  1. I have been told to remove the oil screens on the turbo. They evidently get clogged and don't allow for good oil circulation.
  2. yeah me too. I wonder if the block or the heads have more meat to them or something. But I have heard over and over now that the turbo 2.5's are more reliable than the N/A
  3. clear some pm's you've used up your space

  4. I bet it wasn't an XT. That would be the first turbo model to have leaky HG's that I've heard of
  5. The best bet is to put a 2.2 in there. There have been lots of people that have done it! Pretty straight forward swap
  6. I agree, I've always wanted a sedan all lifted with big tires! It looks good!!
  7. Congrats!!!!! Post some video when you can!! And finished product pictures.
  8. The reason I said throw out bearing is because that is the noise that I had in my Brat. After I replaced the clutch and throwout bearing it stopped.
  9. I've heard of a couple but I am part of a forum here in Maine, and there are quite a few people that have them and love them and have never had any problems with them! No headgasket problems at all like the N/A versions and no motor or turbo problems
  10. yeah I think it looks good! Yeah it might be better with a little lift and some bigger tires but I still think it looks Damn nice!! I can only dream of having a Brat that clean!
  11. Well I am talking about the new axles. An again I have never seen one go for that much! But they are very strong and very long lasting. The first few I installed were several years ago and no problems at all. Even the boots stay intact. And the joints themselves actually look beefier. Now the reman ones they sell are complete junk! And unfortunately that's all I can get for mt Brat. I was never able to get a hold of anyone at MWE as well.
  12. Hmmm, I have never seen Max drive for that much, I guess your local NAPA is making some money on those!
  13. go to NAPA and get the MAX drive axles. They are very strong and I have not seen one fail yet!!
  14. Yup of course you can!! You could do it along the same lines as the way you lift the older ones
  15. I'd be up for something like that!! I'd love to do a cruise with a whole bunch of Subarus!!!
  16. yup same thing here, in my region, all the old subarus rust away to nothing. It's a shame.
  17. Yeah you gotta throw some lift in there!! at least a couple inches
  18. IMHO go with a cheaper one. I have a cheaper one on my RS and love it. I can't remember what brand it is, but it is much cheaper and it works great.
  19. Yup! That's all the years that fit, but just remember that they all have the same body style as your car!!! There are a couple different body styles that intersect with those years, so in order for the axle to fit your car, it has to be the same style.
  20. Lift it!!! And don't beat the piss out of it, wheel it and keep in mind you want it to last a while. As long as you take your time when on the trails, you can make it last.
  21. Very nice looking Brats! I like the top one, very clean. Yes people have done the conversion before. I'm not sure if anyone on here has done an STI swap into an older car but plenty have done EJ swaps which is the same style motor. So I'm sure you can get a lot of questions answered. Welcome to USMB
  22. Great ideas guys! I would love to see something that could be used on the road as well. Unfortunately out here, unless you travel out of state, there really isn't a lot of since having a rig that is trailered. You really have to have something you can drive on road to go to the trail. So that's what I'd like to see. And obviously it will have to be a little more involved but who knows, maybe just get a little more precise, and go off of what Brain is talking about. Anyways great thoughts and keep 'em coming!!
