linkage for the extra lever...other than that, it'll be very straightforward...just chuck out the vacuum actuated pushbutton crap... -
fast is almost never better....faster = more damage, and I'm not talking dents, I'm talking bent/twisted suspension, or in mud, hydrolocked engine... there was a guy in southern MN with some land that he charged for other people to come wheel on....called Roy's Playground....the MN DNR shut him down
-
I beleive it didn't come with it....it's just an L, used to have a 1.8l, don't think it's got ABS either.
-
lol, that's what that little plastic trim piece on the door is for!
-
hard to tell from those pics, but it looks like your camber's better already!
-
yea, the EJ series engines use a very different engine management system, so the harness has to be changed at the ECU. that's why so much wiring has to be done. you can borrow some wires from other parts of the car, but essentially everything has to be redone...
