  1. I have a low grade Craftsman impact that's pretty good at spinning off sticky nuts and bolts and sinking them down too, but for breaking stuff loose it sucks. It broke loose my fender bolts easy enough, but those weren't rusty :-\ It also works good for lug nuts that are already broke loose. But if you want a real electric impact wrench... Twitch
  2. I'm pretty sure you're right, cuz my BRAT gauge will show 0 psi after a few minutes on the highway (3k cruising) But I have never had a rattle or a knock or a tap come from my engine. So it must be flowing lots of volume, but with not much pressure. And your formula is correct, volume increase=pressure decrease with the same flow rate. aka 2 gallons flowing at 20psi is close to the same flow as 1 gallon flowing at 40 psi, or something like that. Twitch
  3. I don't want to be rude, but I must agree with ^^. He has a point, we'll answer general questions, but nothing too terribly specific. And welcome to the board! I'm sure you'll find the answers you seek. (Must. Not. Answer. Question! :-p) I've got an 85 BRAT, an 87 GL vagon and a 90/91/94 lego So I have a small amount of knowlegde in those ranges Hope to see ya around the board Twitch
  4. You're in the right place, in two different senses of the phrase... This place is AWESOME for info on all kinds of subes. And also, there are a ton of people in your area. I'm sure they'll chime in too Twitch
  5. Or it didn't happen... :-p Lol, congrats on that dude. If the car ever gets totaled I want that engine But my Brat may not like it Twitch
  6. I would definitely do a new fuel filter and a check the fuel pump. Also, check your float bowl and your fuel lines at the carb, they may be clogged slightly. Try some seafoam through the gas tank as well, it may help. Twitch
  7. Why shift after 4k? Cuz it scares the crap out of everybody around me! :-p I love the rumbling roar I get out of my BRAT at 4-5 grand. My lego gets pushed to 4k in first then about 3-3.5k for every other gear. If I'm getting on the freeway however, get outta my way, cuz I like to do 65-70 by the time I'm merging onto the freeway. Those are usually 5.5-6k shifts. Twitch
  8. In the long run, EJ, heck even in the short run an EJ will probably be cheaper. EA82T's are infamous for self destruction, just ask Bill (TheBeastIDrive), or Rob (Turbone), or any other member who has messed with and EA82T. Not to mention you'll get twice the reliability (if you get a non-interference EJ22) and the same power with more low end. And did I mention EJ's can go over 300k without being rebuilt? Twitch
  9. I woulda never thought of that... I bought those cheapie slide-in style that basically hooks on the inside window trim. They work for small stuff, but for anything big I wedge between the seat and E-brake (as long as there are no wires in the way of it ) Or, if in my BRAT, I bought a big fat cupholder that I set between the 4WD lever and the passenger seat and directly in front of the E-brake handle. Sits nice and tight too. Twitch
  10. Hey, that's the same color as my Xandra! (90 lego) And unfortunately it seems they both like to get hit on the passenger side :-\ Ah well, as long as its not rusting out from underneath you, keep'er running! Twitch
  11. Or if you have Firefox, just go to the Add-ons section... Twitch
  12. But there is a great difference, the XT can have a FUNCTIONAL hood scoop And its not made but Mitsubshi AND it will have 4WD!!! Twitch
  13. If you can, do nice and smooth to keep the proper aerodynamics. Then put an EJ in it Can you imagine the fuel economy that thing would get? And I think that would've made an awesome 3rd or 4th gen BRAT. XT body with an EJ engine and a d/r AWD tranny Twitch
  14. I say integrate. That way it'll look like an XT until you drop the tailgate. Twitch
  15. Don't worry GD, I'm gonna replace the whole exhaust with a 2" or 2.25" Flowmaster and make sure every leak is sealed completely when its done. And the authorities just point and wave or shake their heads around here. They are much more after the "BWAAAAAP" of ricers, than the rumbling growl of an old sube. And I hope you learned your lesson :-p I've never seen a problem with a small backfire, so I'm not knocking your advise, but I wouldn't worry about it, personally. Twitch
  16. Weeeeeell, I got done putting a 5sp in Xandra (the lego) around the middle of August, put some extra outlets in her, added some extra "mood" lights and a light up shifter! I've been chasing an electrical problem in the BRAT, got a new harness for it (thank you monstaru) got a 4sp d/r to put in it temporarily (thanks again monstaru) so I can have first gear back and have no shifter slop! Ummm, gonna be tearing into the BRAT tomorrow, to put the tranny in, should be done in a few days, maybe less depending on how nicely it plays. NOt much other than that currently... Twitch PS: Bill, HOW COULD YOU!?!? RUsty is no Decepticon. Ok maybe he is, and he does look mean with those mods... Fine, he looks awesome and I'm glad you've got him. :-p
  17. I think we're on the right track with this one, but as was already mentioned, they are spendy. Another thing to check is for a leak in the exhaust. This could be allowing for a proper air/fuel mixture for the hot exhaust pipe to ignite the mix and cause the back fire. Does it rumble when you let off the gas or when you downshift? But I say if its not an easy fix, just learn to live with it, enjoy it even. To me its just another quirk about my beloved Subaru BRAT. It makes it easier to be noticed and not get run over :-p Twitch
  18. Heh, I'm sure we all have "drifts" even when it's hot out Happy to have you back in the subaru fold, or cult, whatever you wanna call it. Find a SUbe quickly! The closer to winter we get the greater the price on them! (Or at least that's what I'm hoping! ) Anyway, welcome back and I know you'll enjoy the stay, hopefully its an indefinite one. Twitch
  19. I think I'm gonna use that link... Good for you! I can find cheap cars galore, but they can't match my Subes. And not too many of these now :-p Twitch
  20. This is not old and outdated, I'll show you old and outdated... This is a day offroading, not an amazon expedition. :-p Who needs a first aid kit? I got duct tape. Twitch
  21. Another Spokanite! All right!!! Welcome to the board, I'm the village Psycho, whackjob, whatever. Glad to see you on the board and I hope you can find a good wagoon to use! I have a 87 GL I wanna dum- I mean get rid of... :-p Twitch
  22. No kidding. If you like AWD and a quality car, skip the CR-V. They're very tin boxy inside and, I feel, rather ugly. I'm a little more expensive, I require a good meal too :-p Twitch
  23. I've used empty gatorade bottles and empty oil bottles in a pinch (and a lead foot and 4 low ) Twitch
  24. Cool.

I'm probably gonna be living in Anaconda, about 15 miles NW of Butte.

I'm hoping to work at the Oreilly's in Butte, so I may see you time to time :)

  25. Welcome to the board!

If I may ask, what town in SW MT do you live?

I'm gonna be moving down there nearby Butte fairly soon.
