  1. I know. I just had my block decked earlier this year It took a 500ft lb impact to get a couple out, and that was with a torch and deep creep. Twitch
  2. Who said loud exhaust is embarrassing? Loud pipes save lives man! Well, in my case it didn't save the car, but damn that thing still sounds good... Twitch PS: True Dual Exhaust FTW
  3. Don't forget to check block surface as well! Yes, Blocks can warp. Take it to the machinist or somebody who has a machinists edge and see if there's any warp. Twitch
  4. Sooo, I used Blue Devil last night in my car. So far so good. No overheating yet. Now, since I kinda cooked my oil (schaffers) I'm thinking of 'foaming the oil on my next oil change. Any experience 'foaming turbo motors? I fear churning up some sludge and clogging the turbo feed line. Twitch
  5. If you suspect a part to be failing, as long as its not major (like your transmission or engine) bring a spare. Its a lot easier to replace and axle on the side of the road if you don't have to hit a parts store when it breaks. Also, grease all of your greasable fittings. Ball joints, u-joints, etc. And check ALL of your fasteners before taking off. I personally lost a shifter detent bolt on my way home last year, and had it not been for Jerry, I may not have made it home. So check all the bolts before you go! Twitch
  6. No, its a car I recently purchased. 162K on it as of this weekend. Completely stock, all factory stuff, aside from wear items, such as belts, hoses, fluids, etc. Twitch
  7. I'm making it. If my car is reliable enough to drive back and forth to work, its reliable enough to drive to Longview. Hell or high water won't be stopping me. Even if I have to do a full headgasket reseal on that goddamn XT I will before WCSS. I work at a Napa for crying out loud. I have a bunch of parts and a machine shop at my disposal. I WILL MAKE IT. Blown HG's or not. Twitch PS: The XT is cooling off right now so I can apply the Blue Devil treatment.
  8. Thank you, for your excellent scouting and mapping! My trip may be in trouble, as my EA82T did, what every EA82T does. Blow headgaskets. I don't have time/money to do a full HG job on the car, so I'll be testing Blue Devil's claim this week. I don't feel like dealing with a miss and having to stop every 200 miles to add more coolant. Nor do I like risking overheating in slow traffic. Twitch
  9. Discounting you of course. Ok. Glad to hear we're nowhere near a shooting zone. Twitch
  10. Just to make sure, this isn't in the "bad" part of Tacoma, right? Because I really don't feel like showing up the WCSS sporting some new bullet holes, in me, or the car. Twitch
  11. I'll contact him before I take off. This should be fun :3 Twitch
  12. Ok. That would be nice if you could, possibly with measurements... Twitch
  13. Is your thermostat an OEM one? Is your heater core flowing properly? Do you have a hose suctioning itself shut upon heavy throttle? What color is your antifreeze staying and what kind of antifreeze are you running in it? And did all the trouble start before or after you lost your overflow cap? Twitch PS: Scoobiedubie, the EA81 and EA82 are both 1.8L engines, the EA71 is the 1.6L. The EA82 is the overhead cam version of the EA81 (in layman's terms).
  14. Tag in an Idaho Rep. I'll be leaving as soon as I can to make it there. Your plan of attack sounds good to me. I had a pair of those radios, but the speaker crapped out on one and the other disappeared. Never buy Cobras. They suck. I'll see if I can snag one or two for cheap before I head over. Otherwise I have some massive hand held CB's that take a gawd awful amount of AA's to bring with me Twitch PS: If you're looking for less expensive radios: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B009KWUM2U/ref=sr_1_15_olp?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1375809675&sr=1-15&keywords=frs+radio&condition=new Kinda hard to argue with $16
  15. Ok, who all do you have caravaning down? I can handle I-90 over, I just hate (see: vehemently loath with extreme distaste) driving in Seattle Twitch
  16. You don't have to EJ it to make it fast. You don't even need to swap out the EA71 to make it fast. Just build the motor Twitch PS: Very good points JesZek
  17. Understandably. But he still needs to trade remarks with mine Dude, I'll be rolling out Friday morning. Lets pin down a meeting location we all know. Pull and Save Maybe? Twitch
  18. Car overheated Tuesday night and I about crapped myself when I watched the temp gauge peg/max out. (digital dash can't exactly peg ) So I pulled over, let it cool off and limped it to the house I was watching. Let it cool a bit, and topped it off with water. It built enough pressure in the whole system to literally blow my overflow tank cap off. Replaced the rad cap as I figured that's what was causing my phantom water loss and over pressurizing of the overflow tank, as well as causing the temp spike before it settles on normal operating temp. I'm still topping up my rad and will be flushing and cleaning the system in the next couple days to reset it back to a 40/60 coolant/water ratio. Possibly even putting some "purple ice" or "water wetter" in there to make sure this sucker doesn't boil itself over ever. I'm still hoping I got lucky and didn't pop HG's. Pray to the Subaru gods for me... Twitch
  19. Awwww. But I understand. Hope I get to see it next year... Twitch
  20. So who's gonna drive the wedge so that mine's not lonely? Twitch
  21. WCSS started with old Gen's, and we're still loyal to it! But its totally worth the time to go, because you won't really see that kind of meshing anywhere else. Twitch
  22. Oh the Irony. I'm #119 as I was debating going or not. Too late to turn back now! My $10 is in the coffers Yet another chance to cruise the beautiful Colombia Basin Corridor. This time without ringing ears at the end Twitch
  23. Big power isn't the deal with these rigs, its torque. Look at the EA81 in the BRAT. 25% more torque than HP. I think there was a reason they never made an EA82 BRAT. Not enough grunt to certify the name But I think these would sell splendidly as long as they could give it a decent tow rating, a diesel and good hauling abilities (a 5ft bed or longer). 2000lbs wouldn't be too much for a unibody chassis and with a proper bed, you could actually use the thing for hauling more than a few plants (unlike the Baja).
