  1. Just wanted to update. I was able to get throught the terminal for a few hours so I went through some suggestions While I had light. First off, now that I could see under the hood, I checked all the connections for the grounds coming off the battery and they were tight and clean. But the one thing that was bad were the battery posts and post clamps. I couldn't believe all the corrosion (and I mean bad all in 6 months). I cleaned them really well and sanded the posts to shiny and the post clamps to a nice brass sheen, reassembled everything, poured coke over the battery and connections, let sit for ten minutes, rinsed with water and coated the posts in fifth wheel grease (all I had at the time, My semi was my "garage" hehehe) I took my supersube down to the Autozone in Hammand IN and got the cold shoulder. I just wanted them to test the battery and they refused, they lost a possible sale and I'll never go back to those bastards again! So I went back to the terminal to see if I could find the problem with the blinker (still on continuously even after I cleaned the battery). I happened to go to the back and for sh""s and giggles I took a look underneath and found a trailer harness from the factory. Funny because there is a harness inside the car Uhaul had installed and that is the one I use. I grabbed hold of it and it was very HOT:Flame: I wiggled the wires and got the continuous light in the right blinker to go off and the blinker to work correctly. So I took some scissors and cut zzz the factory harness off, pulled the wire harness back into the car and taped it up temp so I can take care of it permantly when I get the car home. The harness is located on the drivers side of the car attached to the receiver hitch and the wire harness just goes through a grommet into the body of the car that is accessable by taking the interior panel where the jack is located off and pulling the wire through. As for the Speedo, that is still on the fritz, I have a feeling these failures were not realted but just a big cowinkadink. I will update when the other items are fixed. Hope this helps someone else.
  2. Usually those brands are just rebadged majir brand oils. That is why they usually work good.
  3. This just came to me but when I went to disconnect the battery when I got to the terminal, I thought that I saw corrosion growing on the positive battery post like a bloom. It was really dark and I was working by "feel" to disconnect battery so I am unable to be sure of this. If that is the case, that would be unusual for anything that I drive because I am so anal about keeping connections on my battery clean. I clean and put vasoline on the terminals every year of every vehicle that I own. This car was done when I bought it july. Any thoughts......maybe this could be my cause if I was seeing it right......It was 3 in the morning so I was really tired and really dark.
  4. Sorry for the confusion, I meant it made no difference for the turn signal light on the right side staying on. When I pulled the wire connection, it did kill the left side blinker but did not turn off the the constant "on" situation for the right side blinker. I hope that clears it up, if not I will try to explain better thanks:)
  5. Ok, I will probably have to wait till I get back to the house to test that because I don't carry a DVOM with me, maybe I should start:grin: Would there be any further damage If I drive it the 5 hours back home with that condition and the speedo not working?
  6. That is something new to me.....Would I just put a meter on alternating current to see how much voltage I would get.......I have always used the direct current side of my meters when measuring voltage on a car.
  7. Cougar, could you tell me if the flasher unit is the same for the left and right side blinkers. I did have the flasher unplugged because I unplugged it while I had the left blinker blinking and the blinking stopped (it was also the one that I felt vibrating as it clicked). I also unplugged the hazard switch (middle of dash switch). I don't know if there is a relay for the hazard lights that are separate from the left and right blinker relay. As much info that I can get is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. BTW I am going to be able to run by the terminal on Sunday, hopefully I will have the time to hook up the battery and get the car to Autozone and have the battery tested. I will post what I find as long as I can find internet access. Kinda difficult in a big rig sometimes.
  8. The lights are on all the time, they were still bright with key on engine off, but I will still get battery tested. thank you:)
  9. mmmmm ok I will get battery tested then at the autozone near where my terminal is when i get back on tuesday. I will keep everyone posted when I find something. Thanks for all the suggestions:)
  10. I had a 87 toyota pick em up with the 22R. You could not kill it. Finally traded it with over 200,000 with the original clutch still going strong!!!!!
  11. You will read on the bottle that you can put it in the oil. so it should not be a prob, just don't over do it IMHO
  12. I to have used waterfroth (seafoam). I Introduced it though my PCV hose and let the engine sit for 15 minutes and started it and poured more through as the car ran (about half the can) then poured the rest into the gas tank. Although the car smoked like crazy, I did not see any improvement in my mileage or performance (but I thought both were good anyway). Some swear by it but I am a firm believer in getting it done at the shop where they have the injection equipment to get a more thorough job done. I have only seen improvements in mileage and performance going that route even though it costs about $100.
  13. Thats the thing, my car still had all the power in the world, just the speedo quit and threw the CEL, that still wouldn't explain the right side turn indicators staying on all the time. I even turned off the head and parking lights to see if the turn signal wire was shorted to power from those lights.......I wonder if a relay would cause that. In fact, is there a relay that is separate from the left side blinker, and if so where would it be located? I know the blinker relay for the left side is under the dash on the drivers side right above the kick panel trim on the side of the car.
  14. Ideas, Ideas, now if I can only get the wife to get on board!
  15. Yes this is the first, I have driven this car 20,000 miles so far with only the A/C compressor siezing last summer. The temp was about 0 F at the time.
  16. Umm, yes, many accidents (not by my cause) (I drive truck now and have taken skidpad training and defensive training, haven't had an accident in years)
  17. mmmmmmmm, Oh I forgot to add that when you turn on the hazard switch, all the signal lights light up but don't flash, including the indicator lights. Thanks guys! I just hope it makes it home!
  18. Glad you got her started, maybe a hairdryer for you PS pump if you dont have that other stuff the guys were mentioning. Good luck:)
