  1. I finally finished my twin stick mod. I've been picking away at it for a while now. I made a new shifter with a piece of 3/8 steel rod. I welded the rod onto a large metal bushing. Then I welded a washer on to the steel rod just above the metal bushing. I used another piece of rod for the linkage. I measured and cut the steel rod and welded bolts onto each end. I used the same rod ends that are on the stock Hi/Lo linkage. I attached it onto the tranny end and then I attached the other end to the washer that I welded onto the new shifter. I then drilled a hole through the passenger side of the transmission tunnel and put a bolt through to hold the new shifter in place. It works great and looks damn close to stock except for the added shifter off to the side! The last pic shows it in Hi range, the rest show it in Lo range....So what do you think? How does it look?! Oh yeah and you don't see the spot where I cut the sheet metal on one side....the trim covers it up
  2. :lol:Yeah I used to that with my '97 impreza, It would just burn and burn and burn! wears the tires out really fast so I kept it AWD most of the time.
  3. Do you by chance have any pics of where to put the coil on the drivers side? Thanks!
  4. Yeah that's what I have but like I said because of my setup I don't know what to order them for.
  5. Yeah I am willing to work on a nasty greasy Subaru all day but I hate it when I have to work on something that involves gas! I just hate getting it all over me! And it seems like even when you're careful it still finds a way to get everywhere!
  6. they should! Nice car! Looks pretty clean. Do you have any other plans for it?
  7. That might be a possibility...how much??
  8. Yeah I could probably move it a little. That would help. So magnecor.... I didn't know they made them for old school cars.
  9. I'd have to have a few old school subys, some lifted, some not and then a couple really pissed off street cars and then a couple lifted newer gen. cars, and then a couple rally cars. Thats just my subaru wish list!! Oh yeah and all these from out west so that they have no rust!
  10. I dunno do they? And if so what brand are they?? I don't want a cheazy set meant for an american car.
  11. I want to get a decent set of plug wires for my Brat but I'm not sure what to get. I have the SPFI conversion and also have 3-4" of lift. The ones I have are working ok but I don't know what they were actually bought for. And the coil wire is a little short do to the lift. So what would I be looking for....What brand and what model car do I order them for? Thanks!
  12. So did you have some lug nuts with you or what did you do?
  13. I'm pretty sure that's a pic of the motor in his Subaru Justy
  14. Well at least you and everyone else is ok! Yeah when I first got my pugs on my Brat I didn't have enough pug lugs, but I was so anxious to get them on with my bigger tires, so I put 'em on and almost had the same happen to me! I was going slow through town and noticed the wobble. But I did still lose a lug nut! I was lucky! Oh yeah it's funny....It's snowing here in Maine too!
  15. The difference in traction is probably just a difference in weight and tires between the two vehicles. Unless your forester also has an LSD in the rear.
  16. just check the plugs from one to the other. If they are the same then yes it should work.
  17. Yes he could use a switch it wouldn't hurt a thing but you're right the fuel economy doesn't change at all! The all wheel drive system works so that as long as you are cruising down the road the rear transfer clutches are actually disengaged. So most of the time you are in front wheel drive anyway. The system kicks in when the front wheels spin or when you stomp on it but rolling along it's in two wheel drive. But yes it can be done. Hope this helps!
  18. good luck!! It should be doable with the heads off and everything. I to have pulled one by myself but it can hurt a little!
  19. yeah exactly, you would think since the point of the article is to talk about the cars they find than they would do better research on the cars they see. Then they could show people all the facts about them, but oh well, at least we all know better!
  20. Actually now that you mention it I had a Loyale that did the same thing. Idle forever without getting hot but as soon as it was driven or revved higher than idle it would start to heat up. It was head gaskets! So hopefully it's not, for your sake but it would be worth looking into!
  21. You can tell most of the people who did reply don't have a clue about a Brat. It's too bad!:-\
  22. Yeah it's been either real cold or warm here. Yesterday it was 56! Then today was below freezing all day. We are getting around 6" of snow tomorrow though and then more on Friday and then more on Sunday! That means I get to plow with my wheeler!!!
