Don't ya just love the North east! -
Thats a good question? I had my old Ea82 wagon almost completey on its side...it was the passenger side..but it was way over and it didn't tip! That and I recently parted an EA82 out and when I pulled the tranny I pulled the car over with a tractor and again it was at an insane angle and it didn't tip over..We just used the tractor to hold it up.

I second that! It could have been fixed! And I put more faith in people on this forum than I would in japanese people over the phone who work at subaru!!! Or most people who work at a dealership!!! The difference is experience! People on here have pretty much gone through anything you can go through on a subaru!

ken block test driving (when hes blind)

So you just had a cherry bomb in place of the muffler? I love the sound..it sounds like a subaru. My brat doesn't really have the "boxer rumble" I would love to have it sound like that! -

The video is a little dark but.....that Brat does sound awesome!!! What exactly do you currently have under the hood, exhaust etc. ? -
Well the sad thing is that you can have this trouble with any brand car at any given time and any given dealer! Too bad you let your bad luck with the one subaru you had lead you to never own another! There must be reason there is this huge forum and several other subaru forums.......maybe cause subarus are awesome, and the majority of them are excellent and most of them are pretty bulletproof!!! Sorry you had a bad experience!:-\

Yeah when I first started working on subarus I was told by a subaru tech that those belts should be "Hummin' tight!"
-
I had to shim the lower holes on the shocks so that the bolt would not be loose when bolting it in the stock location and on the top I had drill out the holes to get the bolts through! But not too bad pretty easy install! And I only paid $20 for mine!!!

yup never heard of or seen a suby with a frame!

Does MWE make axles for the EA81's? If so how much and is there any warranty on them?

oiling the underbody of a car
bratman18 replied to bheinen74's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes its in a can and actually if you take the nozzle and little red tube off the top of a WD-40 can and put it on the top of the chain and cable lube than you have an even more precise way of applying it...especially on the seams and in any holes! My uncle just always used, used motor oil and put it in a garden sprayer and sprayed the bottom of his vehicles with it. I guess that used motor oil was already thin enough! -
This is basically what I did except I cut the lower radiator support out as well and then used a narrow piece of channel in its place! Much stronger!

Mine doesn't anymore!! But even when it did it wasn't enough, it still rusted! -
365 Subarus (2010) [dates added]

I'd probably be up to get one too! I'd want my Brat on Oct. 16th (my b-day) -
And yes it takes a little to get in and out of the bearings. Just thread the axle nut back on until flush with end of axle and hit with hammer until you can slowly work it out!

Yeah I don't understand it, I'd much rather just have sand on the roads! The MDOT is pretty much saying that there is no negative effects of the use of calcium chloride! I see the same effects here with the concrete just falling apart and the trees on the side of the road turning brown and dieing! But iof you oil your cars and wash often in the winter it helps a lot! And I highly suggest that with you ettev because of all the recent work you did on your Brat! Make sure you get in all the crackas and holes form the top and bottom!! And wash after every storm! -

Yeah Maine uses salt and this wonderful:dead:creation called calcium chloride! It rusts everything! I have seen several cars that are newer than 2002 that are just falling apart! Yes I have used ospho before and it seems to work well, but when you start with a car that has rust, and without completely tearing the car into pieces, you can't get to all the rust than it still doesn't help! The only way that I have found in this circumstance is to use oil. But like I said I primarily use chain and cable lube because of the way it soaks in and spreads! My dream is to get a rust free subaru from out west so that I can start a little more "fresh." I could care less about the running gear I just want a shell!!!! I'm sure that ospho would work well in the way you said if you were starting with something that wasn't too rusty to start with! -

Right yeah I know what your saying, but Jeez we are talking about old subarus here I personally will do a lot to keep mine from rusting away! I would hope that others out there would be willing to do some "maintenance" But anyways yeah my undercoating is falling off as well and a lot of has been torn off from dragging its belly through the trails! -

The oil doesn't wear off fast at all! I only apply twice a year and there is still lots of evidence that oil was applied! Like I said before..it soaks into the metal and spreads! But you have to do like I said and put into all holes and cracks and what not! -

I did this swap as well and changed the whole dash board and harness as well and I also stole the manual seat belts out of the donor car as well!
