  1. @ 1 Lucky Texan--did you mean to post that info here or in Jenstheman's "2004 Outback" thread?
  2. Congrats Shawn! So where is your new shop located?
  3. "It ran for about 2 min with my foot on the gas. Bad PCV valve? Is it possible i messed up something removing and reattaching the throttle cable?" You might want to double check your throttle cable attachment.
  4. Jens--check P0604 here: http://engine-codes.com/p0604.html If you need a new ECU check into rebuilt/re-programmed units. I put one in a friend's Lexus a while back and it worked perfectly for years--car was still running fine when she sold it.
  5. Stick with Larry's recommendation of 125 ft-lbs. I've even seen it suggested as high as 140 ft-lbs. Sorry heartless, but the consensus is that the FSM is way off on that one!
  6. Nice writeup heartless! Agree--the new sensor probably won't be necessary. Terry in Oz--there's a helpful Endwrench article with pix & diagrams if you haven't seen it already: http://www.northursalia.com/techdocs/pdf/engine/timingbelt.pdf Go to "Timing Belt Replacement" PDF. Good luck, hope you get her home okay!
  7. Thanks 91_EJ_22. You're fast man! Really appreciate the effort--and the confirmation.
  8. Suddenly my hood latch won't hold the hood closed. All the individual parts work okay--the safety catch, the release cable, the arm that the cable pulls to release the spring-loaded catch. I'm thinking It's missing a spring--where the red line is in the photo (if you can see the photo!) Am I right? Thanks in advance.
  9. Hi risonm92, welcome to the USMB. This is the "Legacy-and-newer" forum. Post your problem/questions in the "Old Gen" forum (which includes Loyales) and I'll bet you get some great help! Good luck--and enjoy!
  10. I've lived in Honolulu, Hawaii for nearly 50 years! Do drop by The Sands House sometime--they have a beautiful old bar that seemed to be very well-stocked. And great food (Yorkshire Pudding like Mom used to make!) Here's a Google Maps link: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=The+Sands+House,+Blackmoorfoot+Road,+Crosland+Hill,+Huddersfield,+United+Kingdom&hl=en&ll=53.626623,-1.826303&spn=0.001993,0.001784&sll=53.626605,-1.82689&sspn=0.001409,0.002709&oq=The+Sands+HouseHuddersfield,+United+Kingdom&hq=The+Sands+House,&hnear=Blackmoorfoot+Rd,+United+Kingdom&t=h&z=19 Can't help you with your carb problem--I haven't even seen a carb for 20 years! But if you post your questions in the Old Gen forum I'm sure you'll get tons of help . . . good people these Subie Folk! Best of luck, Mate. Keep in touch.
  11. Welcome to USMB, motomatt. You're gonna' love this place. Of course your car is winning you over--it's a Winner! Great little car and it looks like you found a real jewel. Take good care of that Li'l Red Wagon . . . and enjoy!
  12. You're absolutely right, Frankenru--they are cool! My first two Subarus were '85 wagons. I loved them and still miss them. And they're great cars to polish your "wrenching skills" on. Welcome to USMB. Be good, be responsible and enjoy!
  13. Welcome luisvermillion--in beautiful West Yorkshire, land of my ancestors. My Dad was born in Elland and my Great-Grandmother ran a pub just outside Huddersfield (The Sands House, still going strong today!) Your Brat looks great, best of luck with it.
  14. Welcome aboard, Clippers. You might want to post your questions in the "New Gen--1990 to present" forum--you'll get more response there.
  15. Welcome to USMB, Tyler. Tell us about your Subie. And of course you can ask any technical questions in the appropriate forums.
  16. A very eloquent introduction, Tsuru. And welcome to you. As you well know, you've found a very warm and loving family here. Great bunch of folk to wrench with.
  17. Beginning in 1996 OBD II was mandatory on all cars sold in the US. Subaru, along with some other manufacturers, adopted OBD II a year early, in 1995. I've heard stories that some '95 Subarus didn't have it but I've never seen one personally. You are right, though--the diagnostic plug on the dash is the simplest "proof."
  18. Hoo, boy! That hammer is a collector's item now!!!
  19. Welcome Cymru! Wales is one of my most favorite places--beautiful country! Jump into the "Newer Generation" forums and ask questions, that's where you'll find the technical talk. Ane welcome to USMB, Mike. Enjoy!
  20. Go to Mike Scarff Subaru right there in Auburn and talk to Jason, the Parts Manager. Tell him you're on USMB. Nice guy, super helpful and always had the best prices I could find!
  21. Welcome to USMB. Cars look great. Countryside looks gorgeous. And don't apologize for your English--you're communicating just fine!!!
