^Actually the Brat has the same wheelbase as the wagon. I have a 5 spd swapped into my Brat and I just used the driveshaft that came with the 5 spd tranny. Perfect fitment.
-
Yeah the 4 spd tranny crossmember and driveshaft and the 5 spd one are completely different. But the 5 spd is a much better tranny!!
-
The tranny will bolt right up to the motor. You can't just change the bell housing anyway. You will need to modify/make a crossmember. And the linkage can be modified to work. You will also need a 5 spd drive shaft, which means you'll need to weld on center bearing mounts. This swap has been done may times, and there are write ups on it.

I modified EA82 mounts to fit my EA81 -
They work great for the newer ones that they are made for!! I have been running the Jackson Rally version for a while on my 2000 OBS with no issues

If it is the right bearing, you will need 2 of them

I agree, if you don't do crazy ************ and expect it to be a drag car, they will last a very long time!! I know a few with well over 200k with the stock tranny and stage 2 -

The 02-05's were the "glass tranny" but then they upgraded to the Forester XT type tranny in 06 which are much stronger!! -
Wow, now that is interesting!! Must be a little noisy indie the car!!

I'm sure it's possible with work, but not a direct swap

That looks awesome!! Great work. Man that thing will be low!!! The wheel is pretty tucked already and thats without weight on it!! -
Swampers don't usually do all that well in the snow. They do fine off road in the snow, but not very good on the slippery roads

Are the lift blocks camber corrected? The top of the strut should tilt in to correct this problem
-
jacksonrally makes these kind of kits, and they work very well

Very nice!! Have you gotten your STi yet?

It's junk, you should sell the car for 200 bucks to me:grin:

When I put an EA81 into my EA82 with 5 spd dual range I used all the EA82 clutch stuff, and it all worked great
