  1. You need to "burp" the boot to get air in there to equalize the air pressure. Currently there is less air pressure inside than out and you have a vacuum-type situation. Slip a flat edge screw driver under the shaft end of the boot, if you can, to let air in there. Otherwise you will have to cut off the shaft end strap and then slip the screw driver under there, then reinstall a new strap or clamp.
  2. My 2 cents as a Brat owner and driver: Wait on the Brat. There are still some deals out there. You don't have to pay 5 grand for a good Brat, yet. I bought my '86 2 years ago for 1k and I've done basically nothing to it since (well, I'm working on it now). Burns no oil and has very little rust. I've collected the parts for a 3" lift, 5 lug/rr disc swap, ej swap, XT seats & pw/pm(putting them in as we speak), etc, etc. Point is, could never have afforded all these extras if I'd paid that much for the car in the first place. Sounds like you may be looking at some of these upgrades as well. No matter how sweet it looks, as GD says, it's a farm vehicle and mountain goat. To give it street manners will require work, regardless. I say, save your dependable OBW and keep looking for the Brat. You'll get a better deal.
  3. Hi Carl. Thanks for the response. That shipping is pretty steep! I'd buy it off you in a heartbeat if I was near enough to come over and get it. I have family in MN and I may be heading up there this summer. If so, I'll check with you to see if you've sold the ps stuff. As for the mirror, I have a glassless working r/h unit, I was just looking for an easy fix. BTW, did bratsrus1 take the brackets that hold the center console to the center hump of the floor? If not, I'll definitely take 'em. -Mark

  4. I'd be interested in knowing what that sound is. I've got the same thing in my un-modded '89 GL.
  5. Don't think I'll be going to that yard ever again. Owner is a wahoo. But you can call him...Lon @ 800-452-4542 (hate even posting his # on this site)
  6. ok, here they are... http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/ad300/mcgus1/star%20edition%20sube/101_0358.jpg http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/ad300/mcgus1/star%20edition%20sube/101_0359.jpg http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/ad300/mcgus1/star%20edition%20sube/101_0360.jpg
  7. Robert, Okay, mystery solved...and my bad. On further inspection (I only glanced at it sideways last time) it isn't an RX at all, but a non-turbo 2-door slant-back, FWD, manual, Star Edition 33 of 50 (I took pics if you want me to send them to you). Typical CO car, no rust, a few dings, etc. But the yard owner is out of touch. Wanted $800 for a non-running w/ trashed int, '88 XT6. Got my runner for $400 a month ago, private party. -Mark
  8. Robert, Thanks for the call this morning. Seems like this car is a big mystery. I can't make it over to the yard until Earliest Friday, but probably not till next week. And I will take lots of pics and post them. But here's something interesting I just saw on CL, in Colo Springs... http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/1212393801.html The black one in the yard is just like it as far as I remember. But I didn't really pay attention to the details like I will next time (as you know, I have my eye on something else there) -Mark
