  1. Nice looker! It almost looks like a star wars edition :-p Oh, and if you want to make the pictures appear in your post You can type and then it'll show up like this! Cool huh? Twitch PS: Is that your yard?
  2. Congratulations!!!!! And as for the retuned carb, it may not be the carb, it may be your timing. Let me explain (even though I'll probably get most of it wrong), as far as I know, if you advance your timing it will give you more upper end torque and therefore more acceleration at higher RPM's. If you delay(?) the timing, I believe it gives you more power down low, but I'm not sure, I have yet to do any testing on this. So your disty may have been incorrectly timed on the last tune up and now that it is properly timed, you get more power! Oh, and if its ok with you, I say we should petition the mods to put this banana as an emoticon And so it has company  Twitch
  3. My sentiments exactly. The 3 cylinder justy engine is an abomination of a subaru engine. Although, I would put the EJ20 behind the EJ22. Sheerly for the fact that I have actually worked on the EJ222 and that its earlier iterations were non-interference. Oh and as for the EA82, I hope that subaru BURNS every last paper of the design blueprints for that engine. I'm going to either EJ swap mine, or find an EA81 for it. Twitch
  4. That stinks. It almost makes me regret buying my wagon :-\ I think this engine is the reason people started EJ swapping... I'm thinking about it as I have a spare EJ22 sitting around... Good luck and enjoy! Twitch PS: And of course after the EJ swap comes a lift, then either a 5 lug swap or redrilled hubs...
  5. After gathering some much needed research, I'm partly on my way to getting parts and the like for this project. I've found a brand of carbs that are already sealed, but I don't know about their quality or tuneability. The brand is dellorto, and I did a little research on them, and it seems that really the majority of the carbs they have are for motorcycles. Its no problem as long as they can provide the needed amount of fuel, as I am building a custom intake manifold. Does anybody have any experience building or tweaking these carburetors? Is there any other online resources I could use for carb tweaking or more info on sealed/sealing carburetors? (I got my info from http://www.dune-buggy.com/turbo/index.htm) Twitch
  6. Might want check that tranny again. 80-84 wagons are EA81 engines and they were mated up to a 4sp d/r. 85-89 wagons were EA82's and they had a 5sp d/r. It may have been swapped out, but an 84 should have a 4sp d/r if its from the factory. Twitch
  7. We love Skip! :D

(Nothing creepy, just wanted to say thinks for all the help

you gave me when I first logged on.)

  9. Ok, that sounds a little better. That's good, I didn't think he did, but you never know Yeah, I figured, I've known a Kelly (guy) or two in my lifetime. Anywho, how did the stang fare? It looked like he was doing pretty good, but that's only from the pix Twitch
  10. Awesome Job Man!!! That is some nice driving by your driver. Earl, is that the name I heard? Anyway, nice video too. At about 8:20 in the first video, I swear i almost hear the navigator cuss. And as for the picture link, who's the hot chick in the second picture? lol Cool stuff, keep it coming!!! Twitch
  11. hey Bill, you still up?

Don't you farmin' types get up and go to bed with the sun? :D

  12. Yeah, I know the Lube shop went out of biz. Too bad too :-\ I wasn't sure if it was his or not. I was thinking that I'd ask the police to run the plates If its abandoned I was contemplating seeing if I could claim it Twitch
  13. Sweet setup my man... And I like the placing of the external speaker Hope the antenna doesn't get messed up by the top :-\ Twitch
  14. Did anybody drop an EA82 wagon with Chromed 8 spokes park their car out at the lube shop by DQ in Rathdrum and never pick it up? There's one that has been siting there for over a week. PM me if its yours. Twitch
  15. This is going to be the official build thread for my 85' BRAT. I'm building it into a Twin Turbocharged EA81 Beast!!! Its mostly going to be seeing RallyX and the like, so I figured Racing would be the best forum for it. I'm currently fabbing ideas in my head but have a general idea of what the engine bay is going to look like. I'll have pics soon, so bear with me through my description. I'm going to have two intakes feeding two turbos, located behind the engine, on each side of the tranny. Those will be blowing into an intercooler, mounted directly above and slightly behind the engine. That will pipe into a pair of carbs connected to a custom intake manifold. Got a good idea now? Hope so, cuz I need some more. I'm currently researching the best carb for the job, and I'm currently looking up pricing on an intercooler system that will fit my needs. If anybody has any experience with this sort of thing, I would be extremely grateful for their knowledge and maybe even some assistance? Thanks for sharing in my insanity and hope to see you on the flipside! Twitch PS: Pics to come soon!!!
  16. Correct. None of the accessories have to come out. And some thing I forgot to mention is that you will need to remove the nuts that are on the engine mounts. (but its kinda given, right?) And what I did, was lift up the engine so that the mounts cleared the crossmember and moved the engine forward until it released the tranny. Twitch
  17. Thank you for cerrecting me, I hate it when I'm wrong, but I'd rather eat some humble pie than misguide anyone. And I must say, I much prefer the Quad's myself. They're easier to aim Twitch
  18. Yeah, I'll let you know as soon as I know.

I have to look up my work schedule, but I think that work the night

shift, so most likely, the earlier the better.

  19. Wow GD, even I can see that that is an EA81. They went to the solid lens design for the EA82 and on, but the EA81's had the sealed beam. Not to mention that looks a lot like my BRAT's honeycomb grille... I would say you're in the right ballpark at $300, but I would offer $200 and work your way up. Twitch
  20. Go to the User Control Panel aka User CP. It should be the left most option on the "dashboard." Click on it, and about halfway down the list on the side should be "Social Groups." Click that and it'll bring you to the whole group section! Twitch
  21. HAHAHA! Trust me, I've driven worse. My GF's car for example or the 94 parts lego I just bought. Back on topic... I would leave the car off and play with the shifter. Rapid fire shift from 1-5 with the car off and the clutch pedal out. Check for any sloppiness in the synchros and for any stiffness in the shifter. Next, start the car and while idling, push the clutch in, and do the same test as when the car was off. If there is any catching, the clutch may be out of adjustment or the synchros may be worn, and if the clutch is out of adjustment and the car was driven for a time with it out of adjustment, then the synchros are most likely worn. Hope it helps! Twitch
  22. I'm a bit away from you (north Idaho ), but have you checked the social groups section? There's a So Cal group on there, you might be able to find somebody. Twitch PS: Nice hatchBRAT
  23. Well, I have. My BRAT is currently looking for some new rotors cuz mine go (squeak*pause*squeak) every second or so depending on speed. Oh and I'm buying new pads as well Oh and Caramonos2000, I would get raybestos, or a similar brand. They're available from csk/oreiley's, and they are what my dad uses on his mail car, and my moms mail car. And you wouldn't believe the kind of torture those brakes take. Twitch
  24. I'm not too sure on what that might've been. Did you check your clutch linkage? $300 for a new/used tranny isn't bad, but $90 to machine a flywheel? Sounds like a total rip off to me. My GF got her's machined for $45 at the local machine shop. And your clutch should only be about $150 depending on where you go. (hint: I went to csk/o'reileys and got one for $160 after tax) I wouldn't scrap it because if you put that much into it, you could get at least another 200k out of it, depending on the condition of the tranny.
