  1. Go Connie! That's awesome. I'll soon have my very own snow pics. Just as soon as I get home I'll upload some and share. Twitch
  2. To repeat what GD said, "You can use either pulley, you just have to grind the spacer until the belt is properly aligned." It may not be exact, but it's easier than hunting it down and quoting it. Twitch
  3. 13" Chrome Jackmans. Suck on that biznatches And yes, I have a set Twitch
  4. Well, the visit is over by Sunday! Yes!!! I finally get to go home and see my Subarus! And my kitties, and my own horrible bed, and and and... I can't wait. Twitch PS: Tom, I did hang at walmart for like 2 weeks, my friend works there. They nicknamed me stalker :-/
  5. Still stuck here. And doing laundry right now. Anyone? Oh, and BTW, I'm sick, so I haven't been all that active or willing to do much of anything. Twitch
  6. Yeah, I do thankfully. I didn't for a couple days there :-/ Oh well, just waiting until I can find a temp job to get home or my friend is moving back in 2 weeks, so I'll have a ride over Actually I'll be driving my Blazer back over and towing a trailer of her stuff :-p Twitch
  7. So I'm probably gonna be leaving in a maximum of 2 weeks. Anybody at all around here want to meet? Twitch
  8. I have determined that I have neglected mine. And that the valves on my friend's car are hosed on one cylinder. So I tried to fix, found out it was beyond what I wanted to fight with and beyond what she wanted to fork out. Twitch PS: Said friend's car is for sale in the Classifieds.
  9. Ok, car is for sale as a whole, don't have the time or resources to rip it apart. Here's a linky start firing off those PM's... Twitch
  10. Son-of-a-grrrrrr... I had heard rumors of this, but I guess its official now. Is everybody bailing on Subaru or what? One of us needs to become a famous rally car driver. I volunteer as soon as somebody fully sponsors me through Rally School and sponsors a car for me too :-p Oh and also gives me full access to a test track and a rally prepped car for between races It'd be fun showing up the big boys with a USMB sponsored car. And yes, I would request the back window be exclusively for a USMB vinyl. Twitch
  11. Not to kick a dead horse here, but in my experiences, nothing shifts quite like a Subaru. The linkage system is a lot like a RWD transmission. And if you want play in a shifter, try driving a well worn 4 speed My BRAT had 5-6 inches of play in gear. Getting reverse required grabbing the passenger's knee. Twitch
  12. So, 2 weeks tomorrow since I got here, and no Subaru nuts to speak of. Only one I've talked to is the one letting me borrow her house while she house sits for someone. And its a partial exchange for working on her car. Does anyone from MT log on here? Twitch
  13. OK, so we got the car running, barely :-\ Bent valves, don't know which side, don't want to pour any more money into it. It runs on 3 cylinders, can smell the unburnt fuel. It has a practically new clutch (less than 1000 miles, maybe fewer than 500) some new stuff here and there, I'll be putting up a yard sale thread as soon as she decides what she wants to do with it. Also looking to see if anyone wants to buy it as it sits. The J/Y over here has a non interference EJ22 sitting in the yard, only thing missing off of the engine is the pulley that is now on the aforementioned vehicle. So, if anybody wanted to do a head swap, its right easy to do, I'll even direct you to the junkyard. Twitch PS: To answer the original question, yes, all timing pulleys from any EJ22 will swap with the exception of the tensioner pulley, which requires a specific one depending on style.
  14. I know I'm late to the party, but what the heck. I don't normally peruse the offroad section anyway. I just saw it on the rack, mucho congrats dude. Finally got some Sube love. And had I not been alone in the aisle I probably would've gotten some strange looks when I found it... Anyway, I'll send'em mine when it's actually finished :-p Hope I see more in there! Twitch PS: Does anybody know the guy in spokane with the bus?
  15. Well, when the J/Y opens next week, the procedure will be toss on a new/used pulley, new belt, and see if it fires. If it does, WOOOO!!! If not... Twitch
  16. I misspoke. I meant to convert the flappy (crappy) tensioner to the piston style. And this is a known interference engine. It's a 98 car with a new style tensioner EJ22. This is pretty much just a shot at getting her engine running for as little as possible and hoping nothing is bent and/or damaged. Twitch
  17. Ok. Thanks. I'm gonna try to snag the toothed idler pulley off of a first gen lego for a 98 lego 2.2. Hopefully it works and the car runs. The J/Y has a 48 hour return policy and it should only take a few minutes to get the car running. Twitch
  18. Is it possible to swap the timing pulleys from a piston style tensioner (setup 97 and earlier) to a 98-99 with the single piece tensioner? This is for the EJ22. Searched and couldn't find anything. Twitch PS: If the toothed idler self destructs on an interference 2.2 and we cranked it over a couple times, what's the likelihood it bent valves?
  19. Well well well. No answers from ANY Montanians. I coulda sworn there were a few people on here who called this hell-hole home. MT is nice overall, but Butte is currently my least favorite place, evar. Twitch
  20. Well, it's not my Subaru, but GirlWithALegacy's 98 Lego obliterated a timing component. Idk which one as I'm 300 miles away from my tools and am borrowing crappy off brand tools from a friend. Not to mention I'm lacking a 22mm-7/8 socket >_< And with minimal funds available, it may be difficult to get said socket. Anyway, so I'm tearing apart and trying to fix someone else's Subaru. Oh, and another rant item. The previous mechanic (PO's didn't know a spark plug from a lug nut) rounded off the a/c belt tensioner pulley bolt and I ended up breaking the adjuster bolt casing, or whatever the bolt threads into, trying to get it to let the tension out on the belt Twitch PS: Post #1000! and it only took me 2 years, 4 months and 15 days!
  21. Ah hahahahaha! That was funny. I got that through Top Gear's twitter feed. Twitch
  22. So I'm kinda semi-stuck in Butte MT and need to kill some time. Any Subaru nuts out there want to meet up? I don't know when I'm going to be leaving, but it probably won't be soon. Now mind you, I'm flat broke with only a little gas at my disposal. I'm not asking for any handouts or favors, just a little company Reply to this thread if you want to meet up, or pm me if you wish, but my phone is out of minutes, so no calling, but e-mail and text are good to go. Twitch
  23. OMG dude! You had chrome Jackmans on that car! I sure hope you saved those, they're worth a mint. I should know, I've got a set Twitch
  24. That is my 2002 Chevrolet Blazer. It's got a 4.3L V6, automatic with electronically engaged part-time 4WD, and rides and drives decently enough, but it's no Subaru. (Cough its for sale Cough) Twitch PS: I wasn't driving at the time, I was just sitting in the driveway with nothing better to do. So no, I don't photograph while driving :-p
  25. Be afraid, I'm finally posting pix of myself (no, I'm not a chick ) Let the screaming in fear commence Twitch
