Then maybe he can have Arron Rodgers stop by and do a discount double check

Looks great Tom! Every time I look at my wagon, and come back and see your thread here, I kick myself for not getting anything productive done. I'll be back at it soon though.

92 loyale rim and lift question
Mechanical_misfit replied to 2.5LOYALE's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=117919 this thread may help you get an idea -
the paint on my 84 was in similar shape to yours when I got it. I used a cheap buffing compound from auto zone and my Makita buffer. I spent about 4 hours total on the entire car, its easy, and doesn't take much work to make that old paint look better. I think I gave a better explanation in my thread.

The Awesome Older Generation Picture Thread
Mechanical_misfit replied to 6 Star's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
saw these on R/Subaru. I know he's posted some of these before but there are some new ones here too. I love this wagon. the rest are on imgur http://imgur.com/a/FPbui#z3pJa -
Dude, I just needed to say that the route you took for the wheels on your BRAT looks super slick. I think I am going tone doing the same thing for The Desert Fox once I get back to work on it.

nice score. I think they have a red loyale wagon there that is the same color as yours. Had I known you where going I would loved to stop by and lend a hand and check out your loyale. Joe's is near here and I've been meaning to pick up some stuff. Did the have an ea81s over there? I gotta get my car back together so I can take it to silver lake once more before the season closes.

Joes auto parts in Spring Lake ha a few nice loyales if your looking for parts. They have a complete xt6 there if you wanna go five lug.

Good to hear you got it tuned. My thermo switch has been bad since I got The DL, I just wired the fan to a keyed power. Maybe one day I'll buy a new switch.
-
Right on! It's cool to see another member from MI on here. I take my 84 DL to Silver Lake quit frequently. I did not think there where any ea cars left here lol. Once I get my car running again we should meet up for some dune running!

Have you though about escort seats? I'm 6ft tall and about 200lbs and fit just fine. These cars are definitely small compared to the ea82 though. The back seat is pretty cramped. Also, I got a pm from you but accidentally deleted it because I have a hard time using usmb on my phone. I assume it was regarding that grill. I'm still out on tour but when I get back I'll get my act together and get it shipped to ya. If I had the money I would buy the wagon off you. But your work so far has been phenomenal, I think you would regret not finishing it this far in to it.

The BRAT is looking great. I really like what you did with the paint. ...and yeah, the BRAT is the ultimate drunk hot chick hauler.

The Desert Fox. My `84 DL Wagon
Mechanical_misfit replied to Mechanical_misfit's topic in Members Rides
So the Desert Fox has been parked for a while now. It needs some more work, and instead of putting it back together with cheap parts, I am going to save up and do some real upgrades. When I get back from tour in Sept. I will be cranking on it again. I picked up a Dodge K car to drive through our salty winters so the fox can stay as rust free as possible for the time being. -
The fox has a similar exhaust set up compared to what it sounds like you want to do. It has one of those street racer fart cans after the resonator though. It sound good though. It has a nice rumble to it.

'86 BRAT Interior Redux
Mechanical_misfit replied to scole665's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I also did these escort seat swap in my '84 DL. I would recommend doing that. I found some that matched my tan interior and only gave $35 for both of them. Now they are way more comfortable than the trashed oem seats. -
I hope the long drive over goes well. I wish I could make it down to hang out forthe day. I still have parts for both you guys.

Mounting the tall bike is easier to do than it is to explain. Left foot on the pedal, both hands on the handle bars, kick with your right foot to get going then hoist yourself up. For a brake I use my right foot on the back tire, but when I built it didn't have to ride in city traffic. hopefully soon I will find a junk bike in the trash that I can get the brakes from. Stop and go traffic isn't too bad though. I usually just slow down and grab onto a light post or street sign if I don't feel like getting down. I wish I could make it to Portland to see all the talbikes out there. I actually saw my first one on a web page ran by a freak bike gang called CHUNK 666. I think they were from there. I wouldn't be who i Am today it wasn't for tall bikes I owe those guys a beer or two.

I hope this is acceptable use of this part of the forum. So the Desert Fox has been down due to a really cranky wheel bearing, and I've been too broke to fix it. For the last two weeks I have been doing my daily commuting on my Bike. It's actually a tall bike. Is there anyone else on here who builds or rides these things? I've had mine for 8 years now. It's gone through many transformations, but the current set up seems to be the best I've had. It's a 1960's sears&roebuck mens cruiser welded on top of a 1970's English three speed road bike. It currently has a wheels set from a trek mountain bike and cheapo white wall cruiser tires. I have logged many miles on this thing since I originally built it, but I am sort of rediscovering it out of necessity. My current plans are to add a brake. It's never had one, but commuting in traffic sort of calls for it. Anyway, here it is.

If those things worked, everyone here with an ea82 would have one.

Nico, you win. You have the coolest Subaru period.

Haha! I just recently added a Faygo root beer bottle as my over flow. Kinda ghetto, but it works. I'll add something better one of these days.
