  1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds to me like the jerk you're describing is the clutch pack dragging the engine rpm's down to the same speed as the tranny, THIS is what causes wear, so by letting off the gas as it shifts to allow the engine to match the tranny speed will reduce the wear, and result in quicker shifts, though maybe not actually quicker accelleration. Another way to avoid burning up your tranny, is to not tow a utility trailer w/2 mattresses, a boxspring, 4 4X8 sheets of plywood, and a 40-foot (2 20-foot sections) extension ladder on the roof, the 2+ hour drive up to your cabin in your 3AT loyale (but I wouldn't know about that from personal experience................. )
  2. yep, FRONT springs from an 86-89 accord (prelude ones look the same, but I havnen't tried them yet) fit the BACK of the ea82 wagons (again, I'm not sure what else they would fit on, probably any Gl, maybe XT, etc.)
  3. YAY!! mine came today, now, just need to find a VCR..........
  4. My friend found this on a truck forum, and thought I'd enjoy it, so I though I'd pass it on to everyone here. http://www.stovebolt.com/gallery/alternate/lupton_si_1969_subaru.htm
  5. Is that were you're at? If so, this pizza shop is on the complete other side of the cities from us, we could caravan over, it's actually alot easier to find than I thought it would be. well, I'm out of the party, and it looks like we won't be going on a ski trip , but that means I'll probably be there we can work out the details as the time approaches
  6. I'm still not sure, the 1st will be much harder than the 2nd (annual family new years party, but I may be able to get out of it), but we may be leaving town before that, so it's still up in the air, but if I'm there, there will be the usual posse of 5 or 6 people (who may come anyway).
  7. I don't have your email, and the board says you arent accepting them, or something, anyway, here are mine 12" ultimatesubaru.org in white 8" 4WD in white "Roll Me Over" BTW, Great Job!!! lots of smilin faces on the freeway!
  8. OH yea! What ever happened with that?
  9. my friend just bought these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2494336295&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT for the motors and trannys, from that crappy pic, is it worth restoring one into an EJ__ powered baja bug? or maybe just a street demon. any thoughts? what kind of fabbing needs to be done? since he needs both trannys I'm thinking use a FWD tranny out of the donor subie. Or maybe AWD (ok, one thing at a time). Anyway what do you more experienced transplanters think? cost? I'll stop babbling now, thanks.
  10. crap, it's looking like I'm going to be out of town that day probably leaving new years eve for vancouver, then whislter/blackcomb as for location, we could meet anywhere in the cities, morgan, tony, what do you guys think?
  11. I'm thinking about this, if I buy HillbillyLes' injured wagon, and sucessfully fix it, I'll still have a good body, good D/R 5-speed drivetrain, and a couple crappy options for motors, but wait, my friend is looking at a 2.0T swap into his 2.2 impreza, hmmmm........ideas
  12. We should experiment with that, there has to be a way to make the terrain look BIGGER than it really is, no flat, I bet the best way would be on the ground right at the bottom of the hill hmmm.......$150? that's better, but still the adapter plates are quite spendy, but that makes it much more reasonable, maybe in my next wagon
  13. mine has the rotten out cat, plus about a foot of pipe before it's rusted off, great sound, but I wouldn't recommend that setup, these cars like backpressure, without it, you got almost no power And archemetis, I've thought about the ej22 swap, and that'd be great, but it'd also be $$$$, which is something I don't have much of, I think the only way that would happen is if my mom's legacy craps out. and even then, the motor would have at least 200k miles.
  14. 27th - 30th would work best for me, 31st and 2nd are possible, and definately NOT the 1st
  15. here's some more info on the ice racing, looks like it won't work out while Austin's here. http://www.glacierlakesqclub.org/
  16. Well, here we see the disadvantage to taking video clips with a cheap digital still camera, it was saving the last video while you were coming up, which is a shame, it looked very cool, your front wheel came up pretty high! as for the FWD Auto -> D/R 4WD 5-Speed swap, I don't really have any idea what I'm getting into, you can come learn with me!!! and I want to practically rebuild the motor while I'm at it!
  17. It would have been fun, elcaminokurt stopped in for a while in his dakota, it was nice to meet him. We had a great time, there a post somewhere about a meet when Austin comes in to town. E-mailed you the rest of the vids, Morgan!
  18. two vids: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=3078&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=3077&sort=1&size=medium&cat=500&page=1
  19. only pic we took, but I'll send a bunch of videos from the on-campus broadband tomorrow. sorry none of your wagon, tony
  20. I think it would be cool, subtle, but not unknown
  21. Agreed!!! That was much better than we are usually able to find around here! We all had a great time. I left my cable/card reader in Duluth, so the pics and videos (mostly vids!) will come Monday/tuesday when I have time. I don't think we even did any damage, beyond broken fog light on the impreza.
  22. I'm coming, with a carload, and probably at least one more (non-subie guys, but they love mud/cars/pizza), we'll be leaving here around 11:15, which should get us over there about noon, maybe a bit earlier. I'll be following Morgan's directions, which sound pretty clear, so I'll see y'all in the morn!
  23. I'm in, and maybe a friend or two, here's a map relative the rest of the cities, it's far enough away, I'll probably stay here if we do come, but we could do it last, then you guys could head out.
  24. don't quote me on this, but isn't there something on EA81's that needs a little, uh, careful sledge treatment, to allow the suspension to work properly? I don't have the time/patience now, but maybe poke around a bit.
