Brat keeps stalling after adding motor oil
bratman18 replied to spideyz's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I very much doubt that the oil had anything to do with your problem I have run my subarus with little oil before with out any problems! Its weird a subaru with an oil leak! But yeah I would go with the vac line or something, not the oil! -
No prob!

$135 for the ea81 and $145 for the ea82 just looked!
-
I have lifted all of my subarus past and present the same way that sjr does and never had any serious camber issues or much tire wear so I never really saw the need to alter the strut block:-\

I know that visually the joints are much bigger looking as well, so good luck!

I and many of my friends have used the new ones from NAPA and I haven't seen any fail yet so hopefully its the same for you!!! I just wish they would make new ones for my brat!

oh you so funny! Send a few my way!

No prob and good decision!

Yeah sounds like parts to me! Too rusty, its hard to patch gthe frame rails so that they will last! But it is an ea82 car. I would put the tranny in your loyale but if you can get the whole car thats the way to go, that way you have any and all parts you would need when putting the d/r in your car. It isn't worth that much in that condition I paid 175 for a similar car but make an offer and see what he says.

Nothin too it just add a little bondo:lol:
-
I second that as well!
-
yup I second that
-
what kind of shape is it in? If its in good shape then go with the 86 and if it has the same type of motor as your loyale than it is still an ea82 but if its a different body style its an ea81. Oh and if its an ea81 its a 4 spd tranny but you can....with a little work swap in a 5 spd...if it is an ea81!

my front frame rails are in good shape but when i did my front bumper i used angle to stiffen the frame rails and give added strength so i say do what you said! It should work well:)
-
You can drive it if the rear is welded, yeah you will notice a difference but it is still driveable and its very common to do on a subaru that you do plan on wheeling with
-
I spoke with john about the phantom grip in the front diff and he did say its not as easy as just putting it in, some mods need to be done but once completed it works great but I would recommend having a great deal of knowledge about the tranny before tearing into it!!

I think what he is trying to say is that with big tires the lsd will slip it is after all a LIMITED slip differential so with a a lot of force, like big tires will give, it might slip more than actually work. So welded might be the way to go if you plan on wheeling it a :)lot!
