  1. Ummmmmm, I'm glad you have the money to fork over for a rust free car and then the expensive shipping, but many don't!! I had to do some patching on my Brat and it was well worth it, and FREE!! Yeah it took some time but I got to learn a lot about my car and learned a lot about welding sheet metal, with a 220 mig even!! That's a challenge! But yeah, I'd love to get a car from the west coast, but until I have that much money to fork over, than I will continue to do rust repairs like the one above!
  2. No, as long as all the red crap is outta there, it would be better to run green stuff!!
  3. sjrlift.com or ThebeastIdrive
  4. Yeah, those things are notorious for rusting up!! Especially for us in the rust belt. I've had to take an hour per side just to work them loose before! Good luck!!!
  5. Post in the stuff wanted section, someone should be able to help you out
  6. I still say intake gaskets and maybe even head gaskets. The Vortecs were notorious for this, mostly because of that crappy extended life orange coolant they used.
  7. Check out the off road threads. There is one in there that has some info about an easy 2" lift on an EA82. They are very cheap and easy to make. I'm actually currently making one for my car. And up until my Brat, that's all I have ever had on my EA82's and they will go some insane places with that little bit of lift and some decent tires. Check out this thread http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=94629
  8. Cool! Glad you got it. So what was the process you had to go through?
  9. If the one in the junk yard is a 4 spd d/r than it will look a lot different. It will be a lot longer and skinnier looking.
  10. You don't need any extra power out of an EJ22 when it's in an old GL wagon!! It will have plenty of power. You can always do exhaust and intake, those are easy. But the only real power gains would come from a turbo motor which really isn't practical with an off road car of any kind
  11. Well looks good!! No need for higher rev limit for motor, it has no power beyond 6000 rpm's anyway. And as for the 5 lug swap, you'll need XT^ parts which are getting hard to find. Good luck! Sounds like a sweet rig
  12. Very nice REX! Looks like Gabes parts worked out good for you!! He's the man! He has tons of parts!! Can't wait to hear about it when you put the new motor in!!!
  13. You would probably need the drive shaft that went with the 4spd. The tranny itself is a lot longer than the 5 spd. And the lo range isn't as low as the 5 spd
  14. Yeah, looks good except for the rust. Are you gonna weld in some patches? Several people had asked the po to post pics of the rust, and he never did. Now I see why! Nice old suby though!!
  15. My clutch is a little different on my RS as well. Sounds very similar to what yours does. Maybe it's just an RS thing? I dunno:-\
  16. It would with some mod, but are you talking about the 4 spd d/r? If so it's not worth it, the 5 spd is much stronger
  17. Top notch work!!! That's awesome. It's gotta be the only off road WRX. Keep us updated on your projects, they seem to be super exciting!!!! Do you get any rubbing from those tires at all?
  18. Yup, but if he has any problems with CV angle it wouldn't be too hard to correct it.
  19. Yeah, easy fix. Throw a light in there and call it good! If you wanna be fussy, that's pretty thin sheet metal right there, just remover light, and bend back into place. Good luck!!!
  20. yup, you got it!! So if you are dead set on getting the clear lenses, then you need to get amber bulbs.
  21. Yours were changed out to amber lenses to make them legal. In stock app the blinkers are in the bumper, but because you have an aftermarket bumper, someone rewired your corner lights to be blinkers. So they have to stay amber, or get clear lenses and get amber bulbs.
  22. I haven't seen very many with the amber lenses. I haven't had a hard time finding those bulbs, seems like any auto parts store should have them. I have seen them in several colors. I had clear lenses on my Brat, and I think they just had clear bulbs in them.
  23. When I do it, I use the needle nose pliers as well. I don't have the tool for it. So I know how slow it can be!! Just keep at it, you'll get it.
  24. Glad I could help!! It might be that you will need to screw them in all the way to get the new pads to fit, but it really doesn't matter, as long as you can slide the caliper down over the pads your fine. Good luck!!!
