  1. I'm definitely not opposed to doing that. I unfortunately don't have access to tools or a place to work on it at the moment. It's been very cold here for quite a while now, and now, after having the flu for a week, there's about 6" of snow on the car. I still need to install the harness that Gloyale sent me as well. I'm not sure what could be wrong with the motor. It ran perfect before we took it out of the legacy. All we did was reseal it and put new timing components on it. And the timing is set right and has been checked 10 times. I really wish one of you guys was closer.
  2. This lovely mess. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/146409-couple-issues-with-ej-swap/
  3. The headers won't bother much, as long as the down pipe is stock. But those newer turbo cars really should. Have a tune with an intake installed.
  4. Make a road trip to Maine and help me get mine sorted!
  5. If I remember correctly, when you lift the ea81 cars, you have to do some massaging of that area to clear the spring perch. I guess maybe it's the same when doing this? Mine was lifted so I had already clearanced mine.
  6. No need to replace the head bolts. But yes, either subaru oem head ggaskets, or six star.
  7. Make sure it's out of another forester, and not an impreza. The center bearing mounts are at different heights between the 2.
  8. That's essentially his plan, and why he is building the spare 22t motor. It'll be getting dohc heads, and upgraded turbo etc.
  9. The ones I used were monroes as well. Once they're in, just clamp them back down. I had mine apart many times, with no issues.
  10. Be sure to check the rest of the motor. It's very common on those, when the turbo fails, it involves the bearings in the motor as well. A common swap, is the vf52 turbo, but make sure you have it tuned.
  11. I had a blue 85 go wagon like that once that had the carpeted interior in the back just like that. Pretty sure it was an option or something. Maybe something that dealers had done. The one I had was bought new by my grandmother, and then given to me, and I know she didn't have it done.
  12. Yeah they do fit. As Brian said, it just needs to be pried apart.
  13. 2" lift, 225 60 17 Hankook snows. SG rear struts with SF springs. 215 70 16 Grabbers for the rest of the year.
  14. I've hear that machine shops can get them out. Probably by drilling. Not sure. But I have heard of it.
  15. I actually have a 2.2 block on my porch that did that. Just on head bolt broke. But luckily it already has spun bearings.
  16. Is it something that I need to worry about? Or can I just deal with it? I'm fine with dealing with it as long as it's not going to fail all together.
  17. Any instructions on how to do that? I do have to add, that even when I start out easy, it'll take off fine, and as soon as it goes to shift into 2nd, it acts like it's in neutral.
  18. It pretty much only does these things when it's cold, but I've never had one do this before. It will take off, and then when it goes to shift, it will actually act like it's in neutral. If you keep your foot on the gas, it'll sometimes slowly slip back into gear, and other times it'll bang into gear. It also sometimes seems like it starts out in 2wd, and the front tires will spin when you're leaving an intersection, and then the rear wheels often engage hard. It has no torque bind at all, and shifts great otherwise. Just curious what everyone's thoughts were.
  19. If you're referring to the older 4 lug subarus, the only subaru and Peugeot share that lug pattern.
  20. When I did mine, I'm almost positive I used the one front hole and drilled 2 new ones towards the rear. I know it worked out great, but I'm sure the opposite will work as well.
