  1. Oh I'll see freezing temps here all right. I'll still ride in them but I'll see them. Sarge
  2. New pulley may need the inner surface of the mount hole machined slightly. Slight differences in manufacturing can cause that. Sarge
  3. Learned this one the hard way. Coulda swore I bought premixed once and filled the system with nutin' but antifreeze. Boiled over in less than 5 mins. Sarge
  4. *grin* It helped even tho I cheated and used the net to do the conversions. Math and don't get along. Sarge
  5. The last two I looked at were from a 1990. But for about $200 more I can get a 1993 (if I remember right) with less than 1/2 the miles. Sarge
  6. Techron does an excellent job. Used on bikes for years as well as my and my wifes cars. Sarge
  7. OK, I have a VW trike in which I blew the motor. Entirely my fault, a too fast timing adjustment while on a 700 mile trip which turned into a nightmare tow home at midnight and later. Actually I had problems the entire weekend but that's my life. *grin* Fun tho! So after some research I'm going to be dropping a 2.2L into it. Most are from Impreza's. Tranny is no problem, there is an adapter to bolt it in with. The intake will be changed from efi to carb most likely by Scott of Bellingham. But I need to know the cooling/heat range of the motor to plan to cooling system. What range does the motor like? What temp is overheat on those motors? Sarge
  8. OK, I found Scott from Bellinghams post (Thanks Scott!) and see that he can mod it to run a carb. So looks like it's a go! Sarge
  9. Howdy folks, I'm new here and of course have questions. *grin* I have a VW trike made from the rear end of a 1970 VW Beetle and the front of a 1979 Honda/Kawasaki/homemade. Due to some screws up on mart I detonated 3 out of the 4 cylinders and the motor is torn down. A little bit, ok a lot of research and I stumbled on bugs running a subie motor. I like the idea and am researching what all I need to do. A day of salvage yard searching tells me my most likely donor motor will be a 2.2L (think it's called an EJ22) which is fuel injected. However I know absolutely zilch about the wiring on a subie. So the following questions: 1. Can the stock wiring be made to work in the trike WITHOUT driving me crazier than I already am? 2. Would it be easier to switch to a carb? I would love EFI but am not a wiring guru by any means. In fact I rather stink at it. Basically if it can be done I almost need point to point directions or a helping hand. I know I can bolt it to my tranny using an adapter from KEP. Then I need to adapt a radiator or two into the trike. Sarge
