Wells sorry:-\ I thought cutting springs was bad and I have never re clocked a torsion bar. And also if you read the post above, he did not cut the springs, he used Honda springs. Pardon me and my ignorance

Thanks a lot guys!!! I went down to her work and replaced the fuse that was labeled chime, and it started right up. It looks like a bad connection on the fuse. As usual, I love this place!!

My wifes car. It has always been great and extremely reliable until recently. When you open the door or try to start it, some sort of alarm goes off, and makes the horn beep and it won't start. She had to work this morning at 6 am and when she got out, it did this, now it's parked at her work:-\ So any ideas? This happened last week as well and she simply got a jump and it started right up. Why would this be? The battery is good and tested. and everything has power to it, it just won't even turn over when you turn the key. Unfortunately my wife is not comfortable driving a standard so this is the only car she can drive, and I work all week, so she is stuck without a car with our 14 month old daughter. This sucks!!! Thanks for any ideas

Looks good, so how'd you do it?

Removing the steering wheel

Sounds good to me and with great reasoning!! Thanks Rob! -
Removing the steering wheel

No she goes straight down the road even when I let go of the wheel, and the tires wear good even with the 2" strut lift. So I'm sure that's all good. I'm pretty sure the PO had something apart at some point and he never was very good at paying attention to detail -
Removing the steering wheel

Ok cool. Thanks!! The only real reason I wanted to take mine off is because mine is crooked as all hell. It has been since I've owned it and I just wanted to take it off turn it and put it back on. I just didn't want to beat on it and break it so I couldn't put it back on -
Removing Struts EA82 (How)

I was able to get a 2" block in without removing the entire strut, but things are different between vehicles:rolleyes: -
Removing the steering wheel

So if I just hammer on the wheel from the back side it should come off? Sounds like a PITA!! So are they interchangeable between EA81 and EA82? -
Ok, so I can just remove the big nut and pull the steering wheel off of my Brat, but on my EA82 GL I take the big nut off and can not get the thing to move. Is there something different between the two? And, does an EA81 fit on an EA82 car? It looks like it but I wasn't sure.

You will have to remove your sway bar links if you haven't already. -
I think we would all love to see pics!!!

Nice!!! Are the lenses Subaru?

Has anyone ever modified a push bar from an EA81 car to fit onto an EA82 car? I have one and would love to put it on my 89 GL. I just wanted to know if anyone knew what needed to be done or if it would even fit? Thanks

I've always bought NAPA and had great results!! Always got the right parts and always lasted a long time and work great, but it helps that it is a locally owned business where they time extra time and effort to make sure you get the right parts, That's the only aftermarket automotive store I will go to.

It's all yours, I decided against it, thanks for holding it for me bob97c5!!

Sorry I didn't reply to your message. This should be in the offroad section and there are many answers to this question in that section. But yes, you can make blocks to do your own home made lift. It takes some cutting and maybe even some welding. But I did mine in the driveway with simple tools. Also, if you plan on putting bigger tires on the car as well, you might want to put a dual range tranny in as well. I believe since you have a DL that you only have a single range tranny.

Awesome!! Great job with the paint. You must love the EJ with the big tires compared to your other car. I really, really, really want to put an EJ22 in my 89 GL!!! I just need to get a parts car and then have someone do the wiring for me!! Great job and I'd love to see some pics/video of that thing in action!!

Yeah I love the sedan!! I wanted one for a long time. I do wish it had more room, but that's ok, it looks awesome!! And yeah, the only issue was a blown head light bulb, so I can't complain!!! And NAPA was open late so I just swung in and got one. Mykingcrab, I want your roof rack!! Where did you get it?

So, Thursday and Friday my wife and I along with a bunch of friends, went to Northern Maine. We traveled about 3 1/2 hours north from our place to a little town called Jackman. We camped out in tents and got very wet!! We had some very impressive thunder storms, some of the biggest I've seen in a long time. Unfortunately we all got very wet and so did our bedding and clothes. There was some good points though! I was the only one with a Subaru, and I took my 89 GL. I did a little off roading but not a lot, and unfortunately I didn't get any pics of that. We did a fair amount of fishing and caught a lot of Brook Trout and I caught a couple Salmon as well, all on a fly rod. We also saw a few Moose. Here are some pics!! This is one of the campsite, with some friends. It was nice to have help watching our daughter!! We did a lot of driving in very remote areas, so I decided I better bring a gas can This one is at a boat landing on Moosehead Lake This one is at a rest area look out on route 201, very nice view!! You can see the fishing gear strapped to the racks:grin: Over all the trip was good, but we did head home a little early do to being wet, and having my 13 month old daughter with us. We put over 500 miles on, and the car did very good!! I would love to have an EJ22 for the hills, but the EA81 did just fine most of the time. The only problems were a blown headlight bulb, and I have to replace a front hub.

What a monster!!! So how does it go?
-
It's kind of on the crossmember part. Mine does not rub at all, and I have a home made 2" lift. To the OP, yes, that is just to reduce the angle on the axles, I only have my struts dropped 2" and have put many miles and there are no issues so far!! Make sure we get pics of the project!!

You can very easily make a lift your self. You just need some material and a few simple tools.
