  1. Welcome aboard Legourde_Nux, glad to have you here! Good luck with the Brat. Ask lotsa' questions and keep us posted on your progress.
  2. Gidday Mate, and welcome aboard USMB! Good looking fleet you've got going there. And from the photo captions it looks like you enjoy driving them too--good on ya'!
  3. Yes, the hash mark for alignment is on the front face of the cam pulley. You'll need to get a new (used) pulley. IIRC it is keyed so it will only go on in the proper position--then you can line it up by the hashmark. I think any left side pulley from '90 through '95 will work (but someone correct me if I'm wrong!) Now for the big question: How the heck did the face of the pulley get sheared off?!!
  4. Before you do anything research the process--read--study. TDC is irrelevant. Use hash marks for alignment, NOT arrows. Here are a couple of links that will help you: http://www.northursalia.com/techdocs/pdf/engine/timingbelt.pdf http://beergarage.com/SubyTBelt.aspx At 185k you should "overhaul" the entire front end--it's quite easy while you have it opened up. Replace the water pump and thermostat. Reseal the oil pump. Replace cam & crank seals. Replace all the idlers. There are very reasonably priced complete kits available from "The Import Experts" and "Mizumoauto." Good luck--and by all means ask any specific questions here at USMB. Welcome aboard!
  5. Buyer's anxiety? Shoot, it looks like you got a real beauty there! And welcome aboard--you'll love this place.
  6. If you don't feel like rebooting your own, consider getting genuine rebuilt Subaru axles from MWE in Denver, CO. (You can Google them.) We have them on two Subies in the family and they're excellent quality.
  7. FYI, they are separate, mounted side by side (IIRC.) Try a search on here for ECTS (Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor)--you'll find good info and even pictures.
  8. Welcome aboard Glen. You found a good place here--good folk who know and love their favorite car and are happy to share. Congrats on your li'l wagon, sounds good!
  9. A little late but maybe this will help someone else down the road. My axles were stuck solid. Hammering didn't work, puller didn't either. So I fabbed a plastic cup to flood the splines with penetrating oil! Cut a short (about 1") piece of 1.5" diameter PVC drain and JB Welded a plastic jar lid to it. Made a small hole in the center of the lid (but did a sloppy job of it so I JB'd another piece on with a neat, pre-formed hole!) Used household silicone caulk/sealant to mount it to the hub face so it surrounded the outer end of the axle. Poured in a pool of Liquid Wrench (still my favorite!) hoping it would wick into the splines, turned the hub about 60-degrees every half-hour or so. Guess it worked--next morning the puller slid the axle out! Here's what it looked like:
  10. You got it! (I have a hunch it's all the people who keep getting on the forum! )
  11. Just be aware that a '97 EJ22 is an "interference engine"--if that's any concern to you. Good luck!
  12. You're certainly welcome. This is a great site and we all want to make sure it works as well as possible. And thank you for "refining" your location!
  13. OKAY, TRY AGAIN! Our site guru, shadow, has fixed the problem. Yay!
  14. Wow! That's frustrating. I just submitted a question in the Site Help and Suggestions section--maybe we'll get an answer.
  15. Welcome aboard Jack--you're gonna' love this place. And congrats to both of you gentlemen, the '92 is a vintage year? My son has one up in Seattle and I absolutely love that car.
  16. Me too! So I poked around and think I've got it figured out: Top-right where it says "Welcome, ebarb" Click on your name and you'll get your Member Profile. Left side, click on the "About me" tab--you should be able to revise your location. Good luck!
  17. Welcome aboard ebarb! A friendly request--add your state (the "MO" abbreviation is fine) after your town in your ID. Saves readers a lot of confusion down the road!
  18. Very impressive! So what is that speedo mounted in?
  19. Welcome aboard Oldmics. Sounds like you found a real jewel there--a clean low milage '90! Show us some pix when you can. Great bunch of folks here--they'll offer all the help you need! Just ask questions in the Older Gen Forum. Aloha, Olnick
  20. Welcome aboard Hooligan--you found a good place here! Here's how to insert a picture (sorry, I can't get a link to post but you can navigate to it!) Open the "Search" function up top, go to "Advanced Search." Enter keyword: my belated build pics Enter user name: tallwelder81 Hit search, go to end of thread (Post #23) Good luck!
  21. Beautiful scenes--thanks for posting it. Mele Kalikimaka me ka Hauoli Makahiki Hou!
  22. Congrats! Replacing the contacts is super easy--this youtube video might help: Ooops, won't link! Just google: Youtube Auto Repair & Maintenance : How to Replace Auto Starter Contacts
  23. Pull the starter and check the copper contacts inside the solenoid. Over the years they get pitted and burned. Replace the contacts and clean up the copper contact "washer" on the solenoid's plunger--easy and relatively cheap fix. Good luck.
