Jessekrs123's 1984 Subaru BRAT
bratman18 replied to Jessekrs123's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My Brat was far worse than that. It does not take much money at all to fix it, as long as you do it yourself. Just take your time and cut out all the rust, and replace with good sheet metal!! -
Great to hear you're getting it up and running and on the road again!!! Can't wait to see pics of it all assembled!!! Awesome work Connie!
-
The pics are all still there and it looks awesome. I want another OBS bad
-
This thing already is crazy! You should see other action pics of when he was out in Utah!! He beat the snot out of it and it took it great, and he still made the return trip back to Maine.
-
Yeah he is using his stock struts on that. But you are right, the Forester struts would allow for more travel and bigger tires. I can't remember what size tires he is running on it though.
-
That car belongs to someone I know near me in Maine. He just used 1" spacers on the strut tops from Dirty Impreza. Works great. I has put a ton of miles on it, including a TON in Utah out on the mud.

Looking good!! Thats crazy they caused that damage!! Car looks great though!!

EA 81 / 82 Motor Mounts?
bratman18 replied to Sonicfrog's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You will see if you try to bolt them onto the motor how they don't quite bolt on, and then you can tell where the need to be cut, and modified -
EA 81 / 82 Motor Mounts?
bratman18 replied to Sonicfrog's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I had to use EA82 mounts on my EA81. They aren't the same, but if you cut and re weld them the work. I can't remember the exact spot they need to be cut but I know it is possible, and it does work great -
You should check on shipping to Maine. That would be sweet

Ok a few more u18x8.5 Rota Grids for summer wheels and an Importology front lip along with a few small odds and ends. The biggest new thing is an 04 STi 6 speed tranny with a Kartboy short shifter that will be going in soon!! I will be using an Impreza auto driveshaft and Legacy turbo rear diff so I can keep my hubs with the 4 pot 2 pot brakes. And I will be using a DCCDPro to control the DCCD. I can't wait to get it in!!

Finally...My Desert Runner is Ready
bratman18 replied to gokoolab's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Looks great!! If you haven't already, I would highly suggest swapping in a dual range 5 spd tranny!! -
No adapter needed, they bolt right together
-
Yeah my wheel came off a Gen 1 1981 Brat, and it went right on mine. That electronic stuff looks scary!! Good luck with it!!!!
-
Looks good!! I have the same steering wheel in my Brat. Why was the adapter needed?
-
Good start!! You may want to do something about the rear wheel wells as well. Looks like in one pic they are getting rusty. But good to see you're tackling it to keep it alive longer!!!! I'm going to have to do more to my BRAT this year and I'm dreading it!! Oh yeah, and get a dual range!! Haha

Nice progress!! I can't wait to see when it's finished. Did you ever find front coil overs?
