  1. It needs to be screwed in. Use a pair of needle nose pliers, or you may find a universal tool at the parts store. Just apply slight pressure and turn it clockwise.
  2. Yeah just get whatever ej transmission you want, and use an adapter Plate to attach it to your engine. You can get an adapter from a few different people on here. Check out the vendors for sale section.
  3. Yes they'll bolt on no problem. But if you go from phase 1 to phase 2, then you'll need the intake manifold to match the heads. Not sure on the power. I'm sure it would be barely noticeable if at all.
  4. They're definitely a different bolt pattern. You could probably use an EA-EJ adapter plate like is done with the ej swap though.
  5. Those are subaru 13" alloys. The brat is a 79 sitting on full ea81 suspension, with lift built in. Also with ea81 and 4 spd dual range. Needs some finishing, and a little fabricating, but it's VERY solid. Hopefully it'll be mine.
  6. My 1/2" Milwaukee takes off axles nuts like nothing. And pretty much anything else too. It has 475 lb ft of torque, and they now make one, the same size but different design, that has 1100 lb ft.
  7. Weird. I wonder when that actually changed. My 90 Loyale has those, except for the hi lo lights. And even my 92 had the other gauges as well.
  8. Still a decent chance it's the rebuilt axle he installed. They are commonly bad right out of the box.
  9. I love the single port UEL header from you, even though the car still isn't finished. The only thing I'd change, is having the front pipe that wraps around the front, bend up more, so it doesn't hang down as low.
  10. There's a lot of topics on doing a 5spd swap into an ea81 on here. Do some searching and you should find what you need.
  11. I had this problem once after I installed an aftermarket radio. I shorted something when I did it, and it blew a fuse. The tail lights and dash lights are on the same fuse.
  12. It's common on the ea81's to lift the front more than the rear due to the rake they have. I had a 2" front lift on my brat with just the torsion bar cranked in the rear. It sat nice with that.
  13. There are plenty of places that get bad weather and cold temps that don't use salt or calcium chloride. They can use sand, and I know of areas over seas that use pea gravel. And they often sweep a good amount of it up after the winter and re use it. Yes, these can cause rock dings in the paint, and sand blasting, but that's far less damage than the others cause. And on top of that, it often is cold enough, that these products melt the ice, or keep it from freezing for a certain amount of time, and then because of the melted water, and cold temps, it actually freezes and makes it worse than it would have been initially.
  14. It's the same here in Maine. Salt and calcium chloride kills cars quickly. And anything else it comes in contact with.
  15. You can get knock sensors for much cheaper on ebay, and they work just fine and last as well. I've used several with no issues. And a few for as cheap as $12.
  16. Nope, still not running right. I haven't had the time or ability to work on it for a while now. Hopefully when the weather warms up and the days get longer again.
