  1. I started with a 2" lift in the front of my Brat and the torsion bar cranked up in the rear and I could fit 26" tires. Does that help?
  2. The EA82 uses struts, not shocks. If you disabled the torsion bar suspension, you could put in the EA82 rear strut/spring assembly, but with the stock suspension, you can only put another shock on it.
  3. Yeah I agree that getting stuck might have been handled better, but, that wasn't what posting the video was about, that's all. But all things aside, Nice Brat and it will be fixed in no time!!
  4. So Brian, it sounds like you are leaning towards doing something like this. If you do, please post pics and build specifics! This obviously would solve so many problems!
  5. I'm glad someone asked this question! I have never had a decent wiper. They always streak or just don't work right. So I'm hoping there is a unanimous vote towards a specific kind!
  6. Well unless you have Pug rims, older subarus(Gen 2) have a very narrow track width. I would specifically use them if I ever do a mod I've wanted to do. Which is to run Loyale control arms etc. on the front. Then the rear would look really narrow so having some spacers would even it back out. I dunno, maybe I'm alone on this but I thought I heard others talking about it a while back
  7. Very nice! So obviously these would work on other 4 lug subys as well. Is there a chance you can produce a bunch of these? I'm sure that you'd have some takers! Looks very good though and I can't wait to see them on the car
  8. without any trimming, you would be able ti fit some where around a 26" tire. But definitely could fit bigger with a BFH
  9. He means you are kind of new here to be saying things like that to people that have been here for years. Just try not to be so insulting, he was just sharing his experience, not looking for criticism.
  10. yeah know I have had these thoughts before. I think that as long as you could make sure everything was welded straight and true, that it would work great! I think it's definitely something that should be looked into and maybe tried by someone with the tools and know how!
  11. yeah I know in my area as long as it runs and the body is ok than it would be worth at least 1000. Definitely depends on how plentiful they are in your area
  12. You would have to either pull the motor or the tranny, whatever is easiest for you, and then replace the bearing. and inspect the clutch, because if it's bad at all you might as well replace it while you're in there. That sounds like the problem to me. My Brat used to do it before I changed it out and I've had other cars do it as well. Pretty cheap fix just a little involved.
  13. Sounds like the pilot bearing or the throw out bearing. Probably the throw out bearing.
  14. Thanks Dave! I'll PM you with my email addy. And I'll take a look at the website you posted as well. Thanks I appreciate it!
  15. What do you guys use for manuals when tearing into a motor? I eventually want to do the head gaskets on my 2000 RS with the SOHC 2.5. And I could probably do it and have done others without a manual, but I want it there just in case. I will be at my friends house so coming in the house and asking you guys won't work. So what manuals would you recommend? Thanks!
  16. yeah sometimes things get really frustrating and I can understand especially since that's the last thing! But just keep your cool. cause it definitely doesn't help to get po'd! You'll get it, and feel free to come back on here and ask any questions you might have!! Good luck!
  17. ok cool, and that's one of the reasons you're gonna get rid of the cat. Thanks for the explanation! Awesome project!! Good luck with the wheel bearing!
  18. keep trying! That's about it. I have heard several people on here before saying the same thing, and the only thing you can really do is keep trying. Take a break and go back to it later. Good luck! Maybe someone else will chime in with a better idea:-\
  19. It takes a lot of finagling. You have to keep steady pressure on it and twist back and forth at the same time. But don't force it or you'll need to replace parts!
  20. So does that mean that the stock EJ y-pipe will bolt up with no mods? Or do you have to do anything to it to get by the front crossmember? Sorry, these are probably stupid questions but I was just curious.
  21. I say drive it till the motor goes and then ej swap it. You can make it look pretty stock even with an EJ in there. and it's not all about driving fast, its about driveability as well. It would be a really nice going car with an EJ22 under the hood. But hey it's your car and whatever you choose to do is cool! Very nice, take care of it and keep it from rusting!
  22. Looks great, I remember when I got mine, I was so happy! Yours' is in much better shape than mine though. Mine went of the side of a bridge when it was installed on the previous owners Brat. It's still in great shape but the mounting plates are a little off. I agree, you definitely need some bedliner though. It would make your already really nice Brat even cleaner!
