The Unofficial "How to Lift your Impreza" Thread

Yeah the rear sway bar is just so small that I noticed no difference at all with it removed. And it's just one less part to fail. But that's all you're preference. -

You wouldn't have to buy the mammoth kit, but that's an option. I have no clue what that stuff on autoparts warehouse is. It's nothing that'll fit a forester though. No place like that is going to sell parts for subaru lifts. Looks like everything you want in those links. I'm not sure on the endlinks. I always remove my rear sway bar and just leave the front as is. Never had any issues. And I'm not sure where you might find them cheaper. There are so many sites out there. -

Yeah those springs would be fine. Front and rear are different though. Right, you'd have little issue with cv angle if you just used forester struts with oem forester springs. And the tires have no influence on cv angle. Dropping the crossmembers means dropping g the front engine cradle and the rear diff cradle down using lift blocks. There are a few other things to do as well. And there are people that make lift kits for doing this as well. -

I wouldn't put impreza springs on outback or forester struts. They're shorter and will put the struts into a different range of motion than they're meant for. So yeah, if use forester struts, with king springs, it'll be at least 3.5" of lift, which is pushing for the cv angles. So you could either get regular springs, or start dropping the crossmembers. -

They are specific for each none of the vehicle. The springs I have are not new, and I'm not sure where you'd buy new other than the dealer. The only new springs I've bought are King springs. Other than that, used springs are fine. -

Looks like those are the right parts according to the diagrams. Used is just fine too, if you are able to find some. KYB is a good brand for sure, not sure on springs. Oem is fine. I have a set of 05 forester xt springs if you're interested. They're actually full strut assemblies but the struts are tired. -

Yes the outback was part of the Legacy line. Even now, while they're listed separately, they're still the same body design. Camber bolts can be ordered for either. As long as they're for the rear. Front ones won't fit. I always bought them from NAPA. You have all struts on yours, no shocks. So you'd be buying 2 front struts and 2 rear struts, and then use the springs to match the struts. The dust boots can be reused if they're in good shape or buy new ones. As far as where to purchase, there are many places. Amazon has some good deals at times. -
Interested, depending on price.

I had forester struts on my 02 outback sport. Same car as yours. I didn't use the trailing arm brackets on mine and you couldn't tell the difference. You could easily run a 215 60 16, or 215 65 16 without issue. The 226 60 16 is stock size for a 2000-20004 outback, and the 215 60 16 is stock for 03-08 foresters. -
Nice. Thought about making it 4wd from your old one? DeLorean?

Just want to say, I have 2 sets of front strut lifts, and another full lift on the way for my new Forester. Patrick is great to deal with, always helpful, great quality products, and still cheaper than others. I was also impressed with how in spec the camber was. It's always nice to have someone that obviously cares about customers and is willing to help as well.

Forester struts and springs won't gain you much, if any. Yeah you can use blocks, and you can usually go 2" over stock on the axles. -
I'm not sure about that one. I've beaten on many ea82 cars. 100's of clutch drops, and even ran one in rwd with a blown front axle for some times. Lots of roll backs were done. Never bent one. But I bent the one in my brat all the time. I'd take it out and straighten it from time to time. Then replaced it a few times as well. Still bent them like nothing.

I've seen the ea81 ones twist and bend, but never an ea82.
