SPFI conversion question
bratman18 replied to bratman18's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ok, so if I just swap the gears between the two I should be ok? Alrighty, I guess I will add that to the list of things to do today! Thanks -
Is it absolutely necessary to do work to the distributor to get it to work on the EA81 with SPFI? I cut off the mounting tab on one side of the EA82 disty and it seems to slide down in where it's supposed to be just fine. Am I missing something?

So I have spent the last several hours slowly putting the EA81 into my EA82 car. I'm not done yet, I just got home and it's 11:30pm!! I'm tired. But this does bolt on with the fuel injection intake manifold. Most of my time has been trying to figure out all the little details about bolting the manifold onto an EA81 motor!! Like changing the IAC around etc. So I will be back at it tomorrow, and will post pics of it installed.

I vote again for adjusting the tie rods -
I had 02 WRX springs on my 97 Impreza. They will fit on Legacy struts as well. I got really good handling with them

Yeah I have just straight cut 2" blocks on my struts and have no noticeable wear on my tires and I have put on a few thousand miles so far, so something is off somewhere. Also try towing your tie rods out a touch, that will help, but only do it slightly -
should be able to get one at any parts store, or maybe someone will have a used one they would sell
-
Just find someone to rebuild it. It is a lot cheaper than new and is just as good

Yeah I hear ya there! I would sell mine, but don't want to give up all the custom parts and extras I have, so I guess I will keep it till it rots away and then swap everything into another car -

Sweet! So no lift? I just figured you would because you did on your Brat. But nice wagon anyway. Eventually I will come get me a nice rust free car!! -

Sweet! I have a set on my 89 GL. I paid the same amount. I love how they set out wide. So what are your plans for the wagon anyway? -
They said it would ship the next day after they received the payment, which will probably be the next business day. And I actually had it shipped first class mail, so it will take a few days. But yeah, not bad at all, I thought. I have dealt with the minimum shipping charges before, they suck! And unfortunately sometimes you have no choice because you need the parts!
-
I just ordered the oil pump gasket set from rock auto and the shipping wasn't that bad. But it also doesn't weigh anything. It was about 8 bucks and change with shipping.
-
Sweet thank you. I will be ordering immediately.
-
Got another question for ya! How does Rockauto ship? Do they use USPS or UPS/FedEx? I searched on the site and couldn't find an answer. Thanks

Thanks for the quick response Connie!!

So I was curious where you guys got oil pump seals and gaskets for EA81 and EA82 motors? I have had a hard time finding them and the last time I had to get one from the dealer which was a serious pain. So does anyone know who else has them or sells them or, does anyone have a set they would let go? Thanks in advance. -Jason
