wow, I can't believe i didn't know about these guys! I would be willing to bet that it is the "Subie guys" from TC. Just look at this!
-
did this guy say were he was located in MI? I need to see this car.... now
-
I'm looking forward to seeing this project. On a side note, if you don't mind telling me, what offset did you use to correct your camber on your lift blocks?
-
what do you have for a lift right now? looks like fun!

I have not done a huge amount of searching over usmb, but ive given Google its shot. Im wondering about go fast parts for my 99 OB 2.5 5mt. I run this vehicle on the street, and plan to do a fair amount of sand dune running this summer and into the future. I am looking for bolt on performance stuff, and cheap is always good. I am, however, not afraid to spend money for quality parts. Any help with locating vendors would be awesome. thanks, MM

EJ Lift Kits For West Coast Subaru Show!
Mechanical_misfit replied to Gloyale's topic in Products for your Subaru
I'm interested in one of these kits, what is turn around time on getting one shipped to postal code 49444? Also will this work well with the stock lift on the outback wagons? My car is a `98 limited 5mt. Would the shifter linkage need to be modified, and what size tire could i fit on this thing? I'm not looking to go to big on tire size, but I'm curious as to what my tire options would be. -
very very sweet looking suby there

there is a small possibility for a group run at Silver Lake next weekend. October 31st is the last day the Orv area is open until next year. I will know more tomorrow...

We had a get together last night for a trail run, and decided on a name for our crew, No Hope Off Road. only 3 subies showed, but it was fun. Unfortunatly, EA cars are gone in West MI, So the Ej's had to step up to the plate. Jerome's 93 Imp on OB struts does work.... And my 98 Limited did alright, But im afraid to hurt it... check here for more... http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=8196&id=100000044165272&l=ff24bd191d all in all, a good day, we ran some trails, then all piled in the Imp for some end of the day Silver Lake ORV park action.

This is the reaction I normally get from local salvage yards reguarding parts for my `87 Gl 3 door. These cars are extinct in MI. I've been driving the wheels off my 98 ob 5speed, and I'm in the process of Lifting a 98 OB sport, but my real love is for my `87. It's Probably Past its prime, but I still imagine myself climbing behind the wheel and dominating the trails like I know it could. The problem is, my rear sub frame lost its battle to rust July 4 2008, when it saw one to many jumps at Silver Lake ORV park. I could go on and on, but I digress. Is there anyone else in MI who hasn't given up on the Old EA cars? And if so, would anyone happen to have a solid shell they would sell, or even a rear subfreezing/suspension assy? The Ob is great, but I cant rev it to 8,000 rpm and dump the clutch and break the tires loose like that little `87....

Want in from the cold!
Mechanical_misfit replied to ScoobySchmitty's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I've heard good reviews about this place... http://www.markssubaru.com/index.html South of MI is usually your best bet, it seems like all the inexpensive ones around here are rusted and gone. Most first gen Legacys are done... Loyales are extinct. -
i only use low range for major hill climbing, otherwise, it never even needed to leave 2wd
-
my `87 gl 3 door would do anything i needed it to here in Michigan at the Silver Lake ORV Park. The only problem I had was on "Test Hill" which is the biggest hill out there, and just as many full size pickups couldn't make that hill. I was running the same size tire than you and had no problems. It's just all about tire pressure. I Run 5lbs front and 4lbs in the rear, as long as you don't turn super sharp or drive like an idiot, you won't blow them off the bead. my friend's impreza does even better than my GL. this is a massive sand dune, and on this day, the top was almost vertical for the last 25 feet or so... I've even taken a `91 Lincoln town car to the same dune area, and it actually did better than the GL, its all about tire pressure... also note my friends lifted impreza sedan in the back ground shots...

STI-WOLF is getting Lifted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mechanical_misfit replied to one eye's topic in Off Road
I'm also wondering if this would work on a new soob GLs are extinct in this part of the country (MI) I have the only GL 3 door I've ever seen in person, wich has this lift, but is getting rusty. I just picked up a 98 Outback sport, and did the Legacy OB lift, But would do more if anyone knows about wear and tear. -
Alright folks, here it is I just picked up a 1988 xt awd auto from my friend mike. I think he was posting on here as subiext or something. Here's a pic. Anyway, here's the story. Mike ran the hell out of this car, mostly on dirt roads and two-tracks. He hit a big puddle, and it started running rough (sounds like a wet disty to me). then the car clears up and runs fine until he gets home. It starts running like crap again. He does a complete tune up on it; plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and even swapped the fuel pump just in case. He couldn't come up with anything and got sick of it. :-\ I picked it up and put a battery back in it. It won't start. It pops a little bit and almost wants to start, but not quite. I'm planing on spending all of tomorrow on it. I'm going to start by adding some gas (worth a shot, the gauge says empty, but no orange rectangle yet). Then I'm going to start checking vacuum lines. I'd like some more input for tomorrow, so if i verify that these aren't the problem, I'll have more things to try. edit, i have checked timing belts, and they are intact. I guess it's possible they may have slipped? But I'm not sure how likely it is.

hey all, I'm looking into picking up a `78 wagon that is for sale locally. I havn't looked the car over personally, but do plan on doing so. I'm wondering if you folks could inform me more on this model. How close is this vehicle to my ea82 cars? What series is this vehicle, ea81 or somthing different I'm a hardcore loyal guy, and they're all i know. What are common rust area's i should look at on this model? and what are the draw backs compared to my ea82?

beautiful car my friend. don't try to tell us those marks on the street were not from you lol -
im looking for info on a automatic trans swap for my 93 loyal sedan. it is a 1.8 stock fuel injected hot rod. It has the stock 3 speed auto fwd, and it works great, but with the highway driving i do, it would be nice to have a 4 speed I have a good 4 speed auto from an 85 xt. I also have the xt's axels. I want to put the 4 speed trans into my loyal, and I need to know if it will work. I know it will bolt up, but im worried about the electrical and about needing a different computer. any good advice would be great. I Plan on swapping for a 5 speed stick some were down the road, but it won't be for a while because im still looking for the trans and an xt6 clutch.
-
nope, the xt's have the 25. I went through the trouble of pulling them, and even had the loyale on the hoist and almost finished when i found the difference.
-
will axles from a 85 xt fwd 4 speed auto fit into my 92 loyale fwd 3 speed auto? I have yet to pull the axles from the xt, and i would like to find out before i go through the trouble.

Hey all, I thought i would introduce myself. My name is James. I am the parts guy at a local body shop. I've been into subarus for about 2 years now. I never had a "real" 4x4, because my first subaru made me belive that nothing is better off road than a subaru. I started out with buying a second hand hack job 92 loyale that a friend bought from an elderly couple. It started as a fwd auto, and then he switched it to a 4wd. he then sold it to another friend of mine, who converted it to a dual range 5 speed, and a posi 3.9 rear. That's when i got it. I beat the living snot out of it. Now it's a work in progress with a ea82T, rx struts, and 31 inch tires. It's waiting for a custom front lift before its back in action. I also have a 87 gl 3 door, wich is in good shape, It was a dd for a while, but it jumped time while offroading at the silver lake sand dunes in silver lake Mi. this one's on hold for now untill my loyale sedan is finished up thanks guys, i look forward to learning and reading all the usefull info at this place
