  1. Kodak is currently sponsoring Photobucket, so that may be why you're seeing the funky color scheme. Nice. That'll be awesome to see drive when its all done. Twitch
  2. I'm looking at importing either a Lego Wagon or a Forester. Preferably a Forester, as they are bigger, have more ground clearance, and overall more capable for mail delivery. Not to mention I can get one for $500 Twitch
  3. I'm sure some of you have seen my thread about needing a RHD vehicle or parts. Well, I found a website that imports vehicles. JDM prices FTW!!! Anywho, has anyone tried to import a vehicle lately? I've been researching and am having a hell of a time finding any info on bringing car up to EPA spec. I think that's my last hurdle, please correct me if I'm wrong. I've got links to importing companies, shipping companies, and ports that handle vehicles. Without bringing it up to EPA spec, its currently going to cost me about $3k to buy, import, and ship/drive the car to my house. Any other suggestions? Twitch
  4. Dude, you linked to your documents folder... But sweetness divine on getting the EJ D/R. I was wondering who got that. Twitch Edit, ok you changed it. But no, I haven't been having any problems with photobucket.
  5. True that, but he's gotta know anybody who knows him from AutoX or of him from whatever Forums he's on will sooooo want to race. I know I would, in my stock BRAT Twitch
  6. EVOEATR GRNYCAR FAST GL SUBROKT 1FASTGL But SUBRDAV I think is your best bet. Twitch
  7. Well, he got his sights on a gti tranny, so hopefully he can buy it and get it installed soon. I'm getting kinda sick of playing chauffeur... Not to mention I was a clod and smoked the clutch in my BRAT But that's a whole 'nother topic. Twitch
  8. Heh heh heh... You had to know that was coming I'm glad you got figured out. And good to hear you got a loyal customer out of it too Lets hope you keep getting mitsu customers Twitch
  9. I love that color actually. Its a nice shade of Brown. Congratulations on getting it. $2700 is a pretty good price, esp considering you have practically every receipt since the car was bought. I highly recommend you keep exactly as it is. It may not be too valuable right now, but in 10 years or so its probably gonna be a valuable as an EA81 turbo coupe. Oh, and do the same thing as that little old lady, keep every receipt, do everything at the dealer, or reputable mechanic, and that baby will be worth a mint in the future. I wouldn't care if its an EA82T. If anything has been maintained like that, I would buy it. Even if its a Maserati Bi-Turbo And thank you Qman, I hate to see a good wagon thread get trashed with bad commentary. Twitch
  10. That is awesome man. Good for you. I hope he's appreciative and you get to hear about his reaction. Twitch
  11. Ok, if he's a certified Subaru mechanic I would trust this info. I wasn't sure if it was a viscous center diff or a clutch pack. If he says its a clutch pack, then it may be your clutch plates or the duty C solenoid causing the issue. Its not too uncommon to see the clutch plates fail after 150k-200k mi, nor is it uncommon to see the duty C solenoid bite the dust either. So if you're going to do it your self, pull the tailshaft housing and inspect the plates for excessive wear. If they appear to be fine, I would definitely check out the duty C solenoid. But if you're having a mechanic do it, I HIGHLY recommend taking it to a certified Subaru mechanic or at least a Subaru specific mechanic. Twitch
  12. Are all of your tires the same size and tread wear? If you're running odd sized tires, your viscous coupler would be working while you driving normally. After a fair amount of driving with odd sized tires, the coupler will get hot and lock up the center diff. That's the reason the car will stall out on low speed turns. The center diff isn't allowing the tires to rotate at different speeds. Twitch
  13. Both the stubs and the axles are 23 spline. When you switch to another transmission other than a 93 FWD Impreza, you will need to get AWD transmission axles or auto axles. The wheel hubs are just the EJ setup, so that won't change. Twitch
  14. Now, does it only slow down at slow speeds, or at all speeds? If it seems to dog at all speeds, check your tire pressures all the way around first. If any are low, then air them up appropriately, I believe Subaru recommends 27-32 psi per tire. Then do donuts on gravel, as you can listen and see if you have any wheel not slipping enough. If you do have an issue with a tire not slipping enough, it could be torque bind. I'm not sure, but I believe those transmissions have a clutch pack that runs the AWD. I'll try to find a wiring diagram to confirm this. If it does have a clutch pack that runs the center diff, get ready to order a duty C solenoid or clutch packs. They should run somewhere between $100-$150 from the dealer, or you may get lucky and find it at an aftermarket dealer for less. But if its like the early EJ 5spd with the viscous center diff, I would be looking for a used center diff, as they rarely fail. Junkyards are the best option for this, either a U-pull-it or a They-pull-it, just have to make sure they have what you need. I'm not sure if you can swap a viscous center diff into a clutch pack style transmission. It would be a good time to investigate, as you have to pull the tail housing off the transmission anyway, if it is a bad center diff. Twitch
  15. Now are you replacing the engine or the transmission? If you're replacing the transmission, then you'll need new axles, as the FWD 93 Impreza axles are 23 spline rather than 25 like the majority of the EJ. As for the engine, I believe you can use everything that's already on your current engine and be just fine. Twitch
  16. Well, unfortunately I'm unable to offload the pictures off my phone right now (piece of crap) anyway, I had a great time, made it back just fine Almost got zinged with a ticket on way home Thank goodness the cop was in a decent mood :-\ Those guys were out in FORCE this weekend. Saw one going after another guy going the opposite direction. I had a great time! But I probably won't be going over a day early again. It gets kinda lonely out there in the boonies... Overall I had a great time. Maybe next time I won't be so broke :-\ and neither will my BRAT Thanks again to everybody who helped! And I hope to be there next year! Maybe on a less policed weekend... Twitch
  17. Last post before the trip, hope nobody needed to get a hold of me :-\ See Y'all there, rain or shine, I will be there. Twitch
  18. Wow, this is just after Brian joined... He got down to business quick As GD said, good job for searching, but check the dates of the posts before you reply... Mostly so you don't sound like an idiot Twitch PS: By the way, how did that go?
  19. Got my BRAT running and ready to go!!! I'm ready for a road trip So, you guys better be ready for the BRAT meet, cuz I'm coming Twitch
  20. To answer your first question, you can clean up threads with a slightly different tap, as long as they are just starting threads and not the whole thing. Such as you can use a 12x1.5 tap to clean up some 12x1.25 threads. And if you wish to get just a straight 12x1.25 tap, good luck. I've tried to find one for myself, and they are next to impossible to get. As for your second question, if you are going to drill it to 1/2 in and re-tap, use a fine threaded tap. 12x1.25 is considered extra fine, so a fine thread standard should be ok. Twitch
  21. I like the electrical channel across the engine bay Are you gonna take care of that rust? Looks pretty nasty... Twitch
  22. Never mind, I got it with 15 minutes of heat and alternating bashing with a BFH and a steel rod. I coated it in bearing grease before reinstalling it, to reduce the chance of sticking and rust formation. Thanks for the info in the thread though Twitch PS: Its just about ready to go, I've just got to finish bolting it together
  23. So? Who's going to be up on Friday? I'll be heading up early Friday morning, as in, I'll be going through Spokane at 8 or 9 in the morning. Anybody wanna convoy? (And yes, I will play that song ) Twitch
