I am soooooo on this list. Shawn, wow. Oh and I'm not quite to the point of parts invading the house, but they are invading other Subarus. My legacy and 80' BRAT are both currently storing, a first gen lego roof rack, two fenders, a bumper, brat rear seatbelt latches, spare tires, spare wheels, a couple oil drain pans, and the list goes on, and on, and on... I've never dealt with an EA82, so I have no clue about the vacuum lines, but there should be a vacuum diagram on the underside of the hood. That is, if it hasn't been torn off or fallen off. Twitch

Congrats! Now the big question is, does it move under its own power? All of my cars run. Not all of them can transfer that power to the wheels, but they run! Twitch

I've been pulling my axles for a tranny swap, and well, I accidentally pulled the axle stubs out with the axles. The tranny is shot so I'm not too worried about it, but I need to reuse the axles for my other tranny. :-\ So, how am I to go about removing the stubs from axles? Oh, and the axles are still attached to the hubs. I figured, why bother pulling the axle off the hub when I'm just going to put it back on? Congrat on the purchase! I have an 85 and loooove it to death. Oh, the engine is referred to as the EA81, on here it is anyway. :-p Now I must ask, do you have the 4speed dual range 4x4, aka 4sp d/r, the 4 speed single range, aka 4sp s/r, or the 3 speed automatic, aka 3AT? I agree with bill on this one. Lowriders look cool, but only the right car can be a lowrider. This badboy is just screaming for a 6" lift and 35" swampers. Twitch

A hatch STi? That thing would be awesome! But you'd have to put a pretty hefty wing on it to keep it glued to the road. Those things are about as aerodynamic as a frisbee, aka get it going fast enough and it'll fly away! Twitch

Actually its not the whole driveline, I have a 5sp d/r that I'm going to put in and then use 93 fwd Imp axles to attach the EA tranny to the EJ hub. I'm also hoping to find an lsd, but I'm kinda doubtful I will by the time this all gets started. Twitch

Actually GD, I was thinking of just extending the wheelbase to fit the Imp axles and creating custom steering, or just pulling the steering out of an Imp and modifying it so i don't have to keep making new cv axles. Is this doable? By that I mean still driveable and adjustable so it can be aligned and the like. Twitch

I wasn't going to have anything done either, I was just suggesting we could swap ideas. And do you think it would be better to do the suspension swap now and drivetrain later? Or the whole thing at once? I figured it would be easier to do it all at once. Soon I won't need the brat to drive, so I'll be able to park it and tear completely into it. Thanks for the suggestions! Ok, I may have changed my mind, if it'll work... I think I'll be putting 94 lego suspension on there. I have a 94 lego for parts and thought maybe I could use the suspension off of that instead of finding an Imp that I could scavenge the suspension from. Any thoughts if it will work with lego parts? Another thought I had was that I may be able to use outback and spec b stuff. Please, help is greatly appreciated and pleaded for! Twitch

I must agree with Erik. GM seriously needed to revamp the suspension geometry on those things. The sag like a candle next to a torch around corners. Twitch

Well Ed, I would sign up, but my rally car (aka my 85' brat) isn't up to competion standards, and it has a starting issue. Otherwise I would gladly enter. So I guess I do have an alibi! Twitch

I think it would make a great vehicle for your purposes. If you feel it lacks the power you desire, an EJ engine, or a good strong electric motor should do. It'd have to be a pretty big one for hauling all the equipment you're speaking of, but very doable. Hope it helps! Twitch

Ok. I'm going to attempt a full swap including all new Imp cv axles, hubs, brakes, struts, the whole enchilada. I know some fabbing will be required, but I figure it'd be easier than separate 5 lug swaps, and disc brake swaps. Soooo, I'm not doing it right now, but just gathering info. I'm still trying to find out what years are the easiest to get a hold of and most compatible. I know I'll need 93 fwd imp axles for all 4 corners, and I'm planning on coil overs for the suspension, maybe eibachs or monroes, not too sure as of yet. All I know is I want something rally capable without self destruction. So, to wrap it up, all you rally and street racers out there have any suggestions? And a shout out to Suber Dave, as he has already done a very similar swap to what I am attempting. Twitch
